Hello Everyone!
Thank you all for your great patience! We are excited to announce that the Character Creator 3 - Work-in-Progress 2 today!
In Work-in-Progress 1, we looked at how CC3 represents Quality Production. (click to see the related forum thread) In Work-in-Progress 2, this WIP 2 reveals the breakthrough of how Character Creator 3 (CC3) is centered to complete the 3D game character pipeline for the industry. Other than adding a highly optimized game character base for mobile, AR and VR developers; CC3 also integrates InstaLOD’s model and material optimization technologies to generate game-ready characters that are animatable on-the-fly with multiple LOD outputs.
Visit the Work-in-Progress 2 webpage for full information.
If you are looking into this powerful character creation tool that will unify the entire animation industry, then do not miss the Character Creator 3 Pre-order Campaign to get the best deals for a limited-time!
*iClone 7 users will get a free copy of the "Character Creator 3 for iClone" edition. See the Edition Comparison Table for more details.

I think one of the questions being raised a lot in that other thread is getting lost -- is the "Essentials" pack different for CC3, or do those of us who already own the pack (for CC2) don't need to buy? This is pretty critical -- as Dennis points out, the pack itself contains morphs that are used in CC, so we need to know if a rebuy is in order to take advantage of the sale price.

Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! Miranda, my mind is blown!! This is the most exciting Reallusion release ever for me!
My business has completely shifted to Augmented Reality and the Facebook Camera Effects Platform over the past year. I have mainly modelled everything I need from scratch as there is a 20k poly per model limit and a 50k poly total scene limit. The texture optimisation is also a huge deal so multiple image files are not really suitable. CC3 answers all of my character creation needs now and perfectly fits with my Zbrush, 3D Coat, Substance, Blender to AR Studio pipeline.
I only have two small problems at the moment: 1) I want CC3 now!!! I have paid the pre-order price and I am counting down the days! 2) I need to upgrade my portable hardware! I have a 2017 MacBook Pro (AR Studio is Mac only), a Surface Pro 4 and an iPad pro that I take everywhere. I do also have a Lenovo Y580 (old now and with an Nvidia 660) and a desktop machine (not massively powerful - Nvidia 960) but these don't fit in my backpack which I use to travel to clients and my Surface Pro 4 can not run any Reallusion products even in DX9 mode.
I am eyeballing two new machines: A Surface Book 2 - £3000 with an Nvidia 1060 and a Lenovo Yoga 730 - £1500 with an Nvidia 1050. Will CC3 run on the Lenovo Yoga? The Nvidia 1050 in the model I am looking at has 4gb of vram.

Yes, more one-button-ish mega time savers! Man, I bet a lot of you have gone through hoops and hoops to do what it looks like this will allow us to do (merging textures, decimating poly's). Really cool.
Also, notice CC base will at start have Genesis like texture sets with separate arms, legs, and body. Cool!!!

So -- iPhone X as Face Live input?
Me wanta! I assume this is a separate plugin for Live, but are we going to get the details about this in the next WIP? Or is this somewhere on the timeline already and I missed it?
And perhaps it's just me, but all this "Game" stuff -- does this mean we can use the LOD inside of iClone or is this strictly something that can only be exported and used in a game engine? That's kind of insanely important to know, because some of us could care less about games but WOULD like to have smaller LOD inside of iClone for crowds. Nothing in this WIP suggests it's doable inside of iClone.

I was wondering the same thing.
I believe iClone supports LOD for Speed Tree, so one would assume the underlying capability is in place. But we know the risk of making too many assumptions, which is why I asked about the Essentials Pack upgrading from CC2 to CC3 (the answer is no need to purchase a new version of the pack).
|
By Kelleytoons - 7 Years Ago
|
Dennis,
I'm not even so sure we can use ANY of the LOD models. IOW, forget the idea that iClone will somehow manage things the way it does for Speedtrees (that would be great, of course): I just mean, can I make a much lower resolution character from CC3, import into iClone and use it there?
I would *assume* that's the case (although we might have to wait until 7.3). And it's quite possible that, with 7.3 (or 7.3.x) it will also support the ST LOD model, but, again, nothing in these videos says that or even implies that (it would have been SO easy to just include the addition "games or iClone" in any of that stuff. The fact it is NOT included makes me both nervous and worried. Yes, I'm a worrier, but since the major reason I want to buy CC3 Pipeline is for these abilities, it's kind of important to know).
So hopefully Peter or Miranda or *someone* from RL will comment on this before we lose the special pricing, because it's hardly fair for us to make decisions on so little (and so confusing) information.

I have found this from Mirinda
And if i use the pipeline version and export it to iclone that "features which are exclusive for the "pipeline version" will work with the iclone like the autoskin and the lod, they will be carried to the iclone and to another program like a game engine like unreal, or that features only goes direct to others programs and ca't be carried to the iclone?? Yes, it works in iClone of course! CC character is always the Standard Character to iClone, and 100% compatible with its facial and body animation system. The only thing to be aware is, once the CC character has been polygon remeshed, it will be seen as Non-Standard Character, and not be able to import back to CC3. We will bring more details about polygon remeshing feature in WIP 2.

Yeah, I remember her writing that but I'd still like some clarification, particularly about how the LOD works when imported into iClone, because when she wrote that she said it would be "revealed" in the WIP2 but I see nothing there that reveals that portion (perhaps it's coming in the actual video, but I kind of doubt it -- it looks like it's all there but just will be put into one single video at some point).
|

I don't see any reason why iClone won't be able to use CC3 at full detail. BUT - It will progressively choke the engine, likely. Try Daz avatar with High Poly hairs..... BUGOOOSH! For some reason UE4 and Unity don't have the issue with that. It's like their engines don't give a hoot. But achieving Irayish results, with an ICLONE CHARACTER in Unity and UE4 (and not some UE4 cooked up avatar specifically for UE4)...forget it So, I'm anxious to see what will be the sweet-spot of detail-quality vs performance with merging everything (poly's/textures).
|
By Kelleytoons - 7 Years Ago
|
Well, you just raised another issue -- how do we control LOD (perhaps it's in those little GIFs -- I didn't look closely at all of them)?
I guess I'll have to buy the pig in a poke (order at the reduced cost) without answers to all of these things -- it's probably worth it, anyway -- but it IS pretty funny how many holes in the announcements they make there are.

I'm currently planning on getting Character Creator 3 when it arrives but I have a question first. If I wanted to use Crazy Talk 8 to create a 3D head using textures of my face, could I then put that head onto a character made in the new CC3? Or would I need iClone as sort of a middle man between the two programs?
Thanks.

ok, i have a question toward optimization and poly count, it's say which you have a 10k poly count game ready model for mobile and VR which is cool but if i want model with more polygons, for like pc or even consoles like ps4 or x box one x where i can "have more polygons" it will be possible to have a control over the number of polugons, like if i want a naked human base model with like 20k or let's say 50k polygons (before cloths and hair and others acessors)it will be possible to control it?
How exactly is this game optimization since i saw only the talking about mobile and VR (which need less polygons), how about the others plataforms, will be the same?

Let me answer something I know first, and I will check back with Team for the rest of questions.
iClone compatibility All the characters created in CC3 can be exported with iAvatar format for iClone 7. This WIP2 video showed how remeshed characters look in iClone 7:
3D head created by CrazyTalk 8 Pipeline In the first version of CC3, CC3 characters are not compatible with RLHeads from CrazyTalk 8, however, users can apply RLHeads on CC1 base in CC3 first, and then click a button to convert CC1 base to CC3 base. The conversion result of this workaround is good. We will make CC3 characters compatible with RLHeads in later version.

I got a question about "Skin Weight Editing". Would it be possible to tweak weights for the avatar itself in CC3? If not, would it be possible to bring CC avatars into CC3 with weights tweaked in third party apps? As we speak, the CC2 does not allow such tweaks and reset the weights to default as avatar being imported back to CC (I suppose weights info is stored in fbxkey and being reset upon import).

I don't think 4GB of VRAM is enough even for the current version of iC7. I understand the need for portability, but an under-powered laptop will just be frustrating. I took the plunge and got a laptop with a GTX 1070 (8 GB of VRAM) and sufficient cooling, and it has been a pleasure to work with. It doesn't beat my desktop, but it's workable.

You can apply CT8 heads in CC3 but only to CC1 base characters. Once the CT8 head is applied you can then convert the character to a CC3 base character with one click.

When CC3 is started it will check for any CC1 or CC2 morph sliders and prompt you to automatically convert them for the new scene base model. You can also do this manually if you prefer.

