CC4 is severely under-equipped for it's price tag.

I've been using the CC4 trial, and I assumed that the morphs were limited because it's a trial version. But it turns out that the paid version has the same amount of morphs unless you buy expansion packs ($100 each). How is is acceptable for a $200+ ($300+ after the August deals expire) program to not even have morphs that distinguish between left and right adjustments? How is it acceptable for a $300+ program to have facial categories that have no more than 4-5 morphs? And it doesn't end there. How is it acceptable for a $300+ program to only have 3 hairstyle options for either gender unless you buy several $100+ hairstyle expansions? This is ridiculous.

Be aware, these content packs were not included in the original releases of Character Creator. They came out many months or years later as DLC. Buying one or two additional content packs each year isn't that much of an investment, if you do it over a longer time frame.

But if you want to get "everything" at once it adds up quickly into the $1000-$2000 range.

Of course, this greatly depends on your economic situation.

You basically pay for the time you save not creating the additional content yourself, which you can do, of course.

It's much cheaper and faster than paying 3D artists. But for hobbyists it's a huge investment for sure.

If you want to earn money with the characters you create professionally, the asked price is not that much.

Alternatively, you can get additional software, be it Blender (free) or ZBrush or Marvelous Designer (both paid subscriptions), to create additional morphs and assets by yourself without the need to buy content packs.

Be aware, this isn't a video game but a content creation software released to a niche market with a target audience like professional graphic designers, video producers and game creators.

If you get in as a hobbyist, you'll need to make an investment like in every other hobby where you need to buy expensive equipment first.

It's probably not worth it, if you just want to try it out for fun. There are character creation add-ons for tools like Blender available. This might be a better way to start.

I get some of that, but it is absolutely not acceptable that you have to buy a $100 expansion on top of spending $300 just to be able to get morph sliders that distinguish between left and right facial parts.

First of all, you have to look in the Marketplace to buy Reallusion hair also. The hair in the Content Store is also in the Marketplace. The Marketplace hair is on sale now by Reallusion. There are 2 $18 style hairs, one for male and one for female for .99 cents. The Marketplace lets you buy hair separately instead of packs. To use the Marketplace, you have to buy $10 worth of DA points. God Bless!

Character Creator 4 comes with over 2000 items of content. This includes 300 morph sliders, 10+ hair items, 80+ clothing items plus motions, props lighting pre-sets and more. This is certainly not a tiny amount of content as you are trying to make out.

In addition CC4 also allows you to bring in content from virtually any 3rd party source. So for example, if you have a large Daz3D library of characters, hair and clothing then you can bring all this content into CC4 easily using Transformer and once imported the content can be used with any other CC4 standard characters.

Why do I have to spend $100 to be able to get morphs that distinguish between left and right facial parts like the eyes? Don't you think this should be there by default?
By michaelrbarton - Last Year
Some of the features you mention are from updates to the CC4 program. Reallusion gives away a little of the update items and charges more for packs. When CC4 first came out, none of the new update features were there.
These addons came during updates. And I am sure when CC4 updates again, there will be a little more free item features plus bigger packs for sale if you want more features. Reallusion has to make money to continue investing in the program and creating new features. I hope you understand. God Bless!

Yeah, I think it's a better way to release an optional feature plus content packs each year to generate a revenue stream than putting everything into the software but requiring a subscription that takes everything away as soon as you cancel it.

There are several sizing, shaping and positioning morphs included that distinguish between left and right eyes already. You only need to purchase additional morph packs if you are looking for more specialized morphs such as those included in the Ultimate Morphs pack. However, it is incorrect to say that no left or right eye morphs are included.

There are no sculpting morphs in the CC4 trial that distinguish between the left and right eyes, and I was told by a Reallusion representative that what’s in the trial is what’s in the paid version. So whose information is correct?

Your quote above states "Why do I have to spend $100 to be able to get morphs that distinguish between left and right facial parts like the eyes?" Note: There was no mention of  sculpting morphs in the original quote just morphs in general. My reply to this was that there are some morphs included that distinguish between left and right eyes which is correct information based on what you asked (see below).

Why are there only left/right morphs for the eyes? None for the brows, none for the ears, none for the cheeks. Unacceptable. There are video games that have character creator menus with more depth than this as an afterthought.

As I mentioned previously Character Creator 4 comes with over 2000 items of free content which is a pretty decent amount to get you started. Of course in a perfect world we could include all our content in CC4 and not have any add-on packs, Microsoft would include Office in Windows 11, and Daz Studio would include their Victoria and Michael characters for free, but that's not how it works in business (if you want to stay in business).

If you feel that the included morphs are insufficient then that is your right and we appreciate you sharing your feedback. It certainly sounds for your particular needs you do require the Ultimate Morphs pack but if you feel you are not willing to spend another $100 then that is completely understandable.
