So I've got a character in C4D that I'd like to animate in iClone. So I bring them into 3DX, characterize for iClone thinking that it'll retain the strucutre of the original ones and not actually replace the bones.
So I export the animation to 3DX and oh look... I have RL bones now.
My question is this. Are those just the same bones renamed or have they been fully replaced? I'd like to map these back onto the C4D character.
Yes, I know 3DX can export FBX files, but I don't want that because the C4D version of the character has point morphs, dynamic cloth, and all that jazz. So I'd much rather just match the animations BACK to the actual character.
I'm not really asking how to retarget in C4D, I'm askingif the bones iCLone exports can have their original names or does iClone fully replace them.
And before you say so sw000000p, yes I know I don't understand everything, but hey I figure I'll start somewhere. You learn from experience right? We can't all be pros after all. The original character already has a nice rig and some decent morphs, so I don't want to rerig or remorth anything. I just want to get it into iClone, animate it, get it out, and retarget it, but if iClone completely changes the bones, then I may have an issue.
But then again, maybe it has to change them to be able to animate them. Although I thought retargeting just meant that it referenced them, not completely overwrote them.
If anyone can help me clear this up, that'd be great.