I'm a current iclone user, so it looks like I'll be eligible to get the "Character Creator 3 for iClone" edition. Wondering about upgrading to the Pipeline edition. There are two features in the comparison table that are a mystery to me: Clothes Auto Skinning and Cloth Skin Weight Editing (under the content creation function heading).
Can someone explain what these two features would add? Thanks! Excited for the new release.
|
By Kelleytoons - 7 Years Ago
|
If you want to bring in clothes from other sources (say you've found some free pants somewhere, or you bought a shirt from Daz, or if you've even made something yourself that needs to deform -- not a hard source, like a helmet or purse, but something that needs to move when the character moves, as clothing does) the auto skin weighting will do that for you, more or less.
Nothing automatic is ever perfect, though, and even putting clothes on you bought from Reallusion won't fit perfectly. In cases where the fit isn't right the skin or underlying clothing will poke through the upper pieces as a character moves and bends (or if you edit your character in ways that the underlying clothing can't adjust to). So being able to edit this stuff is kind of important (like *real* important). And so that's the second piece.
Together those two things should make it fairly easy (nothing is completely easy) to dress your characters with clothing both bought and found. If you are only going to use clothing you purchased direct from RL (or the Marketplace) and you don't apply many (any?) morphs to your characters or make extreme movements you most likely won't need either of these things (although, again, it's sometimes important to be able to fit the clothes properly even if they are custom fitted for you -- just depends on how you dress your characters and whether you use items that might cause issues or not).
|
By mrl - 7 Years Ago

Wonderful! Thank so much for the detailed explanation.
The primary reason I'm interested in the new version of CC is because of the ability to import clothing and accessories from sources other than the reallusion store (regular 3d objects from places like cgtrader, turbosquid, etc.).
Sounds like I'll need to get the pipeline edition to make that work, am I reading you correctly?
|
By Kelleytoons - 7 Years Ago
|
Yes, but remember that you *can* do that now, even with CC2. I've made a number of tutorials on the process (particularly direct from Daz) but I'll just provide one link below so you can get a quick idea.
What CC3 *should* do is make the process easier -- in my tutorials you'll see that an outside program like Blender (free as it is) is needed to "weight" the clothing and get it fitted properly. I can bring in any Daz clothing in less than five minutes, but that's because I've set up the dummies for Daz properly. Trying to do this with other clothing like you mentioned might be a LOT harder, and thus something that CC3 ought to really help with (in essence it appears to combine my own process of rigging the "dummies" up by conforming said clothing items inside. Time will tell on how this actually works in practice).

I am officially confused. In “Work in Progress 1” I’m sure I read that CC3 will be a free upgrade for those that own CC2.
I’m receiving emails from Reallusion to pre-order “CC3 Pipeline” or “CC3 Photorealistic Bundle” to get a discount. So this isn’t a free upgrade.
Do I need to purchase the pre-order of “CC3 Photorealistic Bundle”, which would be my choice?

Just read another post, which has confused me further. As an iClone 7 licence holder you get CC3 standard as free upgrade, but you have to pay for the CC3 pipeline version. If someone could please confirm this is correct I can take advantage of the pre-order discount.
Thanks

That is my understanding. Iclone 7 owners get a version of CC3 free. That version has some differences from the stand alone version (which I believe is referred to as Pipe line), one difference I believe is it doesn't support GOZ. I believe there is a comparison link somewhere in this post.

This entire update is throwing lots of confusion my way. For “Custom Character Import” you need 3DXchange 7 PRO. I originally purchased iClone 7 + iClone 7 3DXchange 7 Pipeline. Am I to assume that I would need to upgrade to 3DXchange PRO or was the version I purchased the PRO version?

It's a bit confusing, but here's the dealio:
All iClone users will get a CC3 version for free. It does not have a few features of the "Pipeline" or "Standalone" version. This has nothing to do with owning XChange Pro of Pipeline -- that's a completely different program, and nothing about it is used for CC3.
The extra features of CC3 are primarily the ability to autoweight and edit importing clothing AND the critical ability to remesh a character/clothing. Right now in CC2 you *can* import clothing but you must weight it yourself in an outside program. More importantly, you can't edit the weighting of that once imported into CC (or subsequently, iClone). This weighting is vitally important -- it's the difference between being able to use clothing or not (otherwise the avatar or other clothing will break through as the character moves).
If you never intend on using outside clothing (clothing which isn't bought direct from RL) then you don't *need* the paid version of CC3, but you'd be crazy not to get it, IMHO. However, if you intend to you HAVE to have it (again, IMHO). There's no two ways around it (well, an argument could be made that you can do what we can do now, which is to use CC2 and weight the clothing in an outside program, like Blender. This is, in fact, what I do all the time. But as good as I am at doing it even *I* will want the full CC3 version, and have ordered it).
I don't think almost anyone can afford to ignore the ability to remesh characters/clothing -- this will allow you to use very lightweight background characters (and, apparently, have LOD similar to what we have with Speedtrees, so that you can see details up close as well). Unless your work is just with one or two characters at a time and you never forsee a need for more, you will want the paid version.
So -- just buy it. That's my advice (and take advantage of the pre-order price. All who do not will kick themselves down the road).

animagic (8/6/2018)CC3 is a tool to create characters for iClone, so it is unrelated to DAZ characters. You would still use 3DXchange for importing DAZ characters.
Fair enough, but the advertising has a graphic showing CC3 as an asset importer; the WIP2 page says CC3 will be for "all-over content import"; and the Edition Comparison page seems to indicate CC3 offers fully rigged character import capability via .OBJ and .FBX. These things suggest that 3CXchange will become unnecessary, and I also think I recall a webinar mention that 3DXchange would stop being a standalone program--as if maybe iClone and CC will become all you need. On the other hand, the bottom of the Edition Comparison page does indeed say you need 3DXchange to import characters such as DAZ characters into iClone.
So the roadmap for DAZ users is more murky than it should be. Whether CC3 offers a significant benefit for using DAZ characters or putting clothes on them, or no benefit at all, I'm hoping someone from Reallusion will spell that out in certain terms.
The current offer for CC3 is very attractive, but I don't want to jump and then find out that the upgrade doesn't actually do anything for me.
|
By Kelleytoons - 7 Years Ago
|
It has been stated here at least a few times by RL that there will be a version 8 of XChange -- so it is NOT leaving anytime soon, and will still be needed for importing assets. Clothing is a completely different matter -- that WILL be coming in via CC3 (due to the auto weighting features) but that's nothing new -- we've been able to do that with CC2 for quite some time now and it still didn't obsolete XChange for the import of things like Daz characters or props or sets.

In Character Creator 3 Pipeline you will be able to load any almost any item of clothing in OBJ format, and then use the automatic transfer skin weight options to make the clothing fully CC base compatible. The clothing can then be saved and applied to any CC character. The whole process will take just a few minutes. You also have the option to manually edit the weights if you wish to.

Could you imagine if this same power also made its way into 3DXchange!!!!? Having a texture map consolidator...for a prop! Or an entire scene!!!! My goodness, put aside game exporting optimization....as far as outside rendering would go, this would make things run very very quickly!!!!

theschemer (8/5/2018) So if we already have the CC Essential Complete Bundle from previous purchases all we need is the $179 version that includes the CC3 Pipeline and the Iray plugin, correct? I originally bought the iClone (not export) version of the CC Essentials and later bought it again in a Studio purchase that included the Export version. Thanks
Exactly!!

Thank you for the info. So as a current CC2 Pipeline user, I would not get a free update to CC3 Pipeline, I would need to pre-order the Pipeline version of CC3. Did I get that correct?
According to the webpage: "Character Creator 3 for iClone is a free version for Character Creator (CC2) users. Character Creator 3 Pipeline Edition is a paid version, which is currently having a pre-order campaign."

Hand-dandy convenient access to the video...
P.S. Watching this video gives me a serious case of deja vu. Did this "new" video actually show us anything that was not already it the mini-videos on this page: https://www.reallusion.com/character-creator/game.html I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but did we learn anything new today?

Not one single second of the WIP 2 video was used to demonstrate how anything shown could be used inside an iClone movie. The whole presentation seems to be geared completely at Game producers.
Will all of these features be 100% usable inside iClone and will they present acceptable, high quality, results in a 24 FPS HD/UHD production?
Like Dennis, I didn't notice anything "new" in the video that wasn't already shown in the short clips.

Inkubo (8/6/2018) My interest is in importing DAZ characters to animate in iClone. The CC3 advertising materials don't make it clear to me what the benefits of CC3 will be for that use case. Will CC3 make it easier to import and use DAZ characters in iClone? Or will that still be 3DXchange's job?
CC3 is a tool to create characters for iClone, so it is unrelated to DAZ characters. You would still use 3DXchange for importing DAZ characters.
Actually with Character Creator 3 Pipeline you won't need 3DXchange 7 Pro/Pipeline to import Daz3D characters. CC3 can import Daz characters directly using the new (and previously undisclosed) Transformer feature. The imported Daz character will then become a CC character that is compatible with all CC clothing. The currently supported characters are Daz Genesis 3, 8, Victoria 4, Michael 4 and Hivewire figures.
As an example, here is a Daz Genesis 8 character (Cora) imported and wearing CC Essentials clothing.

A question about "tri mesh" vs. "quad mesh."
Reallusion made a big deal about their new "quad mesh" for the characters.
From being around the Allegorithmic Substance Designer/Painter forums, I've learned that is best to triangulate your mesh prior to exporting the FBX or OBJ file to ensure consistent results, since "all" systems eventually convert the quads to tris anyway, but they may do it differently. By triangulating it early in the pipeline, none of the downstream applications need to do that, so you get consistent results (especially regarding normals) all the way to the final application.
In the CC3 WIP 2 videos, they show the game characters as being triangulated. So... why do we start with quads? Why not have our new characters be triangulated already?
I'm sure there's a good reason. I'd love to learn what it is.

Once I have a character modeled, the slow and tedious process for me is: Add a skeleton, weight paint, tweak weight paint till it bends correctly. Add clothes. Move the character around. Notice that the clothes pokes through. Tweak the weight paint of clothing, move character to test, repeat this step over and over. Make the over 60 muscle and viseme facial shapes. Import into iClone to tweak every material to look correct.
So what part of this will CC3 Pipeline handle?

I don't overly disagree with your assessment although as someone (Peter?) pointed out here in one of the threads (maybe even this one) the LOD thingee is actually shown working in iClone (build July it appears -- offhand I can't tell you where precisely in the video it is, but if you watch carefully you'll see it's iClone they show it off in).
Which I assume means that LOD for avatars does indeed work in iClone (build 7.3.x). Which is great news. And I, too, am incredibly excited for the auto incursion of Daz characters (I think I own every single one of them and all variations -- just today I was rendering out the stills I use as always to create my RLHeads -- it would be SO sweet to just import the character directly to CC3).
It does appear that, for characters at least, there is nothing CC3 can't do (including, Dragonskunk, correctly importing and autoweighting clothing, as well as slightly adjusting it as needed). And then for Props/sets we have XChange (which needs a LOT of work but apparently it will come as well -- just hope I live long enough :>).

