The duf file is really only needed for automatic morph assignment if you are changing the resolution of the body of your DAZ Genesis character. If you stick with the same resolution for all your characters (the body, the clothing can be reduced), you can just save your mapping profile in 3DX. There is no keyframing needed in DAZ.

Have a look at this post:
https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost150567.aspx

It's also worth reading that entire thread to pick up hints.

Edit: Not sure if the direct link there works. Several of us posted extensively on what we figured out so we did not need the DUF file.

Am I right in assuming that I need to create keyframes in DAZ that line up with the expression I'm looking for. For example, I need to create a morph keyframe in DAZ that is the "right eye closed", or the "Left eyebrow up" ,etc. and those need to go on CERTAIN keyframes in DAZ to work correctly in the Expression editor?

Is this correct?

If so, does Reallusion at least give us access to the spreadsheet so we're not flying blind with doing this manually?

And then do we have to go through that process with EVERY export from DAZ? Creating ALL those keyframes each time for every possible morph?

Yikes...

You can set up your own expressions on different keyframes in Daz and map them to the iClone expressions in 3dX. You will have to match the morph targets you bring in on different keyframes to the 3DX facial mapping expressions one at a time.

The .duf file that comes with the Facial Pipeline product automatically applies the facial expressions to your Daz character in Daz Studio (on specific keyframes matching the .xls you mentioned) so you don't have to do it frame by frame, morph target by morph target each and every time you want to bring a Daz/Genesis character into iClone through 3dX. The .duf file is a Daz Studio file that is used inside Daz Studio. You simply drop it onto your soon to be exported Genesis character. The .duf (included in the Facial Pipeline product) morph target setup helps 3dX sort of auto-map the Daz expressions to iClone expressions.

The .xls file is available in the Facial Pipeline product. It is useful if you want to bring in a non-Genesis character to iClone through 3DX. It tells you which morph targets to put on which keyframes to get 3DX to sort of auto-map the expressions.

Ok, I'm beginning to get my head around this.

Remember I don't have the Facial Pipeline program and am trying to do all the mapping manually.

I figured out the Visemes, and am BEGINNING to see how to get other facial morphs in the Expression editor, but I think I'm missing some key information in this XLS file that comes with the DUF file.
