Thank you SO much Peter - it works! And it was so quick and simple to do!!! My misunderstanding was that I was adding it as a "script" rather than as a "motion clip".

You've made this so easy. :hehe:

Hi Whisperland..

I'm afraid you can't merge two scripts in Crazytalk. Adding a new script will always overwrite the previous one. There is a way to work around this however.

What you need to do is save the facial expression part of the script (without the vocals) as a Motion Clip. Once you do this and you have saved it to your custom library you will be able to add it to any script you like.

Full instructions for using Motion Clips can be found in the Help Guide HERE.

Hope this helps. :)

I've been trying to combine a voice track/lipsync script with another script that has the face expressions and movement. I've tried several times (last night and all day today!) to combine the two, using the instructions in this thread -- but they continue to wipe each other out!

I brought in a wav file to CT5 and it added the lip syncing. Then I attempted to drag the custom script (which has the facial expressions and movements) to this script, and it just writes completely over the script that had voice and lip syncing.

I've tried extending the length of the file - going all the way to the end where there is no visible data, but still, no matter which one I try to do first, the one that gets dragged into a script wipes out the other info.

I even tried doing the obvious, which is copy and paste - but am unable to do so between scripts.

I really like the movements and expressions on the one script, and would like to be able to add audio to it - or vice versa!

Thank you.

Hey guys. I'm trying to do something similar. The voice audio I'm using has a lot of reverb and delay and so forth on it, so I did my lip sync using a dry version and then was going to replace the audio afterwards. So far, I can't get either of your methods to work.

I tried highlighting the lip track and adding it to custom, but that seems to store the wav file with the lips. I imported my alternate audio, but when I apply the script to it the old audio comes back again.

I also tried copying and pasting the lips, but when I load a new track of audio, the 'paste' option is gray... it's like loading a new track wipes the clipboard.

Any other suggestions on how to save the lips without the audio tied to them?

thanks for popeye

actually yeah that's far simpler.
ie copy the lip animation track, delete all, and then paste the lip animation track back into the editor minus the audio. My method above achieved the same outcome, but your suggested method is a simpler and less painful way of going about it.

btw, just to clarify I don't want to hear my own vocals in the final production - I can't sing :P Only reason I recorded my own vocals was simply as a means of achieving a more accurate lip synch in CT. I've noticed a lot of iClone music videos, the lip synch is terrible because CT is attempting to lip synch combined music and vocals. eg the characters lips move in time with the drum beat or piano stroke rather than the vocals. It can't separate the musical backing from the vocals. So I thought I'd record a vocal only track (singing into microphone to song playing in headphones), simply to get the lip synch correct - I even emphasised a few unclear words in the song to help assist CT in achieving the correct mouth shape. With the facial animation saved (minus my terrible vocals!!) I can apply that facial animation script to my character in iClone, with the original song playing in the background. It will only be a matter then of ensuring the song and script are synchronised on the iClone timeline.

thanks again!

Darren try going to the far right of the script and drag to the left. This will hightlight the script. Add it to your custom folder by clicking on ADD. This saves the script file. Now Delete all and then bring in your sound file of you singing. Once your voice is in drag the script you saved in your custom folder onto the timeline. You will see that the facial animation is still there along with your voice.

Hope this makes sense and helps you!!:)

ok! I had bit of a light bulb moment while eating dinner.
I think I figured out a way to do it. Might not be the most orthodox method, but it works.

I recorded my own vocals (with song playing in the headphones I recorded myself singing the lyrics) into CT5, and allowed it to animate the mouth to the vocals. As you can't seem to delete the sound without deleting the entire script, I extended the script time to double. Dragged the mouse across the facial track in the time line, cut it into the clipboard, and then pasted it after my vocal track had finished. Then dragged the mouse over the vocal track that I didn't want and deleted it. That left me with the facial animation, minus the vocals/sound. If you really wanted to, you could then add the original music track back in as the background music so it doesn't interfere with your lip synch. However I plan on using the MP3 file that I loaded into the iClone motion editor rather than the as opposed to a hefty WAV file that CT5 uses.

If anyone else has a better/easier method please let me know. Otherwise I hope my technique above might help anyone else who wants to do something similar. As far as i can see, it's the only way you'll get your lip synch to match the vocals on a song because understandably CT struggles to identify the vocals in a song causing the lip synch to be all over the place.

I've recorded straight vocals to a CT5 script, purely so I can get a more accurate lip synch to a song. Problem is I don't want to hear those vocals when I import the script into iClone 3. I just want the facial animation to match up to the original vocals/song.

Is there a way that I can either mute/delete the vocals in CT5 and save the script without losing the facial animation, OR can I mute/delete the vocals from the script file when I import it into iClone ?

for example the 'mood' scripts that come with iC3 contain facial animations with no sound. That's the sort of result I'm chasing. Can it be done in CT5 ?

thanks for any help

Darren
