Dear 3DXchange 7 Users,

It's that time again when we have another new 3DXchange 7 update and need your continued assistance to help us track down any remaining bugs, glitches or other annoying issues.

Important: If you do find any bugs, issues or glitches in the 7.7 update, please can you report them first in the Feedback Tracker. Then feel free to discuss the issues in this thread. However do make use of the Feedback Tracker first to log the issue.

As always it will help us greatly if we can keep all outstanding issue discussion in the one place (this thread). This will help the development team keep track of any problems.

Please do try to provide your full system specifications and a detailed description of the problem when reporting issues. If you can provide steps so we can try and reproduce the problem this will be even better. If the issue has been previously reported, please post a link back to the original report.

The new enhancements relate to Daz Genesis characters when imported into 3DXchange 7.21. You can find details HERE.

Wouldn't hurt to include the 3DXchange enhancements on the 3DXchange page.


I ask this from time-to-time...  Do we now need to re-report all our unresovled issues against the new version?  (Or do we only need to do that after a major release, such as when v8 comes out?)

SO I'm not sure if this is a bug yet, or if it's something I'm doing wrong.
None of my Daz Genesis 3 characters are auto loading the Daz profiles on import. I tried a mixamo model, that works fine. But yeah, 7.2, and now 7.21 have given me a lot trouble with Daz characters and now it seems to be getting worse.
So I can characterize the skeleton manually, and quickly using the profile, but then that doesn't seem to cover facial or material import presets. I'm getting pretty tired of all this so before I go back to 3dXchange 7.0 (where all this just works), Is anyone else having this problem?
How can I get 3Dxchange to assign the face shapes to visemes automatically when it bypasses that on import?

Back when 7.0 was released, it was recommended we re-post our unresolved 6.0 FT issues in the 7.0 section of FT.  I think the "Mirror prop" was a specific example.  Maybe that guidance was "just to be sure," but as you can tell it rubbed me the wrong way.  Not only would be extra work for your users, it dilutes the votes.  If a bunch of people voted on the 6.0 version of the issue, but only a few vote for the 7.0 version, it might be misinterpreted as waning interest, when really it is a result of people having already cast a precious vote when it was first reported.

Ideally, I think it would be nice for a Reallusion intern to move unresolved (but still relevant) issues forward to the new version, especially after a major release.

I will try to trust that unresolved issues reported against 6.0 are not being forgotten.

So here i am again with more problems.  I seem to spend more time resolving or should i say trying to resolve problems with Reallusion products than i do actually earning a living.  something has to give here but lkie an addict i carry on but time is running out, bills have to be paid!!

So whats the issue today...........3DX Change 7 which was not exactly cheap for doing not much more than before!! 

Try to bring assets in from Sketchfab ... only achieved one assty in, all others rejected by 3DX Change.

Try to bring in assets from CGTrader , took a week to work out workarounds,  facecounts too high etc!!!! FFS

Try to bring in 2018 models from Sketchup , no only allows 2015 models!! WTF

Please are we the only firm having problems with 3DX Change????????

We have to eat, and to eat we have to work and we are getting nowhere with the time we spend on constant problems and issues. i think i am going insane with this and one of the guys here already has!

Hi Richard,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with 3DXchange 7.

Can you give us some examples of the models that you are having problems getting 3DXchange to open so we can test them. 

Regarding Sketchup models, you are correct that 3DXchange can only open models in the 2015 format, but that shouldn't really be a problem as most models from the Trimble Warehouse can be downloaded in 2015 format. And for your own Sketchup models you can choose to save in 2015 format as well as the latest 2018 format.

As this was a relatively minor update for 3DXchange 7, the full version remains at 7.2. It will likely not be updated until 7.3.

For the Daz Genesis Extensions, version 4 is the latest. The version number is included in the filename for this zip file.

Not really a bug just can't figure out the work flow.  Trying to import some cute Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 animations into iclone 7 but not successful.  I had imported many Genesis 2 animations with no problem.  When I get to 3dxchange, something goes wrong at the motion retargeting process.  After converting to non standard and selecting the Daz4Genesis presets, the circle stays red and I can't go any farther.  Is there a different work flow for bringing in a BVH for Genesis 3 and 8?

I downloaded the trial for iclone and 3dxchange yesterday and was considering buying it until I tried to start 3dxchange and found it just pops up and vanishes immediately.  Then I remembered that was the reason I didn't buy either program 2 years ago when I tried them.  I've never been able to get any version of  3dxchange to run on my computer.  I have Windows 10 with a GTX 970.  My only interest is in using iclone for vr animations. I haven't gotten around to looking at all the new features in iclone 7 but I'm guessing it still has no stereoscopic 360 cameras so without 3dxchange it's useless to me.

Is there a fix for the issue I'm having?

Sorry to hear you are having problems. This is unusual as 3DXchange is not a particularly demanding program to run.

Please first try updating your graphics drivers and ensure you have the latest available. Please see the link below to check.

