I just purchased I Clone 7 and installed it, but CC says 'Setup program did not find IClone 7'

I Clone 7 starts. I don't know what to do yet, but I know it runs.
I did notice I Clone 7 was installed Program Files, not Program Files(64), I guess I will try reinstalling to there?

I wish I had phone support just for the first two weeks.

By justaviking - 7 Years Ago
I don't think installing it into a different system folder is the solution.

(Oh, wait, which one are you talking about reinstalling?  I just realized I could read your text in either of two ways.  I have BOTH iClone and CC in the "Program" non-64 folder.)

Did you install CC before or after iClone?  I believe you always need to install iClone first, then the version-compatible CC and 3DXchange after installing iClone.

By animagic - 7 Years Ago
"Program Files" is the correct folder for 64-bit programs; there is no Program Files (64) folder. The folder for legacy 32-bit programs is Program Files (x86), which is no longer used for iClone as it is 64-bit only.

As far as the order in which to install, follow Viking's guidance: iClone first and then CC and 3DXchange.
By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago
Ok, you're right Program Files (86) is for 32 bit. I had a couple of beers at dinner last night and not much sleep the night before.

But I think both of you can't read when it comes to installing IClone 7 first (no duh).

I said I could start I Clone 7, so I am pretty sure that means I Clone 7 was already installed.

I purchased I Clone 7 Pipeline bundle. But the .exe available to download from their site is named 'IC7_Enu.exe'. Is there a Pipeline I Clone 7? The Character Creator download available is named 'ic3DXchange7Pipeline_Enu_Full.exe'.

And I realize you are both trying to help me, so sorry if I am sarcastic. People skills is my weakest skill. I just wish instead of a message saying 'Setup can't find IClone 7, it would say 'Browse for I Clone 7', or tell you what registry setting it is looking for or some way to know how to continue without waiting 48 hours for speedy Reallusion support.

The Character Creator download available is named 'ic3DXchange7Pipeline_Enu_Full.exe'.

Sorry Mister

but this * .exe is NOT for installing "Character Creator 2.3" but to install
"3dxchance 7 pipeline". This program has nothing to do with the To do "character creator"
The installation file for the "Character Creator 2.3" they should from your user account can download. (See image)

I would uninstall the already installed IClone 7 socket (you need to be connected to the internet)

Then reinstall IC 7 (you may download the latest version of IC 7.21 from your user account -soo Pictur from this Side))
Then install "Character Creator 2.3"

Then install "3dx7 pipeline" (This will install itself in the folder "Program (x86) because 32 bit program

IC 7.21 as well as "CC 2.3" and "3dx7 Pipeline" should run smoothly then

The Pipeline version consists of 3 Products, and some Bonus content. Log in to your account on the main Reallusion page and under Order History" select "Registration". This will open up a Window showing all your purchased and registered software and looks something like the screen shot below:

https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/6c05a895-50ed-417a-871d-068d.png

You need to download each of the 3 items, and any Bonus/Resource Packs available. These are shown when you click on the "Download" link.

When you have downloaded everything then install in the order already posted, making sure to install each Bonus/Resource Pack as well.

If you still have difficulties then post back with as much information as possible, including screen shots of any and all error massages that may pop up. This makes solving the problems much easier than trying to decode snappy one liners.

I know where the Download my product link is. I am a programmer with 20 years experience.

After installing, some product that I don't even know what it does '3D Exchange' says 'Setup program cannot find the I Clone 7' (exact words).

I am beginning to wonder why I purchased I Clone 7. So far I don't like it, but I haven't had time to play around with it yet.

By Postfrosch - 7 Years Ago
Here are some questions:

Does the installation of "Character Creator" work?
(You're always jumping between "CC" and "3dx7" installation back and forth)

Did you install the trial version before installing the purchased IC 7?
If so -
did you uninstall this trial version before installing the full version?
If you had the Tral and did not install them, you probably have the Installation of the full version NOT working!

So my advice: Uninstall the IC 7 version and reinstall it.
Since you are a 20 year programmer, that should not be a big problem for you
I can not advise you anymore. Otherwise you have to wait unfortunately for the support.

I meant to say 3D Exchange. I haven't even tried to install Character Creator.

I do not even know what 3D Exchange does, or why I bought it.
By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago
FYI, Character Creator installed just fine. The problem is with 3DExchange, something isn't looking in the right place.

By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago
I stand corrected. Character Creator did install, but then I got a message 'Failed to load File'.

Upon subsequent attempt to start I got a message my Graphics Card doesn't support Direct X 11, which it does, so I am getting a refund.

By sonic7 - 7 Years Ago
Hi .... I'm not a 'techy guy' .... but to answer your comment:
" ......I do not even know what 3D Exchange does, or why I bought it......"
3DXchange will enable you to bring in 'import' all sorts of models, sets, props and Character Avatars INTO iClone.
It can do many other things as well: .... here, I just googled a more concise answer .....

