I installed the mocap device plugin and connected my kinect mocap device into the usb port. I opened the Mocap Driver Plugin Program and click on Connect but I get this message:
Connecting to Mocap Device
Initiation fail. (65565:Device not found)

I checked in my PC under Device Manager/PrimeSense/Kinect Motor and apparently there is a problem with the driver:

Description:
Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 39.

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\kcanache\AppData\Local\Temp\DMI23A8.tmp.log.xml
C:\Windows\inf\oem98.inf

What did I do wrong? :hehe:
Thanks.

Is your Kinect plugged into a power outlet?

The Kinect which comes with the XBox doesn't include a power adapter. If you bought the Kinect in a box by itself, it should come with one, though.

The Kinect has to be plugged into a power outlet via the power adapter in order to work on a computer.

It looks like this: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/09/kinect-standalone-power-supply-now-available-from-microsoft/

Yes I did; I bought the stand alone kinect sensor that comes with the AC adapter. I'll check anyways the power outlet once I get home from work! to make sure it's not my power outlet. :)
thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem after installed the included driver.

I then installed this package, Brekel OpenNI Kinect Auto Installer – Developer Editionv1.3.2.3.exe

And now Kinect works fine :)

I have the same problem and messgaes
By aussienat2000 - 14 Years Ago
I downloaded the software mentioned above and now it operates
By kcanache - 14 Years Ago
Thanks brand468 but still not working for me
I installed the above package but still getting the same message.
I'm running on Windows Vista 64bit.

Am I doing something wrong?
1. I installed Mocap Device Plugin from Reallusion
2. I plugged in the Kinect Sensor into the USB port.
3. I was asked to insert the disk... but I don't have a disk, so I choose to find it on c: - A Kinet Motor driver was installed.
4. I opened the Mocap Device Plug-in v1.0 software and clicked on Connect but it cannot connect to the Kinect Sensor.

5. I tried installing the package Brekel OpenNI Kinect Auto Installer - Developer Edition v1.3.2.3 to try out something else but no luck.

Note: the light on the ac power adapter is on, but not light on the kinect sensor (It's supposed to blink or anything??? or that happens after connecting through the Mocap Device Plugin???)

Also on the setup instructions on Reallusion's website says:
"Once you have finished the installation and activated the required drivers, then go to the iClone5 program folder and launch the Mocap Device server (mocapserver.exe)"
Is that Mocap Device Server different from Mocap Device Plug-in or it's the same thing?

By brand468 - 14 Years Ago
Hi,

First you start "Mocap Device Plug-in v1.0" and press connect and do the calibrate process and leave it open.

Then start iClone an insert a actor.

Got animation- motion and press Device Mocap to the right.

 Hi kcanache,

If you have the Mocap Device Plugin from Reallusion, you don't need to install Brekel OpenNI Kinect Auto Installer.  The device plugin installs everything you need.  Also, The Kinect sensor should light up as soon as you connect the USB.

I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling but if no light is appearing on your Kinect sensor, it may be a faulty unit.  Prime Sense should also show in your device manager and the drivers should be up to date after install of Mocap Device plugin.

 Hope this helps.

Thanks Shy,
The sensor doesn't light up... I'll give another try reinstalling once I get home, if not I'm going to return the device and get a replacement.

I just got the new Kinect Sensor but I cannot make it work either! I checked the Device Manager and the drivers are not getting install.
I uninstalled and installed Mocap Driver Plugin several times. (And downloaded it again in case it was corrupted)

Here is a snapshot:

What's preventing from installing the drivers?

Thanks John,
I tried with no firewall but it didn't work either.

win xp 32 bit

The light can't be a hardware issue, I just bought a brand new kinect like an hour ago so I've tried 2 different ones, and it doesn't light up when plugged into the computer and power. Im running Vista 32 bit. Do I need to upgrade to windows 7? Please help!
By hmadden - 14 Years Ago
I don't think it's hardware ether, mine is brand new also.
At this point I'm stumped.

I am using Windows 8 and all installed well and my device driver seems to be fine:

Although, like everyone else - I click connect and get "initiation fail".  I get no error number.  And yes, I have my Kinect plugged into my computer and to power.

I clicked on each of the items in the device manager and it says - "The device is working properly".

I tried an earlier post to install the driver from Berklin?  That didn't work for me.

Thoughts?  I am on the trial and have a use for this, but not going to pay $140 unless the product actually works.

Thanks,

Rodney

Which version of Kinect and the Plugin do you have? It's possible you have the wrong plugin installed.

By rodneyhaun - 12 Years Ago
Got it - the SDK Beta 2 driver will work with Windows 8.  Plus I have the Kinect for Xbox. Didn't realize there was a difference.

This is extremely frustrating!!! I WAS having the same problem as the original post but instead of getting the problem fixed it has only gotten worse. Now I can't even open the Mocap plugin and in addition I cannot use my Kinect with Brekel anymore which was working fine up until I read and tried the solutions within this post. Now I hve a flashing Green light on the xbox kinect and it doesn't stop. The camera works fine as I plugged it into my laptop and got good results. But after this threads "help" it seems as though it has done nothing but destroy the camera's usability. Now when I go to open my iclone plugin it reads, " The ordinal 29 could not be located in the dynamic link library MSRKinectNui.dll." I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and have gained nothing from it. I am running Windows 7 and have tried to install the latest drivers for the XBox Kinect 360 camera and it dosen't work.

ugh, i hate when that happens!!.....have you tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstall ?

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Sometimes when you uninstall a program, it leaves certain files behind in case you ever wish to re-install the software. sometimes these files have *.ini files that keep settings that may not agree with your computer - so you can reinstall all you want, the bad settings will come back. Firefox does that! Revo 'often' helps with this as it looks for any registry entries, and extra files left behind by the uinstaller. I say, often...not always, because sometimes program scatter files and leave no indication of where the file was placed or that it's even related to the program, so Revo would have no idea where to look.

Warning, becareful what you allow revo to erase, because it may take other things with it that you didn't want erased, It will give you a page of choices of what to delete, just don't accept them blindly so you don't accidentally erase assets you wanted to keep.

I hope this helps. - Good luck!

So... had the trial version. Worked decent enough. Purchased the full version. Uninstaller the trial. Installed the full. Get the shortcut on my desktop, which works fine, however it will not connect to iclone7.  I also had a link in iclone for kinect with the trial that doesn't show up for the paid version. Removed and reinstalled. What am I doing wrong?
