I see on the iPi soft forum that Reallusion is working on the problem of importing BVH files from iPi Soft's DMC software. Is this true, and is there any progress?

At the moment the iPi Soft DMC is available in Beta form for a free download, fully working for one month. It would be nice to give this a try with iClone, but I tried their example BVH file and sadly it will not convert.

For those that have not seen this, take a look: http://www.ipisoft.com/

Mike

THere seem to be two versionfor iCLone 4.

Wow they're charging almost 1,000 dollars for it? This stuff better work. It kind of reminds me of what Project Nata...er... I mean, Xbox Kinnect is doing. I wonder if it's using similar technology. MAN if they get this working, that'll be SO AWESOME!!!

Then I won't have to sift through animation libraries and I can do exactly what I wanted to do in the first place.

I can giv e the software a try when I get home.

saw this at Siggraph today and talked with the developer -

the good - uses low cost web cams (his demo used playstation cameras) - setup 4 cameras to capture video, use thier software to generate motion files - i.e. bvh or biped formats

can be used with 2 cameras but 4 cameras provide better accuracy - pc must have graphics card that supports shader model 4

BVH output can be taken into iclone via bvh converter with a custom ipi profile to generate vns motion file - iMotion file apparently not yet supported

they did not have a live/real time demo but showed a video - conversion of video captured to motion files takes a but of time (if i recall 10 seconds per frame)

If the iPi solution for iClone turns out to be real, it's hard to imagine all the implications. w00t

Keep us posted.

Hi Kursal
What do mean you stole it? Did you rotoscope (trace the video) it? did you take the motion file from somewhere? Can you please be a little more clear? BTW good job. Smile

thanks,

Hi Stuckon3d!

First I downloaded (stoled Smile ) the file from YouTube ('cos I haven't recommended cameras, but I really wanted to test the program BigGrin ). Then I used iPi Desktop MoCap™ (trial) to get the bvh-file. Then - 3ds Max, than export to *.iMotion.
That's it Smile

Sorry for my English.

Igor