3DXchange is a robust, streamlined conversion and editing tool that connects iClone to a universe of 3D content. Users are able to import bi-ped, animated skin-bone characters and their animations for use in iClone, or users can choose to also export iClone characters and animations to external 3D applications or real-time game engines.

Edit: The above is the more accurate definition....

Thank you for your reply. I have already requested a refund for I Clone7.
I also don't like staring at dark screens for any length of time.

So you already knew iClone 7 was going to be dark but you bought it anyway?  Something is weird here -- you have a lot more than just a few posts, so without checking I'm going to assume you've either used iClone before in *some* iteration (and therefore knew about the interface) or something else is fishy.

In any case, since you've requested a refund I assume you don't need any further help from us.  Have a great life.

No I never used I Clone. I have purchased Crazytalk 3 Pipeline, and Crazytalk 8 Pipeline.

Last time I installed a trial of Crazytalk Animator, and then purchased the full version the next day.

15 days later my software quit working due to the trial ending, even though I had uninstalled the trial prior to installing Pipeline.
Reallusion has inconsistencies across their software.
The one thing I liked about I Clone 7, was it had a "poor man's font selector", where I could select Large, Medium or Small.
A simple Font Selector, and a light colored theme selector is needed.
As for why I bought Pipeline, I am starting an animation company (Delta House Productions), and I have gotten really good at animation in only a few weeks. I thought I Clone 7 was what I needed to go to the next level, but it looks like his has more learning curve than I have time for. Also, it looks like Reallusion wants you to go buy other content to be able to use it, and I either create my own or buy my own content from other places.
I do hate having to install a bunch of different .exes every time I buy a content pack. I have no way of knowing if I have installed everything I bought, unless I go install them all again.
But when you have two problems out of 3 programs I bought, their program has bugs.

By sonic7 - 7 Years Ago
If you have the ablity to create your own content then that's a big plus ....
The iClone system brings together so many aspects of this art - and because of that, it all dove-tails together nicely.
Otherwise, you'd probably have to learn several (perhaps unrelated) programs in order to get your work flow in place ...
By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago
I am sure buying something produced is more time efficient, I just have more time than money.
I also like having 'original' content; I should have started with I Clone 7 in baby steps, but not having all the bells and whistles make me feel like I am missing out on something.
Trying to learn too many things at once and brain overloads is probably part of the problem.
I am sure it is a great product and the YouTube videos made it look simple.
Thanks for answering, This thread can be closed, I don't see a 'Close without marking as answering or I would.'

Just to let you know DJ, I'm in exactly the same situation ...
Is it 'overwhelming' ? - yes - for me it is .... (I originally 'joined' the forum 3 years ago - but didn't do a thing with the then 'iclone 5' I think).
I'm now a couple of months in to my 2nd time around and I'm 'inching' my way through at a snails pace ...
The way I figure it, if I'm using programs which are all from the same designer - then this old brain has a lot better chance of producing something than if I had to learn several programs each from different makers.
So that's why I'm here ....  :)

I think I was better at learning new stuff when I first started programming. I wish I was the director of software development for Reallusion, I would have complete consistency across all products.
I have a few buttons I could place that would save me a lot of time, but I know they have a mac product and a Windows product, and making those two applications behave the same means some functions that both OS users are used to have to be compromised.
Other than that though, I had the balls to tell my company I needed a raise after a quarter decade at my job (last Monday), due to the fact the job market is good and if not I think I will be able to quit my day job before year's end.

I have thought this many times before though, ended up homeless. My whole life is steak or crackers; I enjoy the good time during the steak, which comes from my day job, so I am trying to be smarter this time and do both since I have the best day job ever. I work 6 hours per day, from home Monday - Thursday. It is only 24 hours per week, but with all my other personal projects it gives me time.

I just see people on YouTube make a living that are idiots, and tech billionaires that I can do any thing they can do and I make 1 millionth the pay. Pesky day jobs are so annoying, but thank God for them!

24 hours per week leaves a fair amount of time over for creating! :)
By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago
Yeah it does; I just finished running 5 miles per day for a year, and that took an hour a day, and walking my dog takes another couple a day. Because I dress the same and sit in the same chair on my day's off, he can't tell the difference between a work day and a not work day (they blur to me also).
24 hour is official; sometimes it goes way over, but I will work all weekend for free to keep my day job happy. I used to drive 45 minutes to work on a good day, and I would be tired before I even started work. For what I do, which is just me and a computer, offices are actually distracting. Even as a contractor you can't be rude when a lady that sits near you wants to talk about little Suzie's soccer game, but every two minute interruption takes me a few more minutes to remember what I was doing.
I started working at home and no one at my company noticed for 4 months. I had to tell threaten to quit at one point, and they realized replacing me would cost them 3 months so they changed their 'Must be in the office' real fast.