I want to hear the official explanation as well, Dennis, but as I understand it (and my understanding dates WAY back in 3D, so it may be hopelessly outdated by now) the whole point of working in quads is they are so much more reliable and easier to work with (for one thing, they subdivide perfectly into -- wait for it -- tri meshes). So we would want CC3 to have its base as quads for things like the weighting and adjustment, as well as when they go to remesh and combine -- just gives superior results. As long as you stay within the application, you are fine (and when you have not and when you are using in other places you just go ahead and triangulate).
Again, the idea is you can easily go to tris from quads but NOT the other way around. But my knowledge could be so obsolete it may not even be worth me typing it here.

Yes, if LOD is in iClone 7.3 we have made a HUGE leap forward (for crowds and even medium shots -- I made a Christmas video this past year for "The 12 days of Christmas" and when I even got up to "8 ladies dancing" I started to have issues (don't get me started on the drummers drumming). Given the shot we'd have reduced the poly count by at least a factor of 10 if not more (which would have been the equivalent of ONE avatar). So, hell yes, count me in on this ASAP.

The current standard character type we use in iClone 7 and Character Creator is the CC type character.
If you are working with non-standard or non-human custom characters then Character Creator 3 Pipeline will not be the tool to use. You will still need to use 3DXchange to do the converting for you. However if you are working with standard CC characters then nearly all of the steps you mention are covered by Character Creator 3 Pipeline using the new auto conversion processes. Of course there may be times when you need to get your hands dirty and manually edit weights or tweak the mesh here and there but it is nowhere near as time consuming as it was previously.
Now if you want to bring in clothing from 3rd party sources for your CC characters, you can do in minutes. If you want to bring in your favourite Daz3D characters into Character Creator and iClone and make them fully compatible with all your CC clothing then you can do so again very quickly and easily all within CC3 Pipeline. No other tools required.

A couple of years ago we had heated debates of this, but the bottom line is that if you want to modify the mesh in Z-brush or something like that quads are preferred. Developers have been asking for that for a long time. On the other hand, for rendering triangles are faster (which is why iClone started out with triangulated mesh), so it some point a conversion is required.

Rampa was right - iClone does have a LOD function (I didn't know that) .... It appears that the existing 'reduced' level of detail occurs *during playback* - so the object is sort of "decimated on the fly", but is still 'inhehently' the original 'fully detailed object' (and remains so). In contrast, this new LOD function produces *actual* low detailed versions from the original avatars. (If I'm reading this correctly) ...

Let me ask a dumb question. For someone like me who doesn't do any of this "game ready" stuff (I play video games in real life btw), and just simply looking to do straight forward animation only using Reallusion software (I'm doing any importing, exporting, or anything extra)......
...what does CC3 mean for me? From what I understand, I'm basically getting a free upgrade to the visual quality to my characters, right? Is that what it comes down to for me? Without doing anything extra, other than downloading the free, non-pipeline version of CC3, I assume I just drag my character over to CC3, and then re-export them back out, and BAM, instant upgraded character? Is that it?
Basically, I only care about how good the characters look (and perform I guess).

Even for someone like you it's almost impossible to overstate how important the PAID version of this will be -- let's just talk one feature, the ability to create low-detailed figures for crowds and backgrounds. Right now even my machine (see specs) is overtaxed when it comes to 8 or more avatars on screen moving around. With such a low-res feature you could conceivably put dozens or even hundreds of such figures for the price of only one.
So that's not trivial at all and unless your animations never involve more than two characters, I would think you'd want to take advantage of the pre-order price (although that's just me). You also will gain the ability to use any Daz figures or clothing you want, easily, and that's not something to sneeze at, either (the pricing is MUCH lower for Daz stuff -- hell, you can even use a ton of free stuff around the web).
But assuming you don't need either of these two very important features, the free version of CC3 *ought* to make your figures better detailed and refined, although to take full advantage of that you really need to *start* in CC3 (so not importing and converting). And, yes, in that case you will benefit greatly (although I predict at some point down the road you will be kicking yourself you didn't save money and get the Pipeline version).

So I was told that I can use a DAZ character in CC3P. Does that mean all characters from DAZ works with CC3P? What do I have to make sure about a DAZ character to be able to qualify to be full featured in iClone? There must be compatibility issues with some models right?

So OK, going by what Mike and others are saying;
● CC3 pipeline would be a real asset for "movie makers" ie: huge performance boost allowing for avatar actors to have a lot smaller (though adequate) amount of polygons. (for background extras). ● For those who originally purchased the iClone 'pro' package (and therefore DON'T have 3DXChange PIPELINE), Character Creator 3 Pipeline would *enable* them to export characters as 'FBX'? - something they *couldn't* do before ....
Am I correct with this? That ONLY Character Creator 3 Pipeline gives you the LOD feature AND FBX character export ? - or am I missing something?

Oh so the LOD option is only in the paid version....in that case then I will definitely need that.
And that's unfortunate to hear that the visual upgrade only comes with newly created characters in CC3. I was really hoping to take my current avatars or .CCProject files and simply convert them, kind of like iClone 7 (CC2?) did to our iClone 6 characters (something about adding way more facial muscles for more realistic expressions, to where it was able to do the things that 3DTest was already doing?). It's gonna be nearly impossible to perfectly recreate my cast of characters since I have no idea what exact morphs I've done to her nose, mouth, ears, etc. Never thought to write it down.

I can't say there won't be the odd exception as the Daz 3D library is huge, but certainly the vast majority of clothing can be imported and added to your CC characters very quickly and easily complete with textures. And we are talking about a process that takes minutes and not hours here.

Iray might have a place, mostly for rendering stills with great lighting, reflections, refraction, sub-surface scattering, etc. But it will also lack support for SpeedTree vegetation, heightmap terrains, water, and ParticleFX. Support for SpeedTree and Heightmap terrains has been stated to be coming in a later update, but not promises yet for either water or ParticleFX.
Iray is also unlikely to be practical as an animation rendering tool due to the slower speed of a ray tracing renderer. It's possible the performance, especially with Nvidia's IA denoiser, surprises us in a good way, but that would be, umm, a surprise.
But... it could be a lot of fun, and I am certain some people will produce great art with Iray. It can be a great way to showcase the characters you create in the sure-to-be-awesome CC3.

dante1st (8/10/2018) I assume the best option is to get the bundle deal for $179.99 that comes with CC3 Pipeline and iRay right? Is iRay another one of those things that's pretty much essential and wouldn't make sense to not get?
I'm pretty much in total agreement with Dennis (well, great minds...). And, like him, I did go ahead and order it with CC3.
iRay is completely unknown at this point -- the *very* few things we've been shown have done nothing to convince me it will at all be practical for animation, let alone for even stills. We already know Popcorn FX will never work with it (and I mean never) and out of the box Speedtrees and Height maps won't (so put aside any outdoor nature scenes). Yes, it's supposed to be faster than Daz, but ANYTHING is faster than Daz (which is completely unusable for animation).
But I bought it -- I've wasted far more than $50 on things with less potential. If nothing more it will be interesting to play with, and perhaps on some interior scenes with mirrors it may well be indispensable (no matter how long it takes to render). Given how important to me PFX is to most scenes (it adds a TON of atmosphere) I doubt whether I'll use it much, but who knows? Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances.

Personally, I think the CC3 Pipeline version is probably worth the money (and if you're *making* money with this stuff - then why wouldn't you?). But, (and mine's hobby only) - how long realistically, is the window of oportunity likely to be open to get this at the pre-launch price? I'm saving for it (lot's of expenses recently), but I just want to know if I've got a chance to get the funds in time, thats all ..... Steve.

With the new GoZ option can we make better edits to the shape of the character? For instance the shoulders on the character is pretty broad for my style and When I try to bring them in or slum them down the binding of the arms and shoulders go crazy. Will this allow us more freedom for edits? Similar things happens when i try to make the torso shorter than it will allow with the base morphs. I shortened the arms more and changed the shoulders to be shorter and changed the torso to be shorter. As stated below the shell edits are limited would this have more flexability in CC3?

Steve,
You almost surely have until the launch date -- but after that it would be unlikely. So figure at least a month, and perhaps as close as two months (although that will be pushing it). If I were on the bubble and money were tight I'd skip the $50 for the iRay -- but that's just me. But as I said earlier, I can't imagine anyone using iClone that won't benefit from the Pipeline edition of CC3, and so you will want to try and save whatever money you can by getting it at the pre-order price (which is $130, right?).
I guess what I'm saying is that if I am Steve and four weeks from now I had the $130 but no more I would jump on the pre-order so I didn't miss out. The iRay thing will be a lot more useful down the road then when first released (for one thing, you can't really even use it until iClone 7.3.x, and for another there are limitations to it initially anyway). So even if you decide eventually you want it you end up paying $100 say, next year, and no harm no foul (the other scenerio is that by next year you realize it's not worth it and save the entire $100).
But that's just my take. Everyone needs to decide for themselves (although I *am* great at spending other people's money :>).

The length of the bones, the distance between the joints must be changed in the CC. The shell can be changed in other programs. Or in other programs, you need to edit the skeleton. There are examples on the forum. But you can not reduce the shell, and the bones remain the same size. This leads to your result.

