Greetings All,

I decided to create a thread to show various characters and props I have in development. This thread will be used to show various issues that I have experience while creating G2 characters with the hope that other developers will share insight or post possible solutions and vice versa.

We all realize that there is a strong need for a larger selection of G2 Characters and scenes. I can't speak for anyone else, but creating G2 characters is a hell of a challenge and can be extremely time consuming.

Creating characters and props is not my full time job, I have a job and a family with young kids. So When I develop characters and props I want to make sure I am capturing ideas that the CTA community is looking for.

Bouncing back from props to characters can and will cause delays for other items in development. I am thinking about adding a poll of some sort to get the CTA community to vote on what type of content they would really like to see.

I would also love for some of the content developers especially individual with theme stores to attempt to reach out and collaborate with other developers. For example if you are working on a boxing scene, why not reach out to see if anyone is interested in creating a G2 Boxer or if a person who specialize in imotions producing various boxing stance, taunts, and punches. I know everyone has their own unique styles but teaming up with someone who has a similar style and doing a joint venture could provide a win win situation and everyone benefits from the outcome.


Anyway I will stop rambling. Hopefully this thread will be beneficial to all. If you are not comfortable with posting your ideas or comments in the thread feel free to email me directly or send me a private message.

Very good characters. Creating characters is very time consuming. I wonder if Reallusion will develop a couple free characters to reward customer loyalty and encourage more people to join our Crazytalk Animator 2 community.

Tilly Full Eyes and Mouth Sprites are now in place. Time to work on the half eye sprites for the side views.

Tilly is completed and will be in the Marketplace shortly.

I am checking to make sure all of the render styles are working, and everything appears as design.

For anyone who has the old version G1 of Tilly, you will be able to get the new version free.

You will simply need to provide me your transaction id so that I can confirm proof of purchase.

I will provide more details once his new character pack is released.

I will be taking a short break to work on my business and personal taxes before focusing my efforts on Olivia who will be the next character pack to be released.

I will also send out a Poll for members to vote which character pack you will like me to work on after Olivia.

The new Tilly G2 is out and available in the Marketplace!

Thanks for all who were patient while I worked on the updates.

I spent a little time modify the the basic pose, walk and run cycle for Tilly.

You may not notice much difference but when you are uploading a custom character, you start off by selecting a existing character in CTA and then writing over the characters template.

By default those character already have action script assigned to them and naturally your new character will inherit those actions. I needed to make sure the Tilly's default stance had the right sprites in place so that it did not look weird when he walks. For example if I used Saul template and Saul had his upper torso place behind his lower torso, then that setting would be the same for my character. So I deleted all of the actions scripts and created new pose that had the limbs in the appropriate place that was fitting to my character.

I am sharing this information to other people who may be creating character and can't figure out why their character won't display correctly in the Stage Mode, but looks right in Composer Mode.

I have also updated the original props that goes with Tilly so that it's Render Style and Color Palette Compatible. You can get the updates to those props by re-downloading the props from the Marketplace. For those who purchased it from the content store, I will include those files in the Tilly Character Pack until Reallusion update the files in the Content Store.

Added Feminine Eye Sprites and Eyebrows, along with new Nose Sprites. This video test the new dynamic expressions of Olivia using the new sprites.

Olivia - Status Update.

Olivia is near completion, however, the following things are still pending.

Mouth Sprites - She will have the same mouth sprites as Lil Jay, however I want to go thru them and make changes where I think it's needed. I will also attempt to create two additional sprites (Chewing and Sticking out the tongue), hopefully will I be able to create them and they look and behave the way I intend.

Hand Sprites - I will need to create several hand sprites for Olivia. I updated Lil Jay's from G1 to G2, but it's missing the proper sprites for the body rotation. I will also be adding the Grip Sprites I had on Lil Jay. Those special grip sprites will only show in certain views but if you have purchased the custom hands in the past, you will understand how they work. Custom Hands and Grip

Masking & Render Style - I don't do these two until I have made all corrections with my character because I don't like to go back and reapply everything. However the process should not take long to complete.

Default Pose, Walk & Run Cycle- I will create a custom Pose for Olivia and make sure her basic walk and run cycles have her body sprites in the correct order.

Prop- Olivia is wearing a Rain Coat outfit, it's only natural for me to have an umbrella prop go with this Character. I will more likely create 3 to 4 Umbrella sprites. ( Umbrella open, close, top view and bottom view.)

Final Over all Testing - I like to run a final test on the character and apply as many body and facial motion as possible and compare them to the default character to ensure my product is working as design and to minimize the chances of having to update my product and release an update in the future.


Promo Pics and Video - I will need to created Promo Pic and Video for the MarketPlace and Content Store. For those who are interested in getting the Free Front View of Olivia, it will not be released until a month after G2 Character Release.