Of course you have iClone installed.

When I said to "install iClone first," I meant to install it before installing Character Creator.

If you intalled CC first, then iClone, you would be able to run iClone fine, but the CC-to-iClone connection would probably not work.  Since iClone was nowhere to be found when you installed CC, CC would not know that iClone is on your system and where it is.  (Same with 3DXchange.)  Same for applying updates (7.1, 7.1, etc.).  Update iClone first, then CC and 3DXchange.

Anyway, if you're requesting a refund, that's okay.  Reallusion does have a good reputation of honoring refund requests that are made before the refund window has closed.

By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago

And when I said Character Creator, I meant 3DExchance, but I meant it won't install AFTER I installed I Clone 7.

I Clone 7 is listed first in the downloads after you purchase, why would anyone install one of the other 'Plug Ins' first, unless they don't understand what 'Add On' means.

Sorry, I am new to I Clone 7, not new to planet Earth.

I have already initiated the refund, due to two of 3 products in a bundle will not install (Character Creator says I do not have a Direct X 11 Driver, which I find odd since every other video / animation product I have works.

(Character Creator says I do not have a Direct X 11 Driver, which I find odd since every other video / animation product I have works.

It may be, but not every video or animation product needs DirectX 11.
Some are quite satisfied with 9 or 10
That's why my question:
Which operating system do you use: Win 7/8/10?
Which graphics card do you have?
By Data Juggler - 7 Years Ago
I don't know, I just know I paid extra for a high end graphics card when I bought my new computer.

I am sorry, I am at my day job now; I know you are all trying to help.

I bought something because I am in impulse shopper; I thought I needed to do 3D Animation.
For what I do, which is make comedy / animated videos, Crazytalk Animator and Crazytalk 8 is enough.

I don't know how to create 3D Models of my own, if I knew how to do that, I might like IClone 7, but Paint.Net can handle all my 2D needs, and it is simple for anything I need to do.

Thank you, and I know you were trying to help me, for free, so I appreciate that.

I just spread too thin, I barely have scratched the surface on Crazytalk Animator and Crazytalk 8, trying to add an extra dimension I am sure only adds to my learning curve.

I just wish I had someone to pay for an hour of on demand tour; a manual and a bunch of tutorials would require too much undivided attention for too long. Sorry, people skills are something I try and work on, but I type 90+ WPM, "niceness" requires slowing down the brain.

I will come back to I Clone someday when I have time to sit down and learn.

You don't need to downgrade anything.

DirectX 12 is fully backwards compatible with DirectX 11. It's not like DirectX 9 which required a separate install. iClone and Character Creator will both run fine under Windows 10 and DirectX 12 providing you have a compatible graphics card.

I spend every waking moment that I am home in front of a computer; I don't drive but back when I used to drive I would spend $20,000 on a car and spend an hour or two a day in it. Luckily you can get a really good computer in the $1,500 range. I am waiting for a few generations of 10 nm chips before I upgrade again, but I am fairly confident my computer meets the minimum for most any game or graphics program.
And again thank you for trying to post, I was reading my earlier posts, and that guy was an a#sh0le. One day I will master people skills.
I even wrote an email sentiment program once but the company that I worked for never could sell it. Imagine an entire company with hundreds or thousands of employees; someone is going to offend someone or say the wrong thing. Microsoft has a Sentiment analysis web servicel that measures the 'Tone' of text (for an email or other)
I quit working for that company that was wanting to build it (because they ran out of money), but I may build it just for me to help with 'Pleasantness'. I am really not a jerk, I only get frustrated when I spend a lot of money and can't play with my new toys.
It has to be the setup program is just not looking in the right place. I will start over after work and try again.

As Postfrosch already suggested, do make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. This could well be the problem.

Also if your computer has switchable graphics (both Intel and Nvidia), please do ensure you are running iClone and Character Creator with the more powerful Nvidia graphics card. Do not choose the Intel graphics option. A lot of times you can do this by right clicking the iClone 7 or CC desktop icon and choosing "Run With Graphics Processor". Alternatively use the Nvidia Control Panel or your computers switcher software to ensure that iClone is using the correct graphics.

Do also run Windows Update to ensure your system is fully updated. In Windows 10 go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and then "Check For Update".

(resume unpleasantness, apologies)
No you are missing the point. I don't design my system around 1 piece of software.
If it isn't going to install, then I will get my money back.
The specs in the link you sent said NVidia 600 or higher. I am not a math expert, but I am pretty sure 950 is higher than 600.
According to Wikipedia:
The 600 series was released in 2012, and the 900 Series in Feb. 2016.
If my system is not 'Optimized' than it is because I have updated my system and Reallusion hasn't

If there is more to the story, I don't care.
My issue is with their support, not you, but you are defending them and blaming me for their software not installing, than I have to take offense.
$600 is enough I would expect the software to install.
(resume pleasantness).