For still images I think everyone will use Iray in Character Creator 3 by default. It becomes second nature because it's so fast. You can load up a pre-set "Studio" setting for indoor, outdoor, specific lighting conditions etc. and away you go. Once you have seen your characters come to life rendered in Iray you won't be able to go back. ;)

Peter,
Not everyone (or even, ANYONE?) thinks of still images out of Character Creator. I suspect you were referring to making character stills, which definitely is something that folks do in Daz, for example, but even then they usually have scenery and other lighting FX. Just rendering a "portrait" of a character without anything else involved is a *very* highly specialized thing that I would bet not one out of a hundred folks using RLs products do, except as a test (and doing this as a test with iRay isn't very helpful since it won't really tell you much about the actual use later on in iClone).
But maybe I just don't see that community, maybe they don't come here but are elsewhere and you are familiar with them (as I said, the only such stills I've seen here are just tests and certainly not an "end product" by any means). RL's products are for animation, and I don't see CC3 changing that any time soon.

I for one like staging renders before sending it to engine so i can get an idea of the look of everything before sending it to engine. Though I wish I could stage the character beside others in CC for height checks. Currently I can only guage character heights in IClone. Currently I do this in substance painter but I can't pose the character in Substance so this is so much more beneficial. I tried staging renders in CC before but its not as a good of a render currently to check my character. So I hope the IRay in CC3 comes fast and has great settings simular to SP. Especially SSS and Emission support.

I have used Daz for years and never have I used it to make a still picture. My primary reason for using Daz is to create characters and then send them to iClone to animate. I want the best cinematic that I can get. Compared to iClone Daz is hard to lip sync and animate characters. It also has a hard time importing avatars back into Daz for rendering. At least I have not figured out a way to do it.

I would say, what would marketing do? Let's say you have a feature list that spanks DAZ. You look at it and say, "OK, what am I missing? Name one thing they have that we don't have. Hey, what about this? There's almost no development time needed, and the users pay for it anyway. What harm can it do?"

Based on the (RL) crew comments regarding CC 3 at the moment it would appear that the software is being promoted as a Creation Studio for Game asset producers wishing to sell their fully animated characters to one and all - and make no mistake about it, once the asset is in FBX format it will be sold to the highest bidder well away from any RL controlled store. The ability to present the asset posed in a clinically clean environment, devoid of any semblance of natural surroundings, isn't likely to impress the masses for ever - try and sell a bloody, dirty combat proved soldier standing in something that resembles an urban Livingroom, or worse a Doctors Surgery. :w00t:
As already stated by others, I consider Character Creator to be simply a support element of iClone to create Characters for use in animation - and not for producing pretty pictures. Pretty pictures include, but are not limited to, Trees, Water, Terrains and VFX.
I fully understand the constraints placed on the (RL) crew, tow the line or draw the Dole(1), but it has to be clear that long time iClone users have no interest in Game Production.

Providing you have Crazytalk 8 Pipeline you can export 3D heads that can be used in Character Creator 3. You won't need iClone 7 to be able to do this. :)

Hi Guys,
It's important to remember that Character Creator 3 Pipeline is a standalone version. Of course it is great for generating characters for iClone, but it can also be used to generate characters which will be exported directly to game engines and other software without ever stepping foot in iClone.
Whatever the intended purpose, you will want to see how the character will look under certain atmospheric conditions and Iray rendering in CC3 allows you to do that. There is the option to render a still image with the built in engine just like in iClone, but Iray really allows you to see how great the character will look before you send it on it's merry way to its next destination be that iClone or any other software.

Character Creator 3 is primarily positioned as a 3D Character creation pipeline for Animation, Game, AR & VR. You can create movies or training videos containing the characters you create, plus use them in games or other applications. You can also create content to be sold in the Reallusion Marketplace and Content Store. Selling content outside of the Reallusion stores is currently not permitted.

Hi Viking,
CC3 can't import characters that have a custom bone structure unless there is a "Transformer" profile for them. The currently supported figures for import are Daz Genesis 3, 8, Victoria 4, Michael 4 and Hivewire figures. Daz Genesis 1 and 2 will hopefully be added to that list soon.
However if you create a custom character in Blender and rig it there, then you can of course sell it in any store you like. However you will still need 3DXchange to import it into iClone 7 as you do now. CC3 doesn't replace 3DXchange for import of non-human or non-standard characters with custom bone structures.

Hi Roberto,
If the character is for use in iClone then you won't need the Export license version. However if you planning on exporting to FBX then you will need the Export version of the source content.

Hi Peter,
thanks for the answer. No need to export the FBX: the idea is to generate and save on my HD low-poly versions of bought character assets so that I can fill the scenes with more characters and also re-use them later on, if needed. So, from your answer I deduce that's possible.

Hi, any demo( video or text article ) about "Transformer" profile of DAZ G3,G8 character at CC3?

I'm becomming a little concernded and confused, I brought the $129 pipline bundle and see in a video (some are maybe old, so hard to know) where the essentual bundle (which I aim to get when I can) can only be exported if you own the 3Dxchange package. It feel very deseptive and missleading. I'd hate to buy something I can't use because I need a very expensive add-on package. If I buy Character Creator and the essentuals bundle am I able to create characters clothing armours etc and export ALL those to use in a game engine
Hi Kiwi-Hawk,
From the edition comparison table, you will see that there is no 3DXchange is required to export characters in OBJ/FBX format. I assume that you've read this page...? https://www.reallusion.com/ContentStore/Royalty_Free/index.html We will update the page before official launch.

Thank you for that, it was maybe a Character 2 Creator video I spotted (not sure) so that maybe tossed me the curved ball I had read the link you sent a long time back wher researching these products and found they where out side my price range as a hobbist but have not read resently no, after the video I just got a feeling I might be needing xchange which would not happen given $800 approx (pricing for zBrush) turned out to be near $1500 NZ now they put a %15.5 tax on stuff brought off the net.
Any way good to know I should be set with a base CC3 and the essentals bundle

pka4916 (8/10/2018) It was mentioned already that Iray was faster than Daz3D
Please be aware that the Iray rendering speed test results are based on my own preliminary testing and not an official statement of fact from Reallusion. We will need to run more exhaustive testing with the final version and under different conditions before we can say "Officially" that Iray in CC3 is faster than in Daz Studio 10. And of course hardware will play a major part in the rendering speed you get using CC3.

Sorry if this has already been covered - this is a long thread, but will the CC3 characters be usable in iClone after 'optimization' (see below) for creating crowd scenes, etc.? Or is this only for game engines? This would be one of my main reasons for getting pipeline. And will LOD work in iClone?
LOD Generation *Powered by InstaLOD | Polygon Optimization | | | ✓ | Remeshing | | | ✓ | Material Merging | | | ✓ |

Yes, it will work for crowd scenes inside of iClone AND iClone will respect the LOD (apparently it already does -- I'm guessing only for Speedtrees for now).
There is actually a quick screen shot showing the LOD scene inside of iClone during the WIP 2 video.

Not really shure that iclone will support automatic Lod switch for characters . The screenshot is at 4:32 but the previous slate title mention: "See how it works in games" But you can manually make your own crowd now with lowrez characters generating by CC3

I think the render it's all done in Unity . As you can see it's exactly the same render/lighting through all the video. At 5:00 it's Unity UI with the same render...

I know we've had LOD support in SpeedTree for a long time, so I think the fundamental capability has been around, just waiting to be taken advantage of more fully. Yes, I believe it was Peter(RL) that confirmed we would have LOD support for characters.
I wonder... Mesh only, or textures, too? I don't need 4k texture sets on a multiple materials for a background character. Maybe that was addressed and I forgot about it, but I'm only remembering them showcasing the polygon reduction.

Of course not only mesh. See the video. "Install LOD" is a process to built automatically LOD object. Means evry level of mesh resolution are created with their level texture resolution.

It does so for Speedtrees; just try to zoom in. For animation, the only useful addition I see is the that we can now have different resolution versions of CC characters, which is indeed great for crowds.

BTW, details are on this page: https://www.reallusion.com/character-creator/game.html. It does talk about texture reduction including the use of a texture atlas (combine all textures in one). That will give additional efficiency.
I may be wrong about LOD, it may work great... but only if it gets a new implementation.

Thanks for the convenient link. I should have taken the time to find that (again) myself before posting random thoughts that were in my head.
This will be very interesting to explore, no doubt about that. Many questions and details will need to be worked out.
Levels 0 and Level 1-2 are one set of detail, and Levels 4-6 are generated by the Remesher. Does that mean "we" need to create levels 1 and 2 ourselves using some tool? Maybe the decimation capabilities in CC3?
The texture combination will involve a learning curve. When does it work well? How far can you go with it? How much up-front effort is required by the artist?
What does all this do to our load times and GPU VRAM usage? I can imagine a scenario where both of those increase, but frames-per-second performance still increases thanks to it using the lowest-possible level of detail at any given time.
Yup, we have "interesting times" in store for us.

I would suggest you contact RL through your account/support and put in what is known as a trouble ticket. Explain how you did the order and ask them if they could either cancel your original order (which still has many weeks before it will be filled) so you can re-order, or allow you to add the iRay plugin to that order with only the cost difference (which is $50).

The normal way it works is that you will need to refund your current pre-order and then re-order the bundle with Iray. The best thing to is contact Customer Support as already advised and they will let you know your options. Please use the link below to submit a Support ticket.

There won't be as preset Profile for GameGuru as there is for Unreal and Unity but you can still use the Custom export options. 2. Can I make the Gladiator character out of the box only using CC3. The final content that will be included with CC3 has not yet been finalised. However specific themed clothing like the Gladiator is normally found in add-on packs.
3. Is CC3 all I need to create/rig/animate and export the charater to FBX. Character Creator 3 Pipeline will allow you to create rigged characters that can be exported to FBX without requiring any other software. Animations can also be exported but not created in CC3. To create facial and full body animation will require iClone 7 or you can use other 3rd party tools after export.

