iClone has an internal frame rate of 6o fps. So 60 frames is 1 second. This is not a bug to fix, but a difference of opinion... There is already a thread devoted to that.

Please keep the discussion here focused on the OP's original request to avoid clutter.

Yes this would be great to have. In the Avid editing system I usually use on TV shows its easy to switch back and forth between frames and time code. We are almost always in time code reference, and can set it up to give readings at various frame rates.

We've been discussing this topic, which I've seen now on three different threads.

https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic132996-281-1.aspx?Highlight=60

https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic138783-281-1.aspx?Highlight=avi+render+frame+rate

https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic199838-281-1.aspx?Update=1

The sticking point for me is frame rate and number of frames.

600 frames at 30 frames per second (actually 29.97) should give me a 20 second shot.

But when I render this in iClone at 30 fps I get a 10 second shot that has half the number of frames. This is very confusing to me.

I don't understand your time base. But it doesn't appear to be SMPTE timecode, which is used by every editing and animation package I know of (Lightwave, Blender, Premiere, After Effects).

Please fix this by adopting the SMPTE standard or explain it better in your training materials (It is not explained at all).

Thank you for the suggestion. This will be reviewed by the iClone team. :)

As you point out, the last two digits of the time display are 1/100th of a second, so they are not really frames.

Usually, frames seem to be indicated using a decimal point, at least Sony Vegas does it that way. Which is of course confusing...

For the time indication I would suggest an option, either time+frames or time+1/100th of a second. I use the latter to match things up between Vegas, Audacity, and iClone, as it is a measure independent of frame rate.

I agree that having a time indication in the time line would be useful, although my scenes are usually not that long.

At the bottom of the main editing window, you can display either "Frames" or "Minutes:Seconds:Frames" (mm:ss:ff).

But in the timeline editor window, you can only show frames.

I would like to be able to show mm:ss:ff in the timeline display too.

I don't have a real feel for the number "10895."  Do you know that it's approximately three and a half minutes without doing any math?  It's actually 3 minutes, 27 seconds, and 14 frames.

It would be nice if I could show 03:27.14.

.

On a related note, the Main Window shows frames as 100ths of a second (00 to 99), but the Timeline Editor window shows 60ths of a second.  I should be able to at least have matching timecodes in the displays.

.

I'm used to a "period" being the delimiter between seconds and frames, rather than a colon, but I'm flexible on that.
