How to Achieve Realistic Digital Human from Head to Toe?
[Shaders]- Skin Shader: SSS (Sub-surface Scattering), Micro Normal
- Eye Shader is designed to bring realistic rendering of an eye model, exposing artistic control over each of the biological parts of the eye.
- Teeth, Gums, Tongue Shaders
- Hair Shader simulates the reflection of light from hair with anisotropic specularity; it also calculates the light refraction, and the light scatter between hair strands.
[Light Shapes]
In version 3.2, Spotlight and Point Light works with the default light shapes including Tube and Rectangle, or import custom patterns for preferred shape. It improves the eye reflection for more natural human looks, and softens the light and shadow to achieve a more realistic scenes.
Embed Content To best present the Digital Human Shader, we updated the embedded content such as one new male character, one new female character, stage, atmosphere, skin, eyes, etc. >> Know More
Existing Characters Look Better after Applying with Digital Human Shader
Texture is one of the key factors to make Digital Human look realistic, we provide some quick ways to make your existing content look better when applying Digital Human Shader.
- Auto Conversion - One-click to automatically apply the entire character with Digital Human Shader and some default settings for Head, Teeth, Tongue, Eyes and Skin.
- Manual Conversion - Manually apply the embedded presets for Eyes, Teeth and Skin, and adjust saturation and roughness if needed.
*This is for demo only. The embedded presets should be accessible under the Template tab, not the Custom tab. *After adjusting the skin shader settings for head, remember to copy the same parameters to body, or you will see a clear seam on the neck.
*The location of teeth presets might be a bit different than your existing character, you can choose to apply Material Only initially. Or, using the morph sliders from Headshot Morph 1000+ or the bonus morph pack of 3D Scan Pipeline Learning Videos.

CC Digital Human Solution - What You Can Expect Next Year?
As the solution provider for 3D character creation, Character Creator is taking the necessary steps to fulfill the key factors that digital human consists of. CC3.2 is a start to enhance the real-time rendering results, more features in the upcoming versions (see below) will definitely help all CC lovers create high-end characters productively. Stay-tuned!

WOW!!! Thanks a lot for this amazing update. The new shader brings CC/iC to another level and as Gerry said - all embedded content. Kudos to the whole RL Dev Team!!!
I just played around a little bit and CC characters have never looked better:
Unfortunately there seems to be a little bug regarding the new "DH Shader Presets" - as soon as I apply the skin preset the texture is missing and I get a trial watermark:

Fantastic news!!!
Those sample images look great. The SSS (specially on the ears) is a fabulous improvement.
Thanks, too, for the roadmap for the next couple of releases. It's good to know you have even more updates planned.

Hi Tobias, it's confirmed that DRM are not correctly removed from those free resources (Base Male, Dark Male and Old), we will repack it tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi Dorothy
This is the Digital Human Shader not the HD Skin Generator (aka Appearance Editor 2). That is coming Q1 2020. We have also released the Headshot plug-in which you can find more information about HERE.

Could we get a bit more info on the new CC3+ base character coming in Q1 2020? I'd LOVE to see "JCMs" (corrective morphs) at long last. I think they'd really help take CC3 realism to the next level (especially in combination with the new DH shader, which is awesome btw).

They ran into some performance/technical issues regarding jcms so who knows when and if they are coming

Thank you very much for this update! Although I understand it's just the beginning, I was told to wait for this shader saying "it's going to be awesome" and basically negate the need to use IRAY for SSS. The conversation was about applying SSS to other objects like grapes, candles, hair/fur and the ocean assets I've been working on for Reallusion's Marketplace. However the shader seems locked to only work with characters which greatly restricts creative freedom in other areas. Again, I was expecting based on feedback that the shader was to be a Universal solution that could replace the need to use Iray for faster render output. -unbelievable that it's locked in for characters only.

I think you can do what you want -- don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger, but you definitely can apply the new Digital Human Hair shader to anything, and it includes the SSS maps and such. I don't know if there are substantive differences between it and skin but it's worth exploring.

Thanks Kelleytoons, I think I may have posted about the hair shader in another thread early this morning. It doesn't provide enough control or the right kind of control for perhaps most things but it might be used for some things like grass since its used for hair ;)
I'd need to see examples how it works if one might need to do custom work because maybe I'm not setting things up correctly.