I pretty much use Character Creator and iClone to develop real-time characters for my Unity based projects. Create, Animate, Export. What will Iray Renderer do for me, if anything? Will it enhance the characters textures that get exported or is it just to make renderings in iClone (Character Creator?) look more realistic?
Don't want to spend extra on a plugin I'll never use. Thanks ~V~

Characters that have a custom bone structure can't be imported into CC3 Pipeline unless there is a "Transformer" profile for them. Currently that means Daz Genesis 3, 8 Victoria 4, Michael 4 and Hivewire figures.
Regarding selling CC3 characters outside of the Reallusion stores, this is not permitted as explained previously.

Hi! First post here. I have almost the finger above the "buy button" but I have few questions about CC. My plan is to buy the CC3 + essentials bundle. No need the Iray because I'll render elsewhere. My questions are: - Can I make my own morphs (with their sliders)? I mean I have a character. I want to add a deformity somewhere, but I want it from barely visible to monstrous. So I can use it on another character if needed. So I need one ore more sliders to have control. Will it be possible to have tools for morphs? I've read that we can do that with ZBrush and import it via GoZ. Is it possible with Blender? Will it be in a near future? I can't afford ZBrush, it's too expensive. - Can I take your base model, export it, add something (like horns for example) and import it in CC and the standard morphs/sliders continue to work nicely? - Put another way. I want horns on my characters. So we have the horns, and tormented skin around the base. So I would export my character elsewhere, put the horns, merge them and sculpt the tormented skin around the base. Reimport them. Maybe multiple time in order to create sliders. Will it be possible without having to use ZBrush? I need clarifications, because if I need something that isn't in the bundle, and I have to buy it in the shop because I just can't do it myself, it will be a solid no-go. I hope my questions are clear ! ^^'

But it's a pain, really.

Hi...
Morph sliders can be created in any 3D modelling software, you are not forced to use ZBrush.
As already explained you can't add geometry, but you can reshape as you wish. If you need horns on your character then you could add them as an "accessory" which is attached to the characters head. They can still be exported with the finished character.

Thanks Peter. And thanks everybody for the answers.
Just a remark: It would be a great feature, and not only for me I think, to be able to change some polygons by... something else. I explain myself: I want to had horns, so I tell to the program, OK, this polygon or this group of polygons will change. So now I can subdiv the polygons, do what I want with them, add morphs/sliders, whatever. After that the program works as usual, I can use standard sliders like before, the only change is that the new polygons morph accordingly to the ones they replace (not sure I'm clear ^^ ). Time saver I think.
Very last question (I didn't find any answer): Will the license be eternal or I'll have to pay something every year if I want to continue to use it? Thanks for your patience!

I paid the $129 US which turned into $203 NZ and got refunded $129 US and it's seems lost the difference. if you do this via PayPal it will take 3 to 5 working day for your money which they recive intantly to show back in your bank account. this has turned into the most mess unafordable transaction I have ever made as I remember
You should be refunded in the same currency that you paid originally. So if you have paid us $129 US Dollars then your refund will obviously be $129 US Dollars. Unfortunately refunds won't take into account any exchange rate differences when you convert back to your local currency.
However as justaviking suggested, please do contact Customer Support if you still have any concerns.

Hi... The closing date for the special pre-order pricing will be determined once a release date for CC3 becomes official. At present the release date for CC3 is still scheduled for late September, so there is still some time to take advantage of the pre-order prices.

Thanks for the reply, I was a bit of a kuncklehead there not thinking that you RL people are going to be thinking and dealing in US dollars so when I was told I was refuned $129 I felt short changed, but that did indeed turm up in my back as $203 NZ , so I did manage to reorder.

I can't speak on behalf of the standalone CC3 version as I don't have it yet. However yes I believe you will need to be careful. There are many iclone characters that can't be used in CC.
I have purchased the CC3 standalone even though I have iClone and I have taken a high notice of your question. So I for one will be taking care in my store to make sure I make it as obvious as possible for CC3 standalone users to know whether they can use mine or not. I do need to check all this out though once I get CC3. I can only guess at the moment

Kiwi ---- I'm guessing P is for 'purchase' Reallusion's marketplace products are purchased with DA (Direct Access) funds that you buy. Each 'DA point' equals 1 US cent ie 100 pts cost you $1 US, though you have to buy 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 at a time. ($10, $50, $100).
(Dont' purchase *more than you need* - as Direct Access Points and any purchase made with DA points are 'non-refundable') :)

Remember that one of the things the standalone version that you have pre-ordered can do is to take clothing from outside the RL world and make it CC compatible. This should be fairly easy (nothing is *completely* easy, but it shouldn't be hard to master since we can do it now fairly easily even without CC3). What this means for you is there will be lots of other alternatives to the rather pricey RL stuff.
I would highly recommend you look at Daz clothing -- not only is it priced far cheaper, but they always have tons of sales (and it pays to be a Platinum Club member, where you can get even more deals. You can buy a wizards coat for $3 right now, for example). And there will also be free clothing out there. CC3 is designed around the ability to import a lot of resources and repurpose them, so make sure you take advantage of it when you get it.

You don't need iClone 7 or 3DXchange 7 Pipeline if you have Character Creator 3 Pipeline. CC3 Pipeline is a standalone product that can export directly to Unreal or Unity.

Hi... Character Creator 2 is not a standalone product so you would need iClone 7 to be able to use it. You can however download Character Creator 2 Lite. This is a non-expiring trial version which can be used until the release of Character Creator 3.

You can certainly make custom faces in Character Creator 3 Pipeline using the morph sliders, but if you mean using facial photos, then you will still need Crazytalk 8 Pipeline to do this. In a future upgrade we may add this feature to CC3 but for now you will need CT8 Pipeline to create custom 3D heads from photos.

If you purchase items that are advertised for use in Character Creator then there should not be any issues. Items listed for use only in iClone won't work directly in any version of CC, for those you will need to purchase both iClone and 3DXchange to do any conversions. For use in outside software you will also need to purchase the Export license version, and it may also be necessary to purchase Base items.

Hi,Guys, just became a CC user and I have a couple of important questions.
I have many existing custom characters and I want to make it CC-fied so that I can take advantange of the all CC functionalities. For the body, I think I throw away my model and use CC body, but for the face, I can't do that. I need to somehow make remap(re-topologize) the geometry to CC geometry. I saw GoZ that you can go between Z-brush and CC and perhaps I can use Z-brush to remap my head geometry in Z-brush and bring it back into CC??
So my questions are, 1. Is it possible to remap my custom head geometry to CC? If so, could you please explain this can be done?
2. In addition, I also need to bring the head texture map into CC as well. I'm not sure if there is easy way to remap the texture to CC.
Thank you very much for your help and I'm very excited to get my hand on CC3.

There is no fixed release date at present. We are looking at the end of September or early October as Wires said but this is still subject to change. At the present time we are in the final development/testing stages so it will depend if there are any serious issues found. Hopefully that won't happen and we will be good to go on schedule.

Hi...
Character Creator 3 will allow you to send the CC3 Base character to 3rd party software such as ZBrush or Blender to sculpt and create morphs. You can't just import custom geometry unless there is a "Transformer" profile for it. At launch profiles will be available for Daz Genesis figures, Victoria 4 and Michael 4 based figures and Hivewire figures. More profiles may become available over time.
|
By chrisk414 - 7 Years Ago
|
Hi, Peter, thanks for the answer.
Just to clarify your answer, I understand that I cannot just import custom geometries and expect it to work. The "Transformer" profile you mentioned, is this something you need to go between ZBrush and CC? I suppose it's just import profiles for importing known geometries and nothing has to do with Zbrush. But the import profile sounds very exciting and that's one of the reasons why I want all my character to based off of CC in the future.
And you also mentioned exporting CC geometries to Zbrush for morphing, I guess this is what I need. I'm not familiar with Zbrush(I'm a programmer) but can Zbrush be used to morph exported CC head to my custom head and bring it back into CC? i.e., re-topologize my custom head to CC with the shape as close as to the custom head.
I hope there are people that I can ask Zbrush questions but at the moment, there is none. And I thought this is not only related to Zbrush but related to both CC and Zbrush at the same time.
Thank you very much for your help.
-chris
|
By Peter (RL) - 7 Years Ago
|
Hi Chris,
The "Transformer" feature has nothing to do with ZBrush. It is a direct import process. You simply export the Daz or Hivewire figure to FBX and then import straight into Character Creator 3 Pipeline where the model will be converted to a CC3 Base compatible character. That character can then use all CC clothing and accessories.
Regarding your own custom heads, you can certainly send a CC3 Base character to ZBrush for re-modelling. You then import it back into CC3 where a morph slider will be created. The morph slider can quickly add your custom head to any CC3 character. You can see this process working from an older version of CC HERE. However in CC3 the process is further improved with more options.

