I don't know if this is the correct way to create a scrolling background...but I have imported a very wide (about 4x the scene width) jpg "tapestry" that represents a country road (as a prop). At timeline 200/400/600, I transform the x-position of that prop by 200. I have a car placed higher in the z-plane so that it appears that it is traveling down the road. If there is a better way to achieve the same general effect, please let me know. Also, for additional realism, it would be nice to have a tree or two that scrolls in sync with the background, in the highest z-plane. That would look as if the car was passing in back of those trees. I have tried merging the "background" with the tree, but it messes with the z-position of everything. Thanks.

I did something similar with the medieval citizens scene. I set the timeline to scroll the background clouds while the characters dance. You can see it here: http://dwacon.com/entertainment/the-queens-garden/ I hope that helps.
