If you take pride in tutoring, then you must speak the language that your pupils would understand.

Teach in their language. They will understand your content.

If you impose your language, then they will never have any energy left for your content, because they will too preoccupied deciphering your language itself.

In normal training / help situations :

1) Build the context by pulling threads from the question itself.
2) Use full and coherent sentences.

1) mood
2) fear
3) expectation
4) life
5) happiness


All above are drawn from a context. But NOT linked coherently or expressed explicitly. Abstract and structured expressions are different. That's why there is a grammar for everything.

Isn't it sad that you invest your time, talent and energy; yet you are not understood or rather mostly misunderstood ?

And what does it take to be understood ?

A little patience and generous with phrases ( I will not say "words", because you will offer more disjointed words) !

Back in 1994-95, I launched an e-learning portal. I had many teachers in different cities who would log-in and evaluate my students' answer sheets. For my evaluator, I did not offer any model answers to benchmark the students. What I offered to them is a set of "KEYWORDS" they must find while evaluating a particular answer. If the student had used most of the keywords in the answer and used them in right context and sequence that means the student had understood and answered properly.

These keywords were not for the students. they were for the learned teachers and evaluator. They knew the subject and understood the context of uses of the keywords.


Could I use the same methodology when a student asks for help ?

No.

I have to be explicit in answering to general students.

Here too, everybody is not a RL content developer. There are general audience and simple animators / film makers also.

That why you need to be explicit in your explanation, if you want to HELP.

I have dealt with many "WILD HORSES" in my company during my 30+ year business career.

They were different people, but my method to deal with them was same.

And my favourite method that worked wonders every time :