Hi, Peter, Thanks for the quick reply.
Import profiles is really awesome. I really can't wait until I try.
Regarding my own custom head, I guess I wasn't clear what I'm trying to do. I already have a custom head. Due to IP related issue, I must keep the shape as closely as possible. Without redoing all the work, I would like to make it CC compatible from the existing geometry. I'm not familiar with Zbrush but I was wondering if using Zbrush to project CC head to my custom head and bring it back into CC somehow. Watching one of RL video, it seems like it's possible. I was quite shocked thinking that I can bring my model into CC. But then again, it's more related to Zbrush then CC. I guess for those who already have a custom model and want to bring it into CC would get quite happy to learn if they can do that easily.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

May this exemple can clarify what is CC and how to achieve custom head. 3Dtest made very convincing custom head with CC base character. The idea is to keep the exactly same vertex number and only move them and re-texturing to achieve what you want.
|
By chrisk414 - 7 Years Ago
|
Hi, mtakerart, That looks great! I have no doubt that you can pretty much create anything by push/pull the vertices while keeping the existing topology unchanged. But as I said, I already have 3d head and want to bring it to CC. I was asking if anyone know how to project CC head onto other head with different topology without doing it all manually. Theoretically projecting to similar geometry is possible with bit of manual adjustments and I was wondering if Zbrush or any other technique that CC can help. Is the only way to bring it to CC is to remap each vertices by by hand? If so, I won't be able to use CC since I have many custom heads and it will take quite long to remap it. hmm..
When I saw CC <-> Zbrush video, this is what I thought. (Imaginary workflow) 1. Export CC to Zbrush. 2. And import your custom head into Zbrush. Now you have both CC and your custom head inside of Zbrush 3. Use Zbrush to project CC model(just the head part) to your custom head. 4. Import back the projected head into CC. (During the import, CC remembers what verticies map to what part of Zbrush vertices, therefore, it can maintain the topology.)
Is this something that's possible? Or my imagination is way off.
Cheers!

If it is exactly the same vertices/polygon numbers it could be but I never heard about an application able to do this... :ermm: It's possible with DAZ characters to convert because I suppose that the new CC3 characters have exactly the same vertices.

Hi. I am wondering about this new GoZ feature in Character Creator 3....from what I can see in the WIP 1 video, the character is being sculpted in ZBrush using various tools, including Clay and Standard Brush, which,as far as I understand, change the polygon count. Is this now possible,to change the vertex count and send the model back to iClone? It sure looks that way in the video. It definitely looks like the model has been sculpted on,and not just had the same vertices moved around. If so,this would be a huge development. Can anyone clarify this? Also, are displacement and normal maps sent back from ZBrush to iClone with the character? Thanks
|
By chrisk414 - 7 Years Ago
|
Yeah, exactly, that's what I thought so to when I saw painting in GoZ, I thought immediately about projecting CC geometries to my own models and bring it back to CC. As long as it's doable in Zbrush, it seems possible but I'm wasn't certain it can be done easily. This feature will be very important for my project, able to bringing existing Heads so that I can use CC characters for my project.
Thank you very much and I'm looking forward to the positive answer.

I think you misunderstand. Daz Genesis 3 & 8 can be imported into Character Creator 3 Pipeline.
When you use 3DXchange to convert Daz Genesis characters you are left with a non-standard character that is not compatible with Character Creator and you can't change the clothing. With Character Creator 3 Pipeline all your Daz Genesis characters will become CC Base compatible and be able to swap clothing and will be compatible with all current CC clothing like the CC Essentials.

GoZ is an interface that allows easy exchange with an already installed version of ZBrush. (DAZ and some other 3D software have the same kind of interface.) Note that it doesn't work with ZBrush Lite (or whatever the cheaper version is called).

I asked the same question and this is not the answer one is hoping for when you state Character Creator 3 will be ready in September in your marketing to motivate preorders. It also makes me wonder why you haven't provided a beta for those who have preordered, which was my original question to your support email address and was directed here. As someone who has worked in the industry for years, as well as write and talk about it on 'All Things 3D', I was hoping to receive an answer to my request to be on your beta program, and would greatly appreciate it since I will have to find another solution for my animation needs for my assets in Unreal if the CC3 is pushed out past September since I am not going to spend the money for iClone 3DXchange7 Pipeline which I also thought was a misleading in your (winter) campaign to call a version "Pro" and then find out it did not include export capability unless you spent another $349 for an upgrade to "Pipeline." Frankly since all my needs for semi real-time rendering are handled by Unreal, I really like the animation tools in iClone and the character creation in Character Creator, with only missing piece being optimization and export, hence the timeliness of Character Creator 3.
Anyway, fingers crossed the marketing will match the release and no surprises on another piece I need to spend money on to complete my pipeline. (other than the intriguing Motion LIVE and LIVE FACE plugins, especially if Apple announces an iPad Pro with Facial scanning/tracking tomorrow).

Hello Everyone! Thank you all for your great patience! We are excited to announce that the Character Creator 3 - Work-in-Progress 2 today! In Work-in-Progress 1, we looked at how CC3 represents Quality Production. ( click to see the related forum thread) In Work-in-Progress 2, this WIP 2 reveals the breakthrough of how Character Creator 3 (CC3) is centered to complete the 3D game character pipeline for the industry. *iClone 7 users will get a free copy of the " Character Creator 3 for iClone" edition. See the Edition Comparison Table for more details.
Gently pushing this thread back to character creator 3 release...
Any idea whether release will happen in September?
Also: if no release in September, is there any chance to get to try WIP-2 while waiting for the official version?
Thanks

To answer your question @Rouge They did it for me why not you! I submitted a help ticket and asked if they would add the iray plug in for fifty dollars rather than returning it and repurchasing the combo!

a) Even if we are talking about it being wrong? That's not the same as encouraging it, supporting those who do it, or providing methods to accomplish it. b) True, we did drift off-topic.
REGARDING OTHER RECENT TOPIC IN THIS THREAD: c) Yes, from everyting thing I've seen over the years, Reallusion makes a very good effort to "make things right" regarding adjustments to orders, up to and including full refunds as long as the customer is reasonable. d) WIP #3? Perhaps that stands for Waiting ImPatiently. ;)

I think it will depend on the release of CC3. If there is a delay then the final video may appear first, but it could end up being at the same time as CC3 releases if there are no delays.

Kelleytoons (8/8/2018) Yes, if LOD is in iClone 7.3 we have made a HUGE leap forward (for crowds and even medium shots -- I made a Christmas video this past year for "The 12 days of Christmas" and when I even got up to "8 ladies dancing" I started to have issues (don't get me started on the drummers drumming). Given the shot we'd have reduced the poly count by at least a factor of 10 if not more (which would have been the equivalent of ONE avatar). So, hell yes, count me in on this ASAP.
In the past I used the Pop video export and import for multiple characters. Anything over 7 or 8 characters useless. The Pop video works great so long as you are not moving the camera around the pop video in your scene. However with this new LOD control this will be excellent if the characters can be imported back into iClone 7

The confirmed supported characters are Daz Genesis 3, 8, Victoria 4, Michael 4 and Hivewire figures. However Daz Genesis 1 & 2 characters can be imported but there are still some issues to iron out before we can say they are fully supported.

Unfortunately not everyone was so strongly in the opinion that it was wrong. I didn't see anyone promoting piracy or saying anything to suggest that it was not wrong. The discussion wasn't really even centered around the morality of it, but rather lost in the weeds with false comparisons and attributions. Even so, is that to suggest that having a differing opinion is against forum rules? Discussing granular details of illegal/illicit activity is against most forums' rules, but trying to regulate discussions due to the differing of opinions is... interesting to say the least.
So, as someone who pre-purchased a while ago, I would really like to see some form of update. We're halfway through the month now, and if it's not going to be released this month I'd like to be able to plan on that. My guess is that if there's no solid answer, that means QA hasn't finished on their end, which probably means development hasn't finished either. That in consideration, it seems to me that a September release is a massive stretch.

Hi... It has nothing to do with different opinions. Discussion of software theft in any form is against forum rules.

There is no official release date as yet. CC3 has tentatively been scheduled for a late September release and that still remains the case. However if a decision is made to delay because testing brings up some serious issues, I will certainly update the forum and let everyone know as soon as possible.

If it does NOT, that's not a bad thing, as they are getting it RIGHT! Thanks to Peter & Miranda for keeping us posted. ~V~

Character Creator 3 will allow you to create, save and import poses but animating your character will require iClone 7.

Will Iclone7 be updated to handle Character Creator 3 upon its release. Or will we not be able to transfer our characters from CC3 to Iclone7 for awhile while we wait for Iclone7 to update? I know IRAY won't work until Q4 in Iclone7 but I'm talking just about the updated Characters.

Quick question, what are the benefits of purchasing CC3 for character designers who do bespoke work for other people, if they can't sell characters to individuals? Most people who hire for a new character want exclusitivity so selling on the Reallusion marketplace isn't an option.

You will be able to transfer characters freely between iClone 7.3 and Character Creator 3. If you are using Character Creator 3 Pipeline then you will be able to export characters directly without requiring any other software. However CC3 Pipeline only exports the character itself it doesn't export animations. So if you wish to export the animations, then you will need to use iClone 7 and 3DXchange 7 Pipeline for this purpose.
Note: If you use Character Creator 3 For iClone (the FREE version), then you will need 3DXchange 7 Pipeline to be able to export your characters.

iClone 7 will be updated at the same time (or possibly earlier) to version 7.3 which will make it fully compatible with avatars created in Character Creator 3. :)

Character Creator 3 will allow you to create unlimited characters for use in movies, training videos, games, applications etc. and you can even sell the custom characters you create in our stores. However if you are looking to design and sell the character models directly to customers outside of our stores, then unfortunately CC3 won't be the product for you.
You have to remember that in CC3 you are not creating characters from scratch but are building characters using Reallusion's base character mesh and rig. If you want 100% control over the characters you create, then you need to do so using something like 3DS Max or Maya to build your character from the ground up with your own custom mesh and rig.

Putting a slight twist on this...
Assuming the "customer" owns iClone and the base character... In that case Tapticc would be charging for his labor to work on the customer's character. He is not actually selling the character. So that scenario would be okay, correct?

