Actually, you probably won't get it back, as it was a bone based tool. The point editor moved the actual facial bones. With G6 losing facial bones in favor of morphs, it simply has nothing to work with any more.

An upcoming release of 3DX 6 say a major lipsync upgrade is in the works, that would indicate a more detailed approach to facial animation.  I truly hope this is the case as nothing sells a character performance more than believable facial animation.

Peter, what we mean is a detail mode that can be animated like we have in iClone 5.

See the illustration in my earlier post above, repeated here, which shows that you can create a Face Key with detailed settings in iClone 5 but not in iClone 6:

The Solo Feature setting for the Face Key doesn't have a detail option.

You can make a detailed change in the Face Settings, but that's a one time thing. It doesn't create a Face Key, so it cannot be animated.

The reason why this is important is that allows for subtle facial animation.

Please, please, please for the love of all that's good and holy, bring back the "detail" edit window on facial animation. Using the muscle control, there is not the control needed to make simple, subtle facial poses like this...

Detail mode is still in iClone 6. Just select Modify > Facial Features. Then select "Detail Settings". (see below)

If they remove it permanently it could be they are opting for a system that is easier to support such as a purely morph based system.
Morph+bone based facial rigs are highly complex compared to morph based rigs. Its too bad if they abandon bone based rigs. Its more natural looking since skin sliding looks better with a bone based rig combined with the ease of use of morphs.

Î think RL will go in a new standard (leaves the facial bones )
Detail Window give access to the Standard Face Bones.
But morph based Character have not all these Facial Bones more
I think with morph technik we will get more natural look possibles in the future
My guess, We get a new Tool for this
As Developer I can't wait for

Morph-based G6 Characters in v6.1

Good things come to those who wait, and unfortunately we’re going to have to ask our users to wait just a little while longer on this one. We have enhanced our characters with soft-cloth clothing and improved visual quality; however you’ll notice that they’re still in a non-standard format.

This is because we still haven’t completely implemented the morph-based G6 standard. As a result, you may find that the hair will still need to be added as an accessory, and the characters will lack the morph tuning UI for both the body and face.

But don’t lose hope! As our G6 morph-based outfit system is our current #1 priority for the upcoming free 6.1 patch, which is soon to be released in early 2015. In addition, we’re also working on a new 3DX pipeline to assist developers in designing their own derivative G6 character assets.

I have noticed it is also missing in the newly revised online help suggesting that it is a deliberate omission rather than a bug.

If it has been removed this seems like a significant step backwards - please can we have it back again!

This "detail facial key" control is absolutely necessary for fine-tuning facial animation.
