Yep... You can spend hours in Photoshop making a few improvements to a single photo or two that almost nobody will appreciate --> since most of the time the original image or a slightly retouched image is already better than most.

Ten years ago I edited each photo individually for color balance, white balance, black level, saturation, gamma, levels, tone curve, brightness, contrast, exposure, sharpness, white point, rule of thirds, etc. etc etc. but these days I do a lot of batch processing. I hate it, but if you edit each image individually you will be in your photo editor all week long and you won't get anything else done.

Sometimes I will binge for a week or two doing fractals for 15 hours a day or something like that...but when it comes to editing it's usually get in and get out. Not too many of the old school optical filters are used on digital these days --> but I do have some very cool push button style filters and actions that come in handy.

lol....to be honest, i enjoy being a pro-noob - i love easy buttons in general because it allows me to spend more time creating new stuff than polishing old stuff - but i do empathize with the pro 3D guys and wanting the big boy tools ....it's just too much to learn and if you spend your life mastering how to tune and record a guitar , you'll never get around to writing a song ...

so out of tune guitars and easy 1 button 'good enough' fixes do have a valuable place in my world lol

I guess, no different than how you feel about a camera - an iphone pic is good enough for me - but you would probably pull out some amazing filters that would give a normal picture a whole new meaning.

For these projects I'll settle for a few push button or simple slider morphing solutions...I think the last time I opened a hard core audio editor was in 1996.

on the free - nothing specific really, i'd just grab as many freebies and I could and experiment ..no one free plug in knocks me out to be honest - on the pro audio - i'd want something from the same people that make autotune - http://www.antarestech.com/products/avox-evo.shtml#mutator

I use logic pro audio and it has some very cool built in effects that allow me to use them like a tool box - plus I layer the effects ...so for example. ...First I'll compress the audio - then I'll run it through a special vocal transformer plug in - change the pitch / formant ....then I'll run it through a plug in from the autotune guys like the mutator ...then I'll run it through a tape delay plug in ....a chorus and finally a reverb

the one button setups are too easy for me - I'm the hardcore maya guy when it comes to audio and industry standards heh!! So i'd want more options.

Yeah, I downloaded a bunch of morphing software but I have not had a chance to check them all out yet. :Whistling:

Do you have any specific recommendations? I am looking for animal and bird voices as well as younger cartoon character voices and some more "regular" voice modifiers like (sultry, silly, very feminine, burly, surly, professorial etc.).

it's convenient how they have it laid out, but their effects are so - so - if you want better sound for free - look for audio software that allow for vst plug ins - there are tons of free plug ins on the net that give you more variety and quality in sound / effects.

Yeah, ScriptVOX has some pretty cool features. Unfortunately it does not give you any professional voices...it uses what voices you already have installed. Of course you could purchase pro voices but then you would need to follow the terms of use on those voices.

I have only tried the demo version of ScriptVOX, and I may have missed it, but I did not see a way to import audio directly into it. From what I see it will only convert text to audio using the voices installed on your machine. Certainly cool to use with Microsoft voices or with something like eSpeak as it will give you an almost unlimited number of voices to start with.

I do have 5 commercially licensed tts voices that came with Captivate, but they will only run on Captivate, so for my money projects I need to morph the resultant audio file, not the text.

I did recently download the trial version of MorphVOX which I understand can convert existing audio files...I think I will give it a play tonight. I do notice Screaming Bee has lots of effects packs for MorphVOX but only one for ScriptVOX...that one sounds pretty good though, so yeah, I think MorphVOX may have some potential.

Yeah. I'll check it out. I remembered using Scriptvox once, and it had good adjustments for the voices, and a few effects. Reverb, and maybe chorus?

the one guru found is open source / royalty free and the voices sound better than the basic ms voices - in fact they aren't bad at all!!

this software is all about creating voices that scriptvox can use but without the additional licensing costs.

I thought that perhaps you guys would find "Scriptvox" from "Screaming Bee" interesting.
