I have just purchased CrazyTalk Animator 6 for no other reason than I thought it looked good and it may be useful with some future projects.
However, desire and an evil sense of humour has led me to dive in and play.I want to create a team christmas card for my team 6 guys & 2 girls. The premise is that the card opens with a stage and a curtain, music starts (Walking in a Winter Wonderland) and the two girls dance on.
Then, as the curtain begins to rise, the vocals kick in but instead of the traditional words it is in fact the rendering of walking round in womens underwear. As the curtain lifts the 9 guys become visible, all clothed in womens clothing. (Putting them in actual underwear may be a bit risque as I work for a local police force here in uk!)
I have done all the ground work and need to tidy up things but not sure how to or, even if it's possible in the standard version?I know it is nigh impossible to separate voice from music and retain the vocals so I need to spoof the mouths opening to look as though everyone is singing and use the song as background music.
Also the human heads on cartoon bodies look a little clunky when the bodies are dancing, as the heads never quite stay in synch with the body movements and I cannot seem to get the heads proportionate to the cartoon bodies.I just have the default sets of bodies, clothing etc but do not want to go to the expense of buying packs where a lot of the offerings are not suitable for me as they are, very US orientated.
Can anyone offer me any guidance on how I can achieve my goals or best efforts,
I am not expecting to be a John Lasseter or Steven Spielberg as it's just for funThanks in advance for any assistance Guidance
Thanks
Mike

mikejamesh (12/2/2012) I know it is nigh impossible to separate voice from music and retain the vocals so I need to spoof the mouths opening to look as though everyone is singing and use the song as background music. You can add the music into each actor to sync the lips with the music & vocals. Then ungroup the voice clip which will give you a Lips and Voice track. Delete the voice track and only the lip movements will be left. Edit the lips track to delete those keys that are from the music leaving only keys for the vocals. Enhance the lip movement as needed. Then you will have sync'd mouth movements to the vocal. When all actors are done add the music to the music track and every actors lips should be sync'd to the music vocals. mikejamesh (12/2/2012) Also the human heads on cartoon bodies look a little clunky when the bodies are dancing, as the heads never quite stay in sync with the body movements and I cannot seem to get the heads proportionate to the cartoon bodies. You can adjust the body part sizes and positions by taking the actor into the Character Composer and adjusting there. If the head is not "in sync" then maybe the pivot points are not in the proper position. Again use the Character Composer to position the pivot points (small colored squares) of the head onto the neck. You can test the positioning there in Composer Mode also. Jeff

Jeff I don't seem to have the option to split lips & music when I go to the timeline for the actor I only see a row for voice and it does not seem to expand in to the two you mentioned Mike

Mike, Under the Facial group you should see your music/vocal track in the Voice Clip track. Right click and select Ungroup from the menu. That will split it into the two tracks (Voice and Lips). Jeff

Hi Jeff, I am going to sound like a right old duffer but I opened the facial section in the timeline editor, selected the voice section, did a right click and absolutely no change. The voice section did not split into two sections to show lips and music.
I have a music track set for this actor within the timeline. The track is a wav file, it was mp4 format which I converted to wav using the inbuilt function within within my iTunes application.
As I think I stated initially, my copy of the program is only the standard version, could this be the issue?
Thanks for your patience. I am starting to think I may have bitten off more than I can chew in the effort to create the spoof musical team card!
Mike

Just so we are talking apples and apples: You are right clicking on the wav file in the clip track, correct? Do you get any popup menu? Do you use Skype? Maybe I can get on with you using the desktop sharing mode and see what you are doing wrong. (Skype: CTAStepByStep) I don't believe that option is restricted in the Std version. Jeff

Hi Jeff I don't have skype or remote access on my pc I am afraid. I went through everything again in slow motion. I click on the sound track for the actor then right click. I get a couple of options, neither allow me the function you refer to. I have taken a small video just to show my keystrokes and the results hopefully you can spot my glaring error? Mike

Mike, The options on the popup menu were Delete and More. What happens when you click More? That is definitely different than the Pro version. Also, how did you load the voice clip? Usually there is a tag on the track that says the file name or "Voice". Jeff

Mike, I just checked the comparison chart for STD and PRO and the only thing I see is "Group/ungroup motion clip for advanced key-editing" not available for STD. That might also mean group/ungroup any track including a voice clip. I guess lip movement is a motion. Jeff
