Dear Character Creator Users,

Have you seen SkinGen First Look video? Did you find that the eyes of character became much more realistic?
Besides SkinGen, there will be a new character base (CC3 Base+) in the coming v3.3 to fulfill the requirements of detailed sculpting and realistic character animation.  This improvement covers the character's mesh, UV, and skeletal rig.  Here are some examples of the enhancements.

New Eye Elements: Tear Line and Occlusion Mesh

Tear Line enhances eyelid moisture, while Occlusion Mesh adds eyeball shadows to enhance eyes. There will be dedicated shaders for these eye elements. What’s more, Tear Line and Occlusion Mesh will morph along with different eye shapes, and adapt to any expressions. You can add new eye elements to existing CC characters, for an instant visual upgrade!

Note:
  • CC3.3 embed characters are all equipped with new eye elements. These meshes can be turned on and off, deleted and recreated at any time.
  • Characters imported via Transformer are not defaulted with new eye elements. You can create the elements inside Character Creator.

Evenly-distributed Quad Face and Perfect Edge-loops

Topology of CC3 Base+ has been enhanced. Evenly-distributed quad face and perfect edge-loops allows for smooth deformations during animation.  Sculptors can also rejoice, as the mesh is easier to subdivide and smooth without defects.

Enhanced Skin Rigging

Different from previous character base generations, CC3 Base+ uses the A-Pose to bind the mesh to the skeleton which gives a more natural look when the arm joints move.
For example, CC3 Base+ shoulders and armpits are quite a bit lower than those of CC3 Base, alleviating the tight shoulders plaguing CC3 Base.
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/0188ba0a-a398-408d-a3ba-37ba.gif

When the arms are raised, the armpits no longer bulge outward with CC3 Base+ characters.

The knees no longer collapse when the legs are bent with CC3+ Base characters.

When viewed from the side, the buttocks retain its robust round shape a sitting CC3+ Base.

When viewed from the font, the raised thigh retains its round contour shape on the CC3+ Base.

This enhancement can also benefit the Transformer utility.
For now, only G3 and G8 Male and Female characters support CC3 Base+. Take G8 Male and G8 Female for example.

A-Pose also facilitates sculpting. For CC3+ the A-Pose is the new bind pose, and users can choose to send A-Pose character to ZBrush, which makes it easier to sculpt around the shoulder regions of the character. Take the following images as examples, the A-Pose arm angles can be adjusted for large and small character or according to your needs.

Optimized UV

Head UV now includes areas of the neck which helps to maintain head to neck texture continuity which will also benefit the upcoming dynamic wrinkle system.

My only concern is probably what every other users concern is, will we have to pay for these features? If so how much? If not much love to you guys because these features are much needed and I’m glad you are improving the program!

Program updates within a release cycle (3.x for CC) are free.

I really hope that the "transformer" feature will transform G8 Daz character to the real CC3 base+ with 3794 Head polycount.
Because for now the transformer seems to convert G8 Daz character to  G3 wich created stress face polygons issues particularly when
applying Daz Alien head morphs . When you use facial mocap it's very problematic.

I am eagerly awaiting this release, I have actually postponed some work for it.

A-Pose to ZBrush! Thank you!

I really hope the new CC3 plus characters will convert to a proper Game Base character, and be exportable to Blender without the broken skeleton that the current character exports with.  Has RL tested converting to Game Base and exporting to Blender?  After spending (wasting?) hundreds of dollars on CC3 products, I'm still waiting to be able to actually use it to export game characters to Blender. Fingers crossed for the new CC3+ character.

Looks like we get a bare-bones feature set, but not much of an ability to customize your stuff (like adding your own images), unless you buy extra "packs."  The total seems to be $379, if you want to customize your models beyond the limited initial package.  I hope I'm wrong, and misunderstand the scheme, but it seems to be the case that you'll have to spend a lot to make it worth it.

You do not have to pay extra for the new CC3+ Base. That will be part of the 3.3 update which will be free for existing users.

Yes! We have been working hard on it. Smile

Just surprised we are so close to the release and there hasn't been any information. Like early bird prices for packs and pages showing you what you get with them. Also an updated page on SkinGen since at this point you'd think everything would be near finalized. Either way super excited to use this for my next big project.

Yepp , and there is a cool thing called "Tessellation"  :-)

Is it possible to enhance the original CC3 mesh? I thought that exporting to ZBrush and subdividing it would be enough, but it seams that it's not. What's your thoughts on that?

You can't use subdivision. Vertex count and order need to remain the same in order for it to be still recognized as a CC character.

You can always try to use original DAZ characters directly, importing them via 3DXchange Good luck with that! CC is not DAZ, thank goodness...

If you can't output a high poly mesh using cc3 that's a problem. It would mean that this isn't prepared for the present, even the future. How do you guys deal with those limitations? Any hacks to fix that?
By Marty3DGuru - 4 Years Ago
I'll keep the positive vibe going. CC3 is great and I love it. I'm so looking forward to the new CC3+ rig and the new skin gen textures plugin.

I'm going to buy the lot hopefully on an early bird deal. I can't wait.

I might even take my new CC3+ base mesh into ZBrush and sculpt some high resolution details onto it and bake my own 4/8k normal maps on top of the skin gen plugin for an even more unique look using the custom texture slots. BigGrin

Agree with those who say it needs to be improved , there is not reason for tessellation unless details are  added to body and face
and that story like: if we add details we will spoil animation is simply not true, you can at least add ability to raise details if hardware will let me animate it, and if not, I will decrease that myself without asking what is suitable and what is not, at least I can add more horsepower to hardware. But approving low poly amount with "unable to animate in live" is not correct.

Animagic "thanks god it's not a Daz"

Well I think  same, but only because of speed and motivation of daz development , yes thanks god reallusion is not as lazy and more motivated than daz (daz stopped in time, it's frozen like that squirrel from ice age) and they have no such plugins to mocap whole character in daz or in UE , if they would have that , many would go with daz, because G8 character quality is better unfortunately.
In other words, the fact that CC is better choice today is not only your side of achievement but also dazs fault.

For them who complain about CC , meaningless .. it is what it is , it's for low+ quality appearance and mocap , you can say anything , not going to change the fact.
but it's improving with CC base+ ,but  afraid nothing quite distinctive will arrive anytime soon, that's what you have.

Any word on when this update will come out? I really want to play around with the new features. I know that the release is sometime this month, but the end of July is fast approaching. No rush. I can wait as long as I need to, because I know it'll be worth it. I'm just extremely excited for this update, and I'm thirsty for more info!

ok since a new "version of character creator 3 is out, and looks amazing still a "big issue or "elephent inside the closet here (at last for me), any news about "target morphs exporting from CC????, because so far is the "big feature" holding me back to "use CC in my pipeline, not having a "target morph export option is being a really big point which making me stick with daz characters and not using cc characters, i would really love to know if talking "behind the scenes" is being made towards it.
