Why doesnt the self mesh work? I have a sphere where it will interact with a soft body cloth
only when I use a bound type other than self mesh.

So if I have a shape that needs a self mesh it wont work. Is this a big with IC5?

It does work, but it depends on a few settings that make the Self Mesh option Work.

A sample Project is Linked here: Download it if you care to.

From the comments I posted on that download, the following applies:

What you see in the inset image of the project is a starting point for collision margins on self mesh items.. Increasing the Collision Margin of the items prevents break through on the cloth. The World Scale also has a role to play (I set mine at 3 and 3).

Just remember to do all the rigid body pieces 1st, then turn them off, they will retain the animation and physics settings already applied; then you work through the scales for the soft cloth items before rendering. A lot depends on the CPU and the GPU, so be patient and try adjusting settings before giving up.

I'll update this posting with what the sample project contains in a video clip.