I really like the updates and waiting for the DH (& HD :D ) Skin Generator.
Also it's sad that beards are pushed so far away. Headshot is missing realistic large beards (not just the stubble) and hair with recolor ability.
Remember The Sims 3 game? You could recolor individual hair components - roots, tips, highlights. It was far from "realistic", but still you could create nice salt&pepper beards with it: https://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/info/create-a-sim/hair.php Unfortunately, they tool this color customization away in Sims 4.
I really would love to see something like this in CC. Ability to adjust coloring of hair/beard roots, tips, highlights and the exporting it to Unreal - that would be awesome. Also, it would be great to have a bunch of choices of photorealistic hairs and beards in the built-in free resource pack. And with "photorealistic" I mean not only those tidy clean cut fashion styles but also some choices for casual, slightly random, chaotic beards and hairs you see on the street. If it's too perfect, it doesn't look realistic anymore - most of us are living in the chaotic real world, not in Hollywood, after all. I don't want all of my CC characters looking like professional actors.

Hello, can you please tell me if this has been fixed and should I re-download the free resource pack?
EDIT: I have tried re-downloading the resource pack but when applying a DH Shader preset all the textures disappear? Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you Colin

Just wanted to post and say how amazing the digital human shader is. I had installation issues so am behind the curve on this one but am now catching up, and it’s fantastic.
Can’t wait to see what RL’s 3D roadmap is! More amazing stuff, no doubt. :)

Thank you mrtobycook! Next time when you encounter an installation issue, and couldn't find the solution through FAQ or forum, please don't hesitate to contact our Support.

Thanks Miranda! I did, but they couldn’t help. Unfortunately, the uninstallation of RL products on Windows 10 leaves a great deal of random things in the registry, which most liked prevented me re-installing. But because RL lacks proper error reporting during installation I’ll never know!

Can I apply digital human hair shader to daz hair?

mayunakoki (7/20/2020) Can I apply digital human hair shader to daz hair?
Once you convert Daz hair to CC hair you can use Digital Human Shader just as you would with native CC hair. :)
|

Daz hair is made for Iray render. I have this dragonfly hair and import to iclone and cc3, but it looks not photorealistic hair. My computer is very slow (nvidia gtx 770) , so I can’t use iray render . It takes a lot of time. How can I get daz hair for photorealistic look in iclone and cc3? Or should I send it to unreal engine for better hair look?

How many triangles do you see in your viewer?
|
By mayunakoki - 5 Years Ago
|
Where can I find triangle ? In iclone ??? Do you mean this?
|
By StyleMarshal - 5 Years Ago
|
Keys : Control "F" (on/off) , then you can see in the viewport how many triangles the whole scene has , when you select the hair you can see the triangles count of the hair (Selected Triangle)
|
By StyleMarshal - 5 Years Ago
|
Here is the hair in CC3 , no tweaking , not that bad ... I asked for the triangles , it has 190.000 (normal) , thats ok for Unreal , but I like it in CC3 :-)

|
By mayunakoki - 5 Years Ago
|
Wow! It is the same hair that I used in iclone. But your hair looks so much better than me. The head in my iclone is very thin and I can see the skin of head through the hair. My graphic card is nvidia GTX 770. Is that causing problem? If so, I will buy nvidia 2070 super. I will capture the hair from my iclone tomorrow. How did you export FBX from daz? Please let me know export setting.
|
By StyleMarshal - 5 Years Ago
|
Yes , exported via FBX from Daz and imported via Transform (Basic , because I only wanted the hair) into CC3. The hair has a lot of layers , thats good , so you can change the hair color of some strands. You can use the original Daz hair textures to tweak your hair stands (mix it up). I don't know how your hair looks like in CC3 or IC , but very important is also the lighting.
|
By mayunakoki - 5 Years Ago
|
The triangle of the hair is 193056
I captured the hair and setting. The hair from your cc3 looks more realistic, and the skin looks natural. What is setting do you use? I changed the hair from PBR to digital human hair. How can I make the hair look photorealistic? ALso please let me know light setting. I used key, side and back light with checking on SSS transmission and GI indirect light

A few questions.. is your Max texture settings set too low? have you tried using IBL? I'm not sure how much it will work with hair but using smooth mesh by subdivision can improve quality.

@mayunakoki , will tell you tomorrow :-)

@mayunakoki , sorry for the delay :-) My skin and hair was looking better because I did it in CC3.3+ :-) And there are some very cool light environment presets, that I have used.
