Hi all,
can I import swf files inside sprite editor of CTA2?

I think yes, but when I try to do, I can't see nothing on sprite editor TAB, if I import png I see correctly my modified sprite...

Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, you can import swf files with CTA 2. Remember to add your swf sprite in the prop composer first before using the sprite editor in the stage mode.

Yes, you can add or replace sprites with SWF files, even animated ones.

If it successfully imports then it will appear on the sprite tab.

Are you sure of which body part AND which angle that you imported it to?

If I use DrawPlus the sprite exported as SWF are correctly working, but if I use Adobe Illustrator, the SWF generated doesn't works.

what errors do you see? are your shapes complex? are you using outlines? Illustrator uses a weird grouping method which doesn't always translate well when being interpreted by CTA. Also CTA sometime has problems with shapes that use outlines in that it can "explode shapes based on their vector points. So you might draw a circle but the circle gets exploded with a hole in the middle, this can sometime be a bit more extreme in that the object gets exploded to the point where it just seems like nothing was imported. optimizing your shapes so they use as little vector points as possible almost always helps.

Hi Ibis,
thanks for your help. Sincerely no errors appear, simply when I import the new sprite I see a blank square. Now I use Illustrator to make the sprite, then I import the native .ai file inside DrawPlus and then I export for CTA2.

Too many step I know, but I like so much work with Illustrator.
I hope that developer team will makes some improvements to the importing process of CTA2 for better suite ai file.

Try breaking apart your AI shapes. I don't use DrawPlus but in Flash this is done by using the "break apart command". It basically breaks the AI created groups and turns them into basic vector shapes. Then if needed i do an additional optimization process by "sub-selecting" and deleting any unnecessary or extra number of points from your shapes.

Yes, I know Ai can be a nice program but you gotta pay for it one way or another. It creates its own meta data and grouping stuff that is not always properly read by other programs so you just have to decide on which end you want to pay for it. You either pay for it by using something else that's compatible from the start. Or you pay for it later by having to manually fix your data prior to actually using it.

In my case, clients who insist in providing their own graphics for the characters I rig for them, usually pay extra $$ if they submit stuff created in AI, cause I know I usually have to do extra work just to get the stuff to work properly.
