I need help making individual body parts move for playing instruments.

I use the Motion Key Editor to set the hand location ,then I use the Body Puppeteering Panel to mask off the body parts I dont want to move and use mouse control to make movements.

This is a lot of trial and error because I have to find a motion that closely resemble the hand movement and the direction for mouse control of the hand on the instrument.

I was thinking ,there may be another or easier way someone can help me understand ,please.

Tim

Thanks Tim

Motion Lib 3 does not show up for me either. Maybe Peter can answer that one?

For the hand motion I would use the Motion Key Editor to set the hand in a starting position, move down the time line then set the hand position for the end of the downward stroke/strum, then move along the timeline some more and return the hand to the starting position.
Then collect the clip and export the motion. Then you can add it to the actors Action Menu to use when needed. I usually find it much easier than using the puppeteering, especially for repetitive motions.

Check out the motion key tutorial and Advanced Timeline Editing tutorial.
For clip collecting see the CTA help: Using Timeline | Using Tracks | Collecting Expressions or Motions Clips and see the first section "Collecting clips for a character".

When I use the Motion Key Editor to set the hand in a starting position, move down the time line then set the hand position for the end ,I can't get the proper rhythm. The Body Puppeteering Panel works ,it's just if we had some basic body animation profile templates or a way to mask and move body parts manually up ,down ,left and right would be good.

I will just work with what I have and be thankful for such a cool program.

Yes, better puppeteering controls would be a plus.

If you create a motion clip a hand strumming you can always stretch it out or compress it to match the timing you need.