Thanks for replying

My drivers quit for lack of payment. I don't know how to review a driver.

When programmers have a hardware problem we point and say 'Change the light bulb, that is a hardware issue.'

Exactly, RL has not updated
IClone 7 was released in July 2017. Nivide 900 series cards are up and running.
The higher the number the better
I also had Nividia 970 running at this time.
It worked fine (after I had the latest driver installed)
The 900 series of Nivida running has been recognized by IClone /, CC and so on

But if you still drive with the driver of the first installation,
then it is more than likely that the driver is no longer up-to-date.

IC needs the newest driver. The year 2016 is outdated.

Thank you very much for that explanation, now I understand. I always hated the 'For Dummies' title, but the explanations were usually the best.

This is my favorite joke about tech support:

A helicopter was flying around above Seattle yesterday when an
electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic
navigation and communication equipment. Due to the clouds and haze
the pilot could not determine his position or course to steer to the
airport. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew
a handwritten sign and held it in the helicopter's window. The sign
said "WHERE AM I ?" in large letters.

People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a
large sign and held it in a building window. Their sign said, "YOU
ARE IN A HELICOPTER." The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map and
determine the course to steer to SEATAC (Seattle/Tacoma) airport and
landed safely.

After they were on the ground, the co-pilot asked the pilot how the
"YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position. The
pilot responded, "I knew that had to be the MICROSOFT building
because they gave me a technically correct but completely useless
answer."

Could this explain why I thought a few of the demo scenes were kind of dark and dreary. I wasn't as impressed as I had been on some videos I watched about it once I saw it on my computer.

If the demo scene utilized "Global Illumination" (GI) that could well be the reason for it being dark.

There are a couple buttons near the top-right portion of the screen to turn on GI.  I don't have a screen shot handy (and I'm not sitting at my fun computer), otherwise I'd send a picture because it is easy to draw arrows and circles on pictures.

It got further this time, but now it says 'Failed to load file', then stopped responding and Windows closed it (I didn't even have to use Task Manager), or it closed itself.

I was just about to offer you a tenth of 1% out of my second million if I ever make it, but this just might not be meant to be for me.

My list of projects is already at about 12, so I may have to wait. Although the scene that loads with the rafters at the beginning of IClone is exactly what I need for a bit I already have written.
I have a character named Mousse (like hair gel) but his nick name is Stand Up (because his hair sticks straight up) but he thinks he is a stand up comic.
He says 'A giraffe walks into a bar', just as Geoffrey (Toys R Us Giraffe hit a rafter and a ding plays).
Not sure about why these products are not installing for me; when I used to play pool for a living (two lifetimes ago), a friend of mine used to call me Schleprock; the character on the Flintstones who always had a dark cloud above his head. It would be sunny everywhere else, and above him storms.
That is kind of my luck sometimes. I still haven't heard from Reallusion; you should send them an invoice.

I just uninstalled and requested a full refund since I found one of the products I bought is being discontinued (3D Exchange).

I paid extra to get it, but Character Creator 3 will replace 3D Exchange, and I can never get 2 of the 3 programs installed.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me; I know it isn't your fault I am frustrated with Reallusion, so I apologize for being rude.

I had already said I wasn't going to buy any more products until they had a phone number, then I violated my own rules and bought it because I thought it looked neat, but a company that doesn't warn me a product I am paying extra to get is going to get discontinued, I don't trust.

That's rubbish.
3dx will probably expire when IClone 8 appears.
Charcater Creator 3 will NOT replace 3dx.
It looks like you will need to stand alone in CC 3 but you will not need 3dx. Since the CC is only responsible for avatars you would need to replace 3dx already import and export functions in IC 7. However, these will not come before the release of IC 8

It was just announced at some Reallusion Road Map event, even Gerry or whatever his name is said 'That's Interesting'. Or put it this way, 3D Exchange wasn't listed in the road map.

Character Creator still crashes, I am just getting refund, they still haven't replied to my support requests from Monday, so I told them they should focus on support as it makes them a horrible company. If I have to pay more for support fine, but to wait 3 days is not timely.

I just spent 4 hours watching Microsoft update my system, the whole time trying to redirect asteroids with my mind to Seattle. If they ever put a 'Don't Turn Off Your Computer', right next to it should be an 'Abort this update, I don't want it'. Come home and want to work a little on my stuff after working for my day job all day, and I have to watch Windows Update and no way to stop it.

I am going to bed, I got up at 3 yesterday and now it is almost 3 today.
