It would be helpful to have a chart that shows the mapping from IC5 to IC6 commands. I don't know if one was ever officially published. The reason why this is important is that many iClone 5 tutorials are useful in iClone 6 as well.

Yup, same concept in both iC5 and iC6, including the ability to modify your start-up project. Just different clicks.

daney7g (1/20/2015) Thanks for the fix Tutor. It does seem kinda strange to me not to be able to set a default screen resolution.
Much appreciated,
Dane.I haven't got iC6. However in iC5, you would go to Export Tab / AVI File Format & Select the Resolution eg; 1280 X 720 in my case & then go back to Project Tab, where the Project Viewport will be the same Resolution. Simple as that ;)

@Animagic, No confusion. I understand (and know) that. But thinking in terms of "Rendering," the aspect ratio, at least for me, is sort of a by-product of the resolution. HD 1920x1080. DVD NTSC. Etc. For me it comes from editing in the "default project" (with default aspect ratio), and having cameras set, then going to render. Suddenly the work done in the DEFAULT aspect ratio doesn't look right in the desired rendered aspect ratio and I have to adjust my cameras. Really, I'm not confused by that. It all makes total sense. So remove my word "resolution" and replace it with "aspect ratio." I still think that would be a good PROJECT SETTING or even better yet a good USER PREFERENCE for when I start a new project. OKAY - I THINK I FINALLY PUT MY FINGER ON WHY THIS ALWAYS FELT "WRONG" TO ME: - Rendering, to me, is the FINAL step. So I would go to the Render panel LAST.
- I usually do not want to work in the format (aspect ratio) of the default project.
- If I want to START A NEW PROJECT, why would I got to the LAST STEP FIRST to set my project format???
- I am used to my NLE where I can set a preference. New projects start with my preferred resolution (thereby setting the aspect ratio).
- That way I work in my desired format starting from "New Project."
- If I want to modify my output during the render step, I can, but it only affects the output of that render.
And yes, I do know the real solution is what the OP wanted to do, which is to change the default. I just always felt is was "missing" as a preference.

Viking, I'm going to confuse you now... A project in itself doesn't have a particular resolution. It has an aspect ratio, but you can still render to different resolutions with that aspect ratio. So for "wide", you may have 1280x720, 1920x1080, etc. The resolution of your workspace/preview depends on the resolution of your screen, what other panels you have open etc. So in theory you could have your workspace resolution be larger than what you would render too. Some programs (Poser is one) let you set the workspace resolution to a specific value, but iClone just makes it as big as possible.

mark (1/20/2015) It's in the "Render" panel.... under "Output Size":DThat's what I meant by "Export an image" Export an image- In your export options, you can specify a screen resolution
- Change it to 1920x1080
- Viola! Your screen changes to the new resolution
It's true, you do not actually have to render ("export") a file, just set the resolution. But you still have to follow the other steps to make this your DEFAULT, true?
But really, now, why can't this be a "Preferences" option? Or even here is a good place to look: - Edit --> Project Settings...
Who would think to go to the Render panel to "Set your project's resolution?" (Hey, how come "Project Settings" has ellipsis (dot-dot-dot) but "Preferences" doesn't?)