Providing the customer has purchased all the same content used with the character such as clothing and accessories then you could charge for the labor. That wouldn't be an issue.

If the release date is that close... surely the animation rendering capabilities of iRay in iClone are working well enough to demonstrate. There are many of us that can still taste the bitter disappointment of Indigo's implementation. For the record, I think the Indigo renderer is actually very good... but the integration with iC - which is RL's contribution - was barely useful for an 'animation' software.
|
By BloodPawWerewolf - 7 Years Ago
|
as a DAZ Studio user since 2014, iRay is horrible with animation. it’s so unoptimized that the general user will just give up and use an alternative renderer (Reality, Octane, UE4, Keyshot).
|
By Kelleytoons - 7 Years Ago
|
I've never used it, but my impression is that Iray is indeed NOT what you want to use for animation -- unless you don't mind taking a year or two for a half hour film (shorter projects might only take a month). For me life is WAY too short. But it's supposed to be *really* good for stills.
|
By akuei2 - 7 Years Ago
|
Forget IRAY at this moment, maybe RTX will help you in future ( BUT COST like crazy ... ). Kelly is right, live too shot. For now, focus on realtime render, whatever iclone(default render engine), blender eevee , unity, cry, ue, C4D u-render ... and so-on.
|
By justaviking - 7 Years Ago
|
I have used Iray some. It is included in both Substance Designer and Substance Painter.
a) It is ray tracing, so it is not fast. b) I find it to be faster than Indigo, but that does not mean it is fast. I have not updated Indigo for quite a while, so assume I do not have the latest version of that. c) The "new" Iray has the AI Denoiser, which looks impressive from the samples I've seen. You should be able to do a lot less rendering and then have the denoiser clean it up. But it's not magic, and you are still talking about ray tracing, which is not fast. d) "RTX" is a "future" thing for now. There will be games that support it soon. Maybe iClone will in about 5 years or something. By then you'll want to buy an RTX 4080 or RTX 5080TI or whatever the new card is at that time far, far in the future.
Best advice for TODAY is... concentrate on good lighting and good textures to make your movies look good, put work into good animation, and concentrate on a good story so people want to watch your movie. If you don't do those things anyway, ray tracing won't help.

I wonder if a 'premature render', once de-noised, would yield an acceptable 'film grain' look? *IF* it did - then Iray for animation may be viable? (I've never seen a 'de-noised' iRay image) ....

Hey there,
Ive been looking at the whole IClone / CC Pipeline in the past few days and today bought in on CC at least. I am thinking about doing an interactive short movie in VR... Maybe this was answered already... if so please apologize:
From I saw in the promo video all the old features like clothing, morphing avatars are still available, correct? Does CC3 support a workflow where the head mesh is seperate from the body? I would like to use morph targets for facial animation and I think it would help saving performance if the meshes were devided. Is it still possible to use send characters to Iclone7 and use MotionLive including Faceware, Kinect and Leap Motion? When is release? September is almost over....
Thanks for any help. Cheers, Karim.

I've also placed my order, including the essential content pack and the i-ray plug-in. My primary focus will be on importing DAZ characters and props.
Though i thought it would be a nice benefit to have some morphs and clothing. And i'm curious how the i-ray plug-in will perform. Hopefully it will render nice and fast. I want to import complete scenes from DAZ and compare the renders.
In the meantime i'm still at my iClone trial (going to purchase it when CC3 is there). It really seems that CC3 and iClone will be a nice team.

I should have known because this is not the first time that this has happened, Software development is not a thing that can be exactly judged. If you want a really buggy release then yes it can drop on time. But if you want something that has been ironed out then yes that might extend the estimated time. Never rush software releases. That ends bad. They should take their time and release it when they know its stable. Mind you theres no such thing as a perfect release for anything but they can make it better than a rushed release.

It is not only Reallusion. It's common in business in general, and it seems extra-common in the software arena.
Second Quarter = June 30 Third Quarter = "September 30
March = March 31 February = February 29 (even if it is not leap year. :P )
Yeah, software development continues to be notoriously unpredictable. I suppose a company could internally hope for August, advertise a "Dec 15th" release date, finish in October, and let it sit on their server until Dec 15, and that way they would release it "on time." That's no good either.
If they said, "Available after Sept 1" then it could be any time after Sept 1, including Oct 25, but that doesn't sound like a great plan either.

At least put where in the month the month it is most likely to come out. Late September release. It is now the 24th, I personally don't consider September 29 to 30. a "September release" because you won't be able to use it in September.

It is now the 24th, I personally don't consider September 29 to 30. a "September release" because you won't be able to use it in September.
You might not consider September 29th to 30th to be a September release but it actually is. If you were born on the 29th September would you tell everyone you were born in October? And why wouldn't you be able to use it if it came out on the 29th or even the 30th? That really doesn't make sense unless you have a super slow internet connection that is going to take you two days to download?

From I saw in the promo video all the old features like clothing, morphing avatars are still available, correct? Does CC3 support a workflow where the head mesh is seperate from the body? I would like to use morph targets for facial animation and I think it would help saving performance if the meshes were devided. Is it still possible to use send characters to Iclone7 and use MotionLive including Faceware, Kinect and Leap Motion? When is release? September is almost over....
Thanks for any help. Cheers, Karim.
Hi Karim
1. All the old features from CC2 will still work in CC3 and you will be able to use all the existing clothing and morphing features.
2. CC3 doesn't allow the creation and export of heads only. CC3 works with full bodied characters.
3. You can certainly send characters to iClone 7 and use all the existing Motion Live features with them.

It's not even late yet! :w00t: I will tell you the release date - the day you open your email & it's THERE. Need folks be reminded that sometimes software releases are delayed? iClone 7 was delayed a bit, and we waited patiently then, we wait patiently NOW. Last time I looked, September had FOUR weeks & 31 days.:Whistling: CC2 is FANTASTIC as it is right now, and CC3 WILL be delivered soon. I hope the folks griping will relax, and let Reallusion do their thing! CC3 will be here SOON, and if there is a delay, we will still be happy when it arrives:)! ~V~

robbey10 (9/23/2018) I must say that I always feel a little bit gypped when you announce a September release and we get a few days before October. I should have known because this is not the first time that this has happened,Software development is not a thing that can be exactly judged. Software development can be "judged". It very often is. Only with very fresh/junior teams do you experience issues tracking/managing deadlines. As a veteran to the industry, and the owner of a software company, I can assure you that software engineering efficiency and velocity has been recorded/properly planned for a very long time now.
I find it interesting that as soon as a person brings up release dates, people incorrectly assume that others want something rushed. Who here has said "Rush this product! Release it now with all its present bugs and lack of functionality!"? The discussion at hand is a matter of an advertised release date (and thus, people making purchasing decisions based on that) versus the real release date. As with most businesses, it boils down to customer perception vs reality.
In this case, the release was slated for September. The discussion at hand is essentially "will it release in September". Derailing that by claiming that someone who expects it in September is an idiot who expects a rushed/buggy/sub-par product is not conducive to the topic at hand, and is highly reductive. By that logic, you are indirectly claiming that anyone who believes the word of Reallusion is a buffoon, and thus calling them liars. A massive blow to both Reallusion and those who support them.
What I personally find unnerving is the total silence on the matter. I haven't planned teams' schedules around the release of this software as that'd be foolish. However, as someone who purchased based on the marketing around this product (which centered around a September release and pushed very hard for pre-orders on that premise) I'd love to know what exactly I should be planning on. I have two smaller projects that are awaiting assets, which I would love to test CC3 with (that's why they're awaiting assets). For me, this boils down to whether it will slow the projects down by a large amount or not -- presently the artists are busy with other things, but that can't hold up forever. I really don't want anyone sitting on their hands waiting for CC3 just so we can conduct a test run.
As it stands, that means the decision to either use this or not will be made when we finish up with other tasks, on the fly. Sometimes you have to do that, and that is one of the reasons we are an agile studio. However, planning is certainly nice, and I'd love to mitigate as many spur-of-the-moment decisions as I possibly can. I don't want to continue down our normal routine, only to have CC3 release a week after we make that decision. If we could be informed beforehand, we can make an informed decision without any surprises. Even if the only information we receive is, "Sorry, we will likely be pushing it back to mid-October", we can at least know that the wise decision is to not wait for CC3 on these projects. If we get a surprise and it releases September 28th or October 1st, so be it, we still made a more informed decision based on the communication we were given.
I don't want anything rushed. I don't want a product that is going to crash and cause grief for artists. I'm not here to ask for that. I'm here to ask for communication, which does not seem like a tall order. I have to communicate with investors on the regular, and when it comes to deadlines it's not all rainbows and unicorns. However, the communication is still there. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask to be treated like an adult that can handle the pushing of a deadline. I'm not asking for a guaranteed release date, either.
I'm simply asking if it presently looks like it will actually be released in September. If so, great, I'll make tentative plans around that. If not, great, I'll make tentative plans around that instead. I'm not going to complain if it won't make it to a September release. On the contrary, I will be relieved that the information was actually communicated, rather than simply waiting around to find out.
This post is made with respect to Reallusion and the entire team. I'm here because I'm excited to test the product, and I really like what I've seen of CC3 so far. Sometimes it's difficult to convey things over text, and my approach is often very direct anyway. In person it's a lot easier to judge that a direct question or statement is not said with malice. All things considered, if I've said something that seems like a jab, that was not my intention. I'm just crossing my fingers for an update of any kind, not to rush/judge/criticize/complain.

