Hello all,

I just purchased Magix Movie Edit pro 14 plus and it came with Iclone 2 SE (the real reason i bought the package) :)

Looking forward to making some cool movies and liasing with you guys.

As you can imagine i have some questions, if u dont mind taking the time to help me.

1. Has any of you got the same package, i cant seem to register the iclones product as it came with another software package (see above), and the only serial number i got was for the Movie Edit software, so how can i register?

2. My iclone version is 2 SE, there does not seem to be a timeline when i launch the software. I want to edit the motion and i read the help menu and it says go to animation, click modify, and click launch......there is no launch button?? So how do i get to see the timeline?

3. Simply, how do i get more than one character in each scene?

4. Iclone 2 SE, is it limited and should i get version 3? Will it cost me much to upgrade?

5. I also use adobe after effects, is this suitable for creating dialogue between two characters or is there a simplier way?

6. Can i create backgrounds or can i just use the ones that are downloadable? If i can how do i do it.

I know thats alot of questions but i appreciate your help, and hopefully the time will come when i can answer for future users of the software!!!

Hi Brian, welcome to the wonderful world of iClone.

There is no timeline in SE of iclone I'm afraid.  iClone is an excellent program and it is definately worth checking out the new features in version 3.0, it was a massive upgrade. So definately worth the purchase IMO.

Furthermore, vers 3.1 free upgrade is due out shortly which has even more new added features.

To add a new Character to the version you have at the moment, hit Ctrl + F7 and click add.

Yes, it will cost you to upgrade from 2 SE to version 3.0 but check to see if any discount is available.

You may want to look at the bundle which includes Crazy Talk, this is another excellent tool from Reallusion which lets you create talking characters from a photo or illustration and the script can be imported into iClone. There is a Trial version available.

Several Terrains come as standard with vers 3 of iClone as well as building blocks which allow you to create props.

You can also import your own Backgrounds from any image.

I hope this helps Brian, and once again welcome to iClone

Thanks for the warm welcome and your answers.

I just downloaded iclone 3 standard edition, will this version give me what im looking for? The pro version is a little out of my price range at the moment, so i am hoping i got it right this time.

Is it possible to have dialogue between two actors in this version and can it be done in the program or do i need to use a different one and import the dialogue in? How exactly does this work?

Thanks again

Hi Brian,

Welcome to the forum. The standard edition of iClone3 does not have the Timeline so advanced animation editing will not be possible. However you can still do much with that version and have the option to upgrade to Pro at a discount later.

You can easily add dialogue to more than one character in iClone3. Just select your chosen avatar and then go to Animation - Facial Animation. From here choose one of the sound input options on the Modify Panel for character 1 to speak.

Then just repeat this procedure for the other characters in the scene. In the standard edition, if you want your second character to speak after the first you will need to click the Next Segment button to move the Play Track along before starting with character 2.

Please refer to the help guide (Press F1) for the location of the buttons mentioned above.
