Is there any way to make a texture follow a path direction?

I currently have some lava built using the iClone water presets. The lava flows along using the wave speed setting, which moves the lava in a straight line. I'd like to be able to make the lave flow around obstacles in the the way, rather than just through them.

Cheers.

Marc.

Hi Mark,
you can achieve this with an animated texture and a properly UV model. So if you have a half tube or path that bends along the lenght of it, the texture will look like it bends as well. This should be doable in sketchup, ill take a look at it tonight and see if it is possible, if it is ill post the model in skp format with the proper uvs and you can bend it any way you want and import it with 3dxchange.

sorry marc sketchup will not bend the uv the way you need them, you need somthing a little more sophisticated. Try doing it in "wings 3d " , its a great free modeling app and it does  the uv mapping needed for what you want. here is alink to a UV mapping tut on youtube

Hope this helps you,

PS: if it is too complicated let me know and ill make the model for you in maya and save it as an obj file so that you can modify it in wings 3d and resave it as an obj file and take it into iclone via xchange. Of course it will have the proper uvs. I would have done today but got back from work at 11pm and i barely had time to write this, :P
