Before I made this post, I did make a search and found another user with the same problem a while back. Somebody responded to him and told him to check Preferences to see if Gizmo is checked, and that seemed to work for him. However, it's not working for me. I've not only checked Preferences, I've even done Ctrl-Q, but that gizmo just won't appear.

I'm currently using the Trial version, but the fact that I'm getting stuck on this is driving me crazy. Can someone please advise?

IMO, there are situations where the Gizmo isn't available. Eg; Terrain, Sky & Water. See Screenshot.

I expect the User Manual itemizes the Gizmo's availability somewhere.;)

BTW - Ctrl +Q toggles the Gizmo On & Off.

If you're trying to use the Gizmo to Transform (eg; Move) an Object that should Transform using the Gizmo, Post a Screenshot of your Scene, indicating the Object(s) you're trying to Transform. If they're added to Terrain, you need to convert them to Props, before they can be Transformed.

Anyone-else?

I really have no scene. I was watching a video tutorial and following what the guy was doing. Within the first minute, I saw him create a new project, went to Set > Props > dropped Box001 onto the grid, and I saw the gizmo; he said gizmo could be toggled by Ctrl-Q. I tried to do the exact same things, but I could never make the gizmo appear, and I've been stuck there since.

This is such a bizarre experience because I saw another guy having the same exact problem in this forum, except he made his post back in May, 2013. He never got a satisfactory answer either, so I know this is happening to more than just me, albeit rare.

I'm just uninstalling, iClone and I are not meant to be.

Well - If we all gave-up at the first hurdle, there wouldn't be any iClone Users;)

There used to be an unlimited time Trial Version. Unfortunately 30 days is insufficient time to cover any bugs/workarounds & evaluate the program at the same time..

I'll add a Link to a Scene creation overview Tutorial, which covers a few Features in the one Scene, which looks very nice when done.

ADDED - Link; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J0d-IO1c6U

If you have any time left, continue with the others here; http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/iclone_training.aspx

If the Gizmo won't temporarily work, use just the Move Tool instead.

There were Gizmo problems, which were corrected in a Patch Update some time-ago.

However, it may be that the Gizmo isn't available in the Trial Version?

Oddly, as I continued to play around with iClone, I did see the gizmo only once, then could never make it reappear again. So I know the software is capable of displaying it, but it's just not showing up predictably to me via Ctrl-Q.

I don't normally easily give up, but I'm also a software developer, and I know an issue like this is just unacceptable. This is so basic. Without the gizmo, it's hard to rotate an object, and no way I'm going to put up with that. I opened a ticket to their support, and it said the response time could be as long as 72 hours.

Sorry, if they want my business, they will simply have to do a lot better than what I've seen so far.

If you're a Software Developer then you'll know that inconsistent behavio(u)r can be due to a number of things not specifically related to the Program. If it's a Program Bug, we'd all be afflicted by it. But we aren't.;)

Not all bugs have to affect everyone, it really all depends. There are bugs that occur consistently, predictably, and repeatably as long as very specific steps are carried out. There are more pernicious bugs that happen only some of the time. In my case with iClone, the gizmo consistently won't appear, but it has only happened to me and another individual from what I've seen, but I'm sure will not be limited to the both of us.

Unfortunately, unless this has happened to one of iClone's developers (which will make it a known isue), there is no way they can investigate my problem unless they install a development environment in my computer and then troubleshoot it (which isn't going to happen). So the rarity of this problem coupled with the inaccessibility to developers to investigate my problem made me realize my issue will either not get fixed soon enough, or I will just be ignored. (Besides, with their thousands of customers, you think they'll give me the time of day?) So I can't wait around, I guess iClone and I just wasn't meant to be.

If, like in the other thread we give suggestions and we don't hear back, who knows whether it's resolved or not. It is simply not true that the Gizmo doesn't work and that there are major flaws in iClone. People are helpful, but we hate to waste our time.

Sometimes I wonder why we bother, Job:ermm:

Unfortunately, responses such as those Posted here, put others-off from Posting helpful advice.

I fail to understand why you are taking this to heart. I have an issue, and it can't get fixed. And what do you do? You take my attitude and comments like a bird with a broken wing and start telling people it's a waste of time to help people like me. What have you said that helped me?

You say it is simply not true that the Gizmo doesn't work? Just because lightning hasn't struck you, you think it never strikes anyone? Instead of giving a constructive suggestion, you come here to tell me I'm a waste of time?

I just get sick when I encounter people like you who are in here to bolster their ego, and when they don't get that gratification, somehow the person in need is a waste of time.
