I've been looking for text to speech voices that I can use with Crazy Talk in short animated videos intended for sale. I'd happily pay for a commercial TTS voice license provided the price wasn't too wildly astronomical, but I'm going round in circles in trying to find one at all.

During my searches, I've read rumblings that the old Sam, Mike and Mary voices used by Microsoft are actually free for commercial use by everyone else too, since the company that created them folded and are no longer and this is why they are supplied as standard with virtually every TTS application under the sun.

I've no idea whether this is true and am wondering if anyone here can confirm it as it would solve my immediate problem. I realise they're hardly the most natural voices ever created, but the characters I wish to animate aren't exactly natural looking either - Monotone Mike and Mary could have been made for some of them :)

If not, does anyone know where I could find TTS voices with commercial usage licenses that I could use with Crazy Talk projects?
