"One click" is great, if your needs fit that one click. What if they don't?
This looks like a sophisticated, versatile, powerful piece of software, so why isn't there a color picker for the drop out color?
It seems like the first feature I would put into a program like this. Even crappy programs have the feature.
Please tell me I didn't waste my time. Tell me there is a color picker hidden somewhere in this program.

popVideo Converter is designed as a one click solution for green or blue screen background removal. Of course if you require more advanced features then you can use video editing software such as Adobe Premiere but of course this does come at a cost and with a much steeper learning curve. And even though PC2 is primarily designed for one click use you do still have a number of options for improving your results. By adjusting the color similarity and other sliders you can rectify any imperfections that may still exist when using different color backgrounds.

Peter,
let´s be honest... popVideo2 is completely useless because:
1. it does not allow to trimmer the green/blue screen color 2. it does not allow to import/export HD footage
As a result, I was never able to obtain anything decent with popVideo but rather used a NLE. Because, a better result can be obtained by chroma keying in a NLE, exporting in HD, and importing the Diffuse & Opacity channel videos directly into iClone.
RL should understand the potentiality of such a tool and improve it, instead that throwing in some attempts to prove that it is a useful SW.

Hi Roberto, Thank you for your feedback. To be fair you may consider popVideo Converter useless for you but that does not mean it is useless for everyone. Of course you may find you get better results using an NLE but not everyone wants to spend that kind of money nor spend time learning software when they only want the one feature. For some having a quick and easy one click solution is a better option. I have personally been using popVideo Converter for years and get excellent results which are certainly on a par with anything I have done in an NLE. Of course the key to getting good results is the source video and I will agree that PC2 does have rather limited video support. Normally this just means converting your video to a suitable format which may be a pain, but certainly isn't a deal breaker. As long as you take care to maintain the original source quality when converting you can expect to get very good results from popVideo Converter 2.

Hi Peter,
ok, let's assume ppl do not care about the video quality. The problem still remains: without the capability to trimmer the color, the SW has indeed very limited capability (unless you are so lucky to have a green screen that exactly matches the color assumed by the SW).
Then, a NLE is probably already in the hands of who uses iClone. A good chroma key plugin costs only few bucks more.
Sorry, not convinced :-)

Sorry, not convinced :-)Hi Roberto, I'm not sure what you mean by "let's assume ppl do not care about the video quality". Video quality is very important (certainly for me) and you can get excellent quality using popVideo Converter providing your source video is high quality to start with. Also the software does not require a specific shade of green or blue. You can use the Color Similarity slider to compensate for different shades of color. Again I have never worried about using a special color value and have got great results. To reiterate, it's all about the source video. If you give PC2 a great quality video to work with you can expect to get great quality out of it.

HI Peter,
1. popVideo can't read HD (AVCHD) files 2. you can't change the color of the chroma (which is different from shadow)
Without these 2 limitations it would be a great add-on for iClone. Unfortunately, today is not.

How does pop video compare now .
Does anybody have an example of high definition high quality use of this software.
I would be interested to see it. Armstrong

Neil, as per my experience, popVideo is severely limited by the following factors: 1. you can get issue on reading your camcorder HD format 2. it does not export in HD 3. it has a super-limited chroma-keying capability, especially because you can´t select the tone of green/color in order to match your green screen tone I found much better to: 1. chroma keying directly in a NLE 2. generating the Diffuse and Opacity (Matte) videos 3. importing them into iClone over a plane Results: way better!! Of course, it also depends on the quality of the original footage, which in my case is not so good, having an old and cheap interleaced camcorder. But even with a poor starting point, the result I obtained ( which you can see here https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic226640-36-1.aspx ) was made public by RL in the last month newsletter, so... not that bad ;-) Cheers Roberto
