Hi guys: :)

Hope you find this humorous. :D

I'm putting together another naval story in which I hope to marry iclone (for the face-to-face dramatic scenes) with Napoleon Total War (for the epic battle scenes). In gathering raw material for the video, I've read the biographies of Captains Pellew and Cochrane and am halfway thru the bio of Lord Nelson by John Sugden. (A great read for those who are interested in this kind of stuff). ;) Now, I have seldom (never) broken out in laughter while reading a military biography but the description of this incident involving a 'Lieutenant Noble' had me bent over.

Lt. Noble was unlucky enough to have taken a musket ball in the throat during one engagement and...

"Fortunately, his windpipe was unscathed and the ball was extracted, although not before Noble had almost been strangled by a sailor (sic) who sought to staunch the flow of blood by TIGHTENING A BLACK SILK STOCKING AROUND HIS NECK."  :w00t:

OMG!!!!

Lt. Noble survived and, I'm sure, didn't think it so humorous  :doze: but I can imagine the razzing that sailor got over his supper that night. :P

Yet another English invention - "Tights" :D

There's currently a painting exhibition depicting life on board at Trafalgar with an audio commentary describing what's going on in each pic.

Interesting to note that the classic painting of Nelson's death was painted long after & in the style  of the time & therefore not necessarily historically accurate..

Here's a sketch by Russ Abbott depicting the death of Nelson in his usual absurd way. :P I couldn't embed it as it had been disabled. I found it to be pretty funny and in the vein of other British comedians such as Benny Hill. I love those guys. :D
