I have searched to see if anyone else besides me thinks that 1Clone 6 is a waste of money and the layout is horrendous? ..... I couldn't find any mention soooooo:

I admit that I have only had it for just over a day but ... well I hate the layout!
It was always so clear where everything could be found on the old layout, even a newbie could work it out in 10 mins ..... but this? OMG where is that easy layout under all this junk?

Is there anyway of making the layout like iClone5's lay out, at all?

And what exactly have i paid my money for? As far as I can see it is iClone 5 (under all the junk) that adds a couple of extra things ... that's all!
Its a upgrade that should have been free .... don't ya think?

I'm ever-so fed-up that i spent my last Christmas money on this ...... or...

Will I all of a sudden begin to see the light?

I do have to find stuff first though ... I can't find anything with the lay out and until I do, I can't do anything on it!

1) You haven't got time to read all of the Posts here & on the German & French Forums. You are not alone in your criticism of iC6.

2) By his own admission, Peter Edwards (Reallusion Forum Admin), Reallusion have been overwhelmed by the number of cases where iC6 Users have been caught-out by the significant PC Hardware Upgrade required from iC5 to iC6, to Run iC6.

3) I post in the iC6 Forum, because I don't like seeing iClone Users being hoodwinked by slick Marketing, into parting with their hard-earned cash for a Product that's currently "Not Fit For Purpose", before it's Release Date.

To my enemies, I'll eventually leave the Forum (If I'm not banned before). In the meantime I will continue to support those who are bullied &  criticise Reallusion's iC6 Marketing Strategy & the Product.

Wow! I like your style :) ... and sending you more strength to your voice ... not that you need it :D

I wonder if iClone will admit they released early and reward us all with a refund until such time that iClone 6 can emerge in all its glory?

I hope so, i can think of something else i would have spent that money on ...

@Fantasy (and others)...

I will provide an alternate view and an honest attempt to answer your question.  It is not an argument.

PART 1 - WHAT DO YOU GET:

  • Have you seen the pre-launch "Work in Progress" videos, and the iClone 6 announcement videos:
  • You get "Substance" materials.  Very cool
    • It's not a PBR (physically based renderer) yet, but that is part of the plan, just not in 6.0
  • Unlimited lights
    • And some really cool lighting controls
    • I made a test video with quite a few lights, and it worked
  • New physics, including soft-cloth physics
    • People have demonstrated really cool dresses, and even some hair
    • Real users have done this, not just the Reallusion marketing team
    • I've played with it a little bit.  It's pretty cool.
  • Updated avatars
    • There is some goodness here, maybe a lot, but it's also going through a transition phase
    • The new "G6" characters are not "standard" yet, but will be in an upcoming 6.x update
  • Technical updates like support for height map and vector displacement maps, and tessellation control.
  • And more... like updated Speed Tree, etc.

PART 2 - DX11 AND NEW REQUIREMENTS:

  • Many of the updates are a result of (finally) supporting DX11.
  • However, these new features require a more powerful graphics card
    • Some, like soft cloth, use PhysX and are happiest on Nvidia graphics cards
  • Some people bought iC6, only to find out their computer was adequate
  • This happens with a lot of new computer games, too.  You need a strong graphics card to run the newer releases of high-end video games, and the same is now true for iClone.
  • That completely surprised some people, and they were very disappointed.

PART 3- THE NEW INTERFACE:

  • It's new, and completely different.
  • The "dockable" windows is probably the biggest "new thing" with the interface
  • It takes time to get used to it
  • Some love it, some hate it.
  • Most seem to be adjusting, and are at least accepting it.
  • It was a major recreation, and there are some wrinkles to iron out

PART 4 - OTHER STUFF:

  • There are many people who are excited by the new features and happy (mostly) with iClone 6.
    • And, yes, others are not.
  • iClone 6 is not finished.
    • There are features that have been promised for later "point releases" such as 6.1, 6.2, etc.  Some of those "delays" where known well before the release of 6.0.
    • And there are bug fixes needed too.
    • The most urgent issue,s in my opinion, are some installation and "failure to launch" issues.
  • Reallusion does offer a 30-day refund period
    • They have a good track record of honoring it, as far as I can tell
    • Some people pre-ordered iC6 before the release date, that is a risky move for any purchase, and it sort of messes with the 30-day period
    • Other people bought "content" and qualified for a "free" version of iC6, only to discover they can't use iC6.  That is very upsetting for them.  Their content will still work in iC5, but if they bought content they didn't want they'll be upset, not simply disappointed.
    • A few bought the "wrong stuff" and spent a lot of money and but didn't qualify for their "free" copy of iC6, and that angered some people.  Some felt Reallusion was being deceitful and underhanded, others though it was a bit confusing but was explained numerous times (especially in the forums) and the error was with the consumer.  For them, the 30-day period expired before iC6 was released.
    • This has been a very emotional topic for some people, and has resulted in many heated threads.  I'm only letting you be aware of it, and hope this doesn't become another one of those threads.  (I'm trying to be as neutral as possible.  Anyone wanting to get into that topic, please do it in another thread.)

