Applying Motion Flips Character in Opposite Direction.

Ok, noob question.

I've been playing with Mocap, and have studied up on the tutorials here in the forum.

In my example I've animated a character sliding off of a bar chair. He ends in a standing position and now I want him to start walking in a particular direction in my scene.

But when I apply a standard walk motion and hit play, the character rotates 180 degrees facing the opposite direction before the motion starts. How do I fix this so the character maintains the direction I set?

Have you tried having the avatar walk using the "Right-Click/Move" command?

Right-Click on your avatar, select "Move/Walk Forward" from the pop-up menu. Then click where you want the avatar to walk to.

If that doesn't work, holler again.Smile

Thanks Rampa. This didn't immediately work, so I did some more research on your tip and found this:

After a few tries I figured out how to get this to work, but only with G5 Chuck and Gwynn.

When I tried it with my own characters I couldn't get the MOVE > WALK FORWARD command to show up in the right click menu at all. I also note this command doesn't work with any G5 based character I have bought from the Content Marketplace.

It's odd, all of my characters are made from G5 Chuck and Gwynn. Do you know of any modification that would cause this discrepancy with the MOVE command, and what I might do to fix this?

PS, on further testing I have a markeplace dog which DOES give me the MOVE>WALK FORWARD command. Not sure what the discrepancy is.

P.S., P.S.... Ok, I just remembered my characters are based on nude versions of G5 Chuck and Gwynn purchased in the marketplace... Not sure what the difference would be. Hopefully I can get it worked out.

Ahhh.....

Chuck and Gwynn have what is called a "Persona" attached to them. A Persona is a script that points to a bunch of animations to be played from the right-click menu under the Move, Perform, and Operate. Persona's can applied to any avatar, including ones non-standard ones that you imported.

Click on the Actor tab up top, and then the Persona sub-tab (second from left). You will see the Personas in the content window. If you want your avatar to walk like Chuck, assign (double click it with your avatar selected or drag it onto your avatar) the Chuck Persona, or the Gwynn to walk like Gwynn.

Go ahead and try the others as well, but they tend to have not as good walks.