I guess I got lost in your sea of "I don't know" and missed the most recent post by you. It's a massive stretch to claim that you "have said numerous times that CC3 is still on course for a late September release", though, considering you said it exactly once. Perhaps "total silence" was a bit of a vague statement; I was simply ignoring the fact that a bunch of "I don't know" answers had been posted, and was referring to staff. I apparently incorrectly assumed you were not staff due to your lack of pulse on the development process.
I'm also learning that, unlike 99.9% of threads where statuses are posted, you don't update the original post with updates, but rather expect people to sift through 10-15 people asking "are we on track" to every singular response (which has been "I don't know" up until the one recent response).
In any case, thanks for the... Great? Communication. Your response is right in line with what one could probably expect from someone in your position, which is actually why I kind of assumed you were a community moderator as opposed to actual staff. Linking to a post is out of the question, quoting a post is out of the question, updating the original post is out of the question, and if someone doesn't actually sift through pages upon pages of random chatter to find a needle in a haystack, you're going to be sure to let them know just how inconvenienced you are by their bringing up a lack of communication. Sums up pretty much everyone in any sort of online moderation position nicely.

Just doing a search for the word "September" and Peter's name.... (See below) In addition to Peter's posts, there have also been comments by other people repeating the still-official "September" release timeline, so that's probably why if feels like it's been said a lot lately.
Peter (RL) (9/22/2018) The plan is still to release at the end of September but should there be any last minute problems it may slip to early October. Hopefully not though. :)
Peter (RL) (9/20/2018) Character Creator 3 is still scheduled for a late September or early October release. If there are any changes to this I will let everyone know. :)

Peter (RL) (9/16/2018) There is no official release date as yet. CC3 has tentatively been scheduled for a late September release and that still remains the case. However if a decision is made to delay because testing brings up some serious issues, I will certainly update the forum and let everyone know as soon as possible.

This "I demand an exact release date" is getting kind of ridiculous. Post after post is wasted on that topic instead of discussing the actual CC3.
And yes I have also worked in software development, and I have seen the detrimental effect of "management" forcing/promising a particular release date. Heading a software company doesn't impress me and is different from doing the actual work.

I'll admit there were a few releases where I felt Reallusion had put me in a spot by announcing the pre-release seemingly out of the blue and then offering such a steep discount I felt compelled to buy even though I had not budgeted for the release. Maybe I've just gotten used to their marketing style, or perhaps they are simply doing a better job of communicating their plans and the status of their upcoming products. This time I knew CC3 was coming, and made sure I could comfortably afford it (again failing to take into account that I'd want to buy the associated content bundle). So when September rolled around I made a note to watch the calendar and not let too much time pass before making my purchase. I thought it might be released by the middle of the month at the earliest, and hoped there would be a reminder notice if a release was just around the corner. Last week they sent out the last chance notice, and I finally made my purchase on Friday. So say what you will, they made a sale. They built up anticipation, offered a number of attractive deals to accommodate the range of customer needs and budgets, then sent out the reminder not to let it pass by. I can certainly understand why those who bought as soon as the product was offered for sale would like to have the product delivered. At the same time, I am glad they gave me time to buy it at the sale price. Will it go up to normal price the day it is released, or will the sale be magically extended to through the end of the month and perhaps well into the next? Honestly, it really doesn't matter to me that much. If I didn't want the product I would not have bought it ever, and if their psychological tactics managed to make me buy it sooner than I otherwise would have, at least I knew in advance their plans to release it around this time. Ultimately, I simply can't complain if they are able to shift the maximum number of units while generating the fewest complaints. It's probably better for business in the long term to keep a percentage of customers waiting a short time longer than to rush it out the door before everyone who is considering a purchase has a chance to buy it. I'm imagine there are likely prospective buyers who would be quite disappointed to log on tomorrow or a few days from now and find that the product had just released, and the sale was over just like that. It would be nice if the planned length of the pre-sale could be made known in advance, but it seems dependent on when the product finally ships.

Kelleytoons (9/24/2018) Silly me -- I hope it's not released until it's finished.
But for those of you who want it before that time -- be careful what you wish for.
We're all very eager for CC3 because it has features we've been dying to have for years and we all have various projects in different stages awaiting its arrival but I'm with you, Kelleytoons, and the others who said this. As eager as I am, I don't want a buggy program. Release it when it's ready to be released - period. If you made promises based on an estimated timeline and didn't account for potential delays, that's on you - not the development team. It's software development. Weird stuff happens when you get to QA and things you never accounted for pop up and send you scrambling to fix.
So, Peter (RL) and the devs, ignore the noise, keep your heads down and when you're ready, we're ready.

Updated version is free for previous owners. I just got an email about that. The new version is NOT compatible with CC2, so you would need to make a backup of the previous version.

danielswright2311_182877 (9/27/2018) I am, I think I'm off to the store to get a better graphics card, they should know to make there products work for integrated Graphics cards.
Its not hard to make it work with all graphics cards.
I have to disagree. Many 3D programs require a powerful graphics card. The system requirements for iClone and CC are clearly stated, including that integrated graphics cards are not supported. Support for those cards would bring the graphics capabilities of the software down to a mediocre level.

Its not hard to make it work with all graphics cards.
Character Creator 3 will not work with Intel integrated graphics. You need a mid-high end dedicated graphics card preferably from Nvidia for best performance.
Please see the page below for a list of supported graphics cards.

You need to install Character Creator 3 first, then the Resource pack, then install the Character Creator 3 Pipeline extension if applicable.
Check in the Reallusion Hub or your Member Account > Registration page for the download links.

Just to make sure I’m clear, if CC3 pipeline is my first reallusion purchase I need to keep refreshing my registration page until the CC3 Base download is listed? I can see the CC3 pipeline extension and have downloaded it but no CC3 base program yet. Just want to make sure I’m looking in the right place. :)

I have the same (similar?) issue as wungun. I received the link for the CC Essentials upgrade and successfully installed it, but I get watermarks in view ports / render windows and purple sliders for many of the morph sliders.
I've tried activation and 1 click verification. Neither helped. I even tried the buy trial from the help menu and was taken to a shopping cart page listing the morphs with a note that those morphs aren't available for purchase.

Hi, guys, I just downloaded CC3 and I'm a new user. The main reason I bought CC3 is so that I can import the characters in to my game. I tried to import the full body characters and it work as expected, however I can't figure out how to import just Cloths, for example, so that I can exchange them in the game engine. Doesn't CC3 support exporting Cloth indendently? If so, I cannot use CC3 for my game as non-customizable character isn't useful at all. I hope there is a way CC3 can support. If it isn't supported yet, do you have a plan to support it? Until it supports, are there any workaround for exporting Cloths?
Thank you very much for your help.
Cheers!

I'm trying to install my previous purchases for Character Creator 1 & 2, (Clothes, Hair, Props, and other bundles) I was told it would work on CC3 and I'm currently having a hard time installing the items. I keep getting a prompt stating "Failed to load the installation configuration for cc3" . I went into my inventory online and select Character Creator assets to be downloaded, I then selected the CC3 installation path and tried installing the items but they will not install. I'm also having installation issues with the updated character essentials. As far as the Iray and Material 600 bonus, that installed fine. I had some of the same issues that others had yesterday, but those have been addressed. So far everything seems to be on par except for the previous CC1 & CC2 assets installation and the Essentials update installation. If anyone has some insight please leave me some feedback. I'm using the Pipeline edition of CC3. Thank you.

Its easer to export a different version of each model with different clothes, then up date the model in your game as such as I do, this is how Its done far back as I can remember.

tomcleaver (9/28/2018) Are you guys planning on supporting GTX 10 series and RTX 20 series graphics cards for CC3?
The GTX 10 series works for sure.
The RTX 20 series will work (99.99% certain), but you will not have any "RTX" benefits in the Reallusion world (100% certain) for the foreseeable future.

Ok, so now my cc3 is working but real slow, so I took a little time to test it, till my new graphics card gets here, and I have a real question.
How do I add animations before export?
There are only poses and no place to add animations.

CC3 does not support animation. You need iClone for that.

tomcleaver (9/28/2018) Are you guys planning on supporting GTX 10 series and RTX 20 series graphics cards for CC3? GTX 10 series is already supported (has been since it came out), and RTX 20 should work too, although it's currently a waste of money. Better off with a 1080 Ti.

danielswright2311_182877 (9/25/2018) I'm, wondering, If I am finished with a character and I load in animations to the character and export it, will it be animated as a set numbered set of frames or we have to export each animated model per animation. Like it just exports one animation at a time per model? You can add multiple animations to be exported with the character and each motion clip can be of varying lengths (frames).
|

|
danielswright2311_182877 (9/28/2018) I was told diffrent, that you can load animations to export with each model, I was told this on this thread by Peter. So that's a new feature than for CC3... The question then indeed becomes how?
EDIT: So I checked the manual and it is part of the section about exporting:
http://manual.reallusion.com/Character_Creator_3/ENU/3/Default.htm#Character_Creator_3/3/17_Export/Exporting_FBX_Characters_with_iMotion.htm%3FTocPath%3DExport%7CExporting%2520FBX%2520Characters%2520(New)%7C_____1
This is for Motions. If you want facial expressions as well you need the part about MotionPlus.
BTW, I haven't tried this, I'm just quoting the manual.

We cross-posted. I don't work for RL, so I can't really help in regards your expectations.
I have used Character Creator since version 1, when it couldn't export anything. More export functionality has been added over time, but it is primarily a tool to create characters.

I toltally confused trying to read through all this lot
I brought CC3 with the iRay package and now I see I have to have iClone 7 to install that because the base CC3 only comes with that I was lead to believe by the advertising that CC3 was a stanalone program. All I have for download links is the CC3 Extentions and the iRay package I DON'T own any other products are you saying I wasted my money unless I find and shall out $900 to $1000 NZ dollars for iClone 7?
