Hi... I have a question concerning a daz genesis model going into iclone...
I hate how my genesis models look in Iclone with no daz lights... When i use Daz lights the model glows... I think this is due to shadows.
I am hoping to do the following to make things work for me... I am painting a new texture for my models in photoshop... Once they leave photoshop i would like to return them to daz to light...
HOW DO I REMOVE ALL OF THE SHADOWS...I want no shadows on my characters...
If i cannot use the daz lights in iclone i am hoping the new paint job will make up for the missing lights...
Can someone help with the shadow removal as well as working with iclone lights. That last part is a little general. mY MAIN GOAL is having no shadows as well as no glow on my models once they enter iclone THANK YOU

you should familiarize yourself with the 'atmosphere' tab and learn to use the HD lighting system, the glow you want is there. experiment with the hdr and ibl lighting and all the settings on that panel, you can do combinations with that, the regular lighting and the effects panel that range from anything cartoony to realistic lighting. look up the help pages and search 'atmosphere' to get an idea of what some of those features do. http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/help/iclone5/Pro/default.asp the tools you want to get that glow are there, you just need to familiarize yourself with them :)

Thank you...i am actually trying not to have any glow... The goal is to either remove all shadows in daz or use iclone lights to make daz look good in iclone. Is there a way to remove all shadows... I'D like to keep my daz lights if it is possible-just not the lights.. Thanks in advance again

well yeah to a degree. you can prevent the character from casting a shadow, you can go into toon shading which has practically no shadow with the right settings, you can angle the lights to hit your character with less shadows ...or you can kill the regular lights and use the IBL for a more global'ish lighting look. There are really a lot of techniques but each requires it's own approach. - you really should do an indepth study on iclone lighting, there is more than meets the eye with little adjustments and combinations that you can do here and there that make a huge impact on your renders. Despite it not being vray, I've been able to get looks from full blown cartoon to close to real life with and without warm glows ( ironically enough using practically no lights and just the atmosphere settings). but this is something you have to really experiment with to understand how each section, combination and move you make changes the look.

Thank you... My problem has been shadows embedded on the characters skin... Can you tell how your daz characters look in iclone without their daz lights.... My characters look terrible without light... I am thinking of painting them in Photoshop. There i hope to trade photo realism for a more painted look for the models... Prehaps my problem isn't about casting shadow-just shadows stuck on the model... should i be moving my lights?

@defiantfilmworks
Could you post a picture of what your trying to fix? It would probably help us all understand the issue a bit better.

I agree about the wedgie... I am attempting to send some of my renders... i am using character lights... I am hoping to use my characters as billboards in iclone... I've given up hope of using them as 3d models in iclone... The models i create have a dirt on their skins from the shadows... i have trouble with firefox when it comes to attachments... I hope there is a answer to my shadow problem... Does anyone have any thoughts on painting new textures and lights in photoshop then exporting the model into iclone? thanks for all the replies

another approach you can do is to photoshop the texture itself to remove the dirt from the skin. some of these colors come in the jpg itself. i think for the look you want, you may need to do a few adjustments to both lights and textures. you could also try baking the textures to the lighting you like in daz, then calling that baked texture up in iclone so you can have the best of both worlds. truth is you have a variety of ways to achieve the look you want, but no one straight forward 1 click solution. I'm enjoying the way the daz characters are coming into iclone myself, but i admit to doing texture work.

Thank you for the ideas... One last dumb question i can put my textures on in 3dxchange... If i understand you correctly i can clean up my mats in photoshop...then reapply them in the 3dxchange? i want to avoid dealing with daz lights a second time... If this is correct this should solve my problem... thank you for taking the time to help me...from the looks of things it's pretty late where your contacting me from. Thanks for being a night owl
