I agree with Rampart.
Watching the tuts and webinars is about learning from step 1 for many people and following someone that knows all the tricks and clicks is not easy because some step details are left out.

I think you need Basic intro, Advanced and Intermediate tuts.

As many users are completely new or just getting to that topic to learn they need details to follow. It is like learning to do anything...step 1, 2, 3 and so on for beginners and those that are advanced above that level do not need that.

1 detail missing for a newbie is like being Lost in Space with only a compass. LoL
Make them all User Level for everyone's sake.

Also, the Webinars are great but not enough Q&A time......people have Qs and watch them to get answers and sometimes need further input...That is what they come for.

Kai, thanks for being here for us. We need you. No complaints just ideas to make things better for all users.

Hi all,

For those of you who don’t know, I’m Kai, the guy who produces the Reallusion tutorials for iClone and CrazyTalk Animator. Although I’m not really a forum junkie, I’m starting this thread to get feedback on exactly what sort of tutorials are in demand from our users. I try to make the most relevant and easy-to-follow tutorials that are suitable for most levels of users, but sometimes certain users or topics are missed.

That’s why this thread is here! Feel free to give your two cents on topics you think should be covered in the future. At least once a month a requested topic from this forum will be selected. I can't promise every topic will be covered, but we'll try our best. Your suggestions are encouraged and welcomed! :)

Hello Kai,

I just purchased the Pipeline version as well as vol.1-3 G2 content packs.  I just finished watching all the demos that came with pipeline and I was blown away with the Render style video.

Could you PLEASE do a tutorial on how you created this demo!!!?  I need to know how to switch scenes like that.

Thanks in advance

Good Morning.
I am a new user and I am trying to understand how Crazytalk2 pipeline works.  I searched for training video on youtube and I found a video that says you can take a picture of a person or any item and it can be added as a prop or new character.  The problem is it oddest tell you how it can be done.  Can you please walked me thru?  Thank you

Any picture can be made into a prop by dragging and dropping it onto the stage and selecting "Prop".
Here are some tuts on creating props:
DrawPlus to CrazyTalk Animator Pt.1: Creating CTA Props from DrawPlus Graphics
DrawPlus to CrazyTalk Animator Pt. 2: Creating Animated CTA Props in DrawPlus
DrawPlus to CrazyTalk Animator Pt. 3: Drawing Your Own CTA Props in DrawPlus

You must have the Pro or Pipeline version to create a character.
CTA 1 had body photo fitting but that was dropped in CTA 2.
Here are several tuts on creating a character from a photo:
Create Talking Characters from Photos
Creating a Character from a 2D Image (Part 1)
Creating a Character from a 2D Image (Part 2)
Basic Character Body Creation

... whether or not diffuse textures are animate-able and how to do that if possible
for example.. if i want to start an object with one texture then switch its appearance with a whole new texture.

CrazyTalk Animator does not use diffuse textures. That would be more an iClone feature.
If you are talking about CTA then you really only have the ability to fade from one image to the next using the opacity settings.
Not sure how that would look fading from one "texture" to another.
You can also switch sprites but that is an instant change, not done over time.

...i want to put in text for story telling and have it transition with new text as smoothly as possible.

Again, you would have to use the Opacity setting to fade from one text object to the next.

also is there a way to do trail like effects on objects?

CTA does not have any particle effects, like trails. Those are typically done in post processing (AfterEffects, ParticlIllusion, etc.) or possibly by using an animated prop.

If you're still around and making tutorials..
it would be awesome if you could make some tutorials on whether or not diffuse textures are animate-able and how to do that if possible
for example.. if i want to start an object with one texture then switch its appearance with a whole new texture.
I tried this but its not animating the changes..
also..i want to put in text for story telling and have it transition with new text as smoothly as possible.

also is there a way to do trail like effects on objects?
would be cool to make text do this, even with just a 2d image object in iclone.

I hope you are still around, you are the best at tutorials !!! id like a link to your youtube channel if possible thanks

To the Reallusion tutors,

Thanks for all the tutorials on YouTube. They help me a lot. But I still have one major request.

Please do a tutorial strictly for CTA2 standard version only. I want to learn the standard version to create basic animations for businesses. Ex. presentations, speeches, charts, graphs etc. I don't need Michael Jackson dance moves.

Now I am a beginner when it comes to animation. So I want to master the standard version. Most of your tutorials are designed for advance users. So let's get down to the basics. If I can view a tutorial and create some fancy animations not only with characters but with props, then that'd be great.

What specifically do I want to see?
1. A person giving presentations in a conference room.
2. People applauding after a meeting
3. People talking to each other (even if it's just two people)
4. Turning heads to see the guy sitting next to you
5. Eating food
6. Driving car
7. Man kissing a woman

Again, I want to see the limits and basics in standard version before jumping to pro. Can you do a special turorial for standard version users only? Thanks.

The Substance sale ends tomorrow so respond with anything to make me see iclone substance work as is.
Link to a series of maps. Tell me where to apply them and how to set the sliders.
I am shocked that after 2 months there are no tutorials on these new features.
I am a reasonably intelligent human being. Have written software tutorial myself.
I cannot get the default projects to do what the videos do.
So as far as I am concerned Iclone is still broken for these features and buying a new collection of materials is not going to fix that.
I cannot get ANY of the new-fangled tools to work as advertised or demonstrated in videos. Substance, tessellation, skytool, speed tree.
I use every diffuse channel and crank up the sliders and I have yet to see a tessellation tessellate or a substance change. Opacity, hue, glow and all the old stuff changes.
I can't find a "dirtiness" slider.
The new Substance plugin seems to show both tessellation and animated flower growth.
I frankly don't want to spend another $100+ to buy a product that "fixes" or "turns on" a feature that I think should work. I will buy it to save the work of collecting all those materials but I am not sure of Iclone WILL work with those

Is CTA2 Mac prepared to run morph heads as multi angle versions or does morph head mean one angle only?

There really needs to be an easy or at least straight forward way to make your own G2 characters for CTA2.
I know it's somehow possible using Flash or drawplus, but have yet to be able to do it or find a video on exactly how it's done.

Is there a simple replace option for a default character?