That's all for now.

It truly is a matter of opinion; I'm not shy about sharing my opinion, but I can only speak for myself. So here it goes:

It took me an hour or so to get used to it, and I had to watch the UI Tutorial video Reallusion put out, but now, I like the new layout. I hated those tiny little scroll bars in iClone 5 and that I couldn't move things to where I like them.

Again, just speaking for myself here, but the iClone 6 UI has addressed all of the issues I had with previous versions. The only issue I have now is movement. It's still such a challenge to get anything that resembles realistic movement.

Although, credit where credit's do, having flowing hair and clothes that does cut into the characters body is a huge improvement.

For the record Reallusion has never done a single thing for me, other then take my money. I' not a beta tester or someone they give to shakes about. No behind the scenes compensation here. I just really like iClone 6, except for the fact it's almost impossible to make a character move properly.

It worries me that the focus seems to be more on Indigo than iClone now. Indigo is cool and all but I want to produce quality video's, not super high def pictures.

As for iClone 6 being more of a free upgrade then pay for release over iClone 5; unlike previous releases, they seem to have included enough content with it, that one could actually do something without having to spend a bunch more money. Previous releases were just iClone application, if you wanted to do anything at all with it, you had to plunk down a bunch more money for characters and such.

For me iClone 6 was worth the $109 I paid for it to get the new UI (which I like) and the content that came with it. Which, also goes to show, to each their own because they included a "lounge" project which I just happen to have needed for something I'm working on.

Colour,

Don't shy away from this forum by idiotic statements from the so called "resident experts"
Comments inferring that you go away... take a hike etc.... they come from the mouths of spoiled brats with Kiwi smeared faces.

I have always found your views honest, balanced and refreshing.
You have always been a supporter of RL and also a critic when the occasion calls for it and
I call that balanced.

In my opinion the reason we are now faced with this problematic IC666 (one devil of a prg)
is that over the years the RL cheerleaders have buried their heads in the sand accepting anything RL tosses into the pit and attacking any forum comments from users who are disillusioned, frustrated and angry with the product.

To me a forum is supposed to be a place where all views good or bad can be voiced.
People don't have to agree but the attitude that we all must say nice things or get lost is too over the top. Not to mention the threat of a wimpy fire breathing whinny pants dragon being unleashed every time someone says something negative about their RL deity.

Like you Colour, I will not be upgrading to IC6.
But as a long time users of Iclone with big $ invested we have a right to be here and to voice our opinions.
I believe new people entertaining the prospect of jumping into iclone should have the opportunity to hear all sides of the story.

As for that new IC6 User interface, I too find it confusing, and not easy to get around.
Too much packed onto too little screen space.

How many strokes did some of you have moving from DOS 6 to win 3.11 to win 95 then to XP, Vista, Win8????

Interfaces change with software evolution. It's simply the way it is. I have to agree with the great and powerful Sw000p that navigating the interface of max or maya or even blender would give some folks an aneurism. FWIW, I'm confused that the UI seems to be more important than what the program is capable of and IC6 in its current form has much greater capacity than does IC5.

And no one asked colour to leave, he told us he was out. I have always liked, appreciated, and respected colour until this debacle. I'm not sure what happened.

IC6 has greater rendering capacities on its own, without indigo.
It has the capacity for much larger scenes.
The addition of substance materials allows for phenomenal texturing and real time "tricks"
The addition of soft cloth physics opens the door for unprecedented scene realism.

I am not a paid spokesperson.
I was not a beta tester.
I paid for the content promotion to get IC6
I have a few products in the marketplace that I get POINTS ONLY for, no money.
I am pleasantly surprised with the new program and wait with anticipation for the new features to be fully implemented.

I had the Trial, as previously Posted, Job - Just saying ;)

There are a number of reasons why I won't be upgrading (in addition to others who've Posted their reasons for not doing-so). Some of those have already been Posted.

BTW - Armstrong has Posted that, since I don't & won't be having iC6, I shouldn't be Posting in iC6 Forums.

After 4 day of try out and test I only can say....
iC 6 is a great step forward, with new fantastic possibilities.
Okay, I don´t know, if something not works as expected, is it a bug or I make a error,
but honestly, I'm really enthusiastic...
It´s worth every Dollar (Euro)