If your computer has switchable graphics, please do ensure you are running 3DXchange 7 with the more powerful Nvidia graphics card. Do not choose the Intel graphics option. You can normally do this by right clicking the 3DXchange 7 desktop icon and choosing "Run With Graphics Processor".

Please also run Windows Update to ensure your system is fully updated.

In Windows 10 go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and then "Check For Update".

Now try right clicking the 3DXchange 7 desktop icon and choose "Run As Administrator" and see if this allows it to run.

If you still have problems after checking the above, please can you send your dxdiag.txt file to Support using the link below so they can check your system for any problems.

a) Type "dxdiag.exe" in the Search box and click "dxdiag.exe run command" from the search list.
b) It will then check your system for a while, after finishing, click "save all information"
c) Save "DxDiag.txt". and send this to us as an attachment.

I managed to get it working with a fix in another thread somewhere.  I have my computer hooked up to a 55 inch 4k tv.  Usually there's no big issues with scaling but all the Reallusion programs (character creator, clone....) are a little messed up for me. Tiny buttons and tools or text that goes behind another pannel etc.  No settings will fix this on either my computer or television. 
Apparently 3dxchanges complete failure to run at all was something to do with this issue. 
THE FIX
     I clicked on the icon for 3dxchange and went to compatibility, "Change high DPI settings" and checked Override high DPI scaling behavior.
In the dropdown below I changed it to "System (enhanced)"

3dxchange now runs and any abnormalities in the other Reallusion programs seem to be fixed when I repeated the process with them.



Hope this helps someone else.

There is no grid in Orthogonal mode in face and profile.
I do as written in the documentation:

Make sure the grid is On (Shortcut: Ctrl + G).
Go to the View >> Camera Projection menu and select the Orthogonal command to change the camera view to Orthogonal mode (Shortcut: Ctrl + Q).

Note
You may optionally adjust the density of the grid lines via the Preference panel (Shortcut: Ctrl + P).

Press the F or A, S keys to switch the camera to a front or side views of the character. The front view is suitable for adjusting the hands, and the side views are useful for modifying the head, spines and legs.

The Grid is present, your Bear is standing on it, just as the Truck in the shot below is standing on it when viewed from the Front.

Yes, right. That is how the grid in Orthogonal would be viewed for profile and front regardless of camera height - a straight line because it is not a true 3D view (unlike isometric).

But I may understand what dogged2003 meant. He probably wants a new feature.
Like in Blender. If you do 5 (orthogonal/isometric switch) and then 1 or 3 on keypad, the auxiliary, auto scale-able grid is applied to view-port (even if floor grid is turned OFF).
This helps a lot while tweaking/aligning objects. But that's Blender.

I am on the other hand still waiting for Orthogonal camera view in iClone. Justavikings FT issue since 2 years ago is still Active

I get distorted morphs after exporting iClone avatar via 3DXchange. tried to open in 3DSXax and Unity with the same results, tried changing export settings, changing animations and fixing rig in CC3, nothing worked, it seams that face is moved a bit back when morph is applied. If I disable morphs everything looks ok (but no facial expressions). if I export from iClone directly to Unity3D this problem disappears, but there are others (like animation is not transferable)

Hello. I have problems with exporting my character and it's animations in 3dxchande. 
Here is my project, for example. 
 
I placed here only two basic motions from iclone: run and walk. Now i want to export them to fbx for use in Unreal Engine.

Let's open one of this files in blender to check it from inside.

and... it's looks like mess. Some Empty type crosses and only two keyframes of ... i don't know what is it and why it's work like that. I purchased Iclone with 3dxchange(pipeline) in November. I want it to work, but it's not working.
I had this issue a long time ago in december and in november to but i had hope that you will fix it. But nothing happen. No updates, no fixes, and my work not gouing well because of this.

3DXchnage does not import the face bones properly. you can not move anything in the face. The same figure Gnenesis 2 in CC3 it ok. CC3 imports the facial bones correctly. I cant import a Genesis Charcter with 3DXchnage properly

Update your graphics card drivers.
Try running 3DX maximized, following these instructions

Try adjusting your Windows display scaling. 100% works best for 3DX, but you can probably be a bit bigger. 200%, or more, seems to cause issue as your experiencing.

Thanks Rampa. Tried your suggestion. Problem remains. Also tried previous version of 3DXchange-problem remains. Also tried previous NVidia drivers without success.  All other RL programs ok. I just submitted a support request so I will see what happens.

I just found the culprit. I just uninstalled a recent program installation and 3dxchange now functions correctly. The program's name is Duet. This software provides an interface between ipad and PC and is used primarily for drawing. There was obviously a conflict with graphics.

Anyway problem solved.

Hey RL Team,

I'm having a massive problem exporting a custom made MotionPlus (made in IC 7.41.2525), on a character made in CC Pipeline 3.03.



The clip is only made from a few motion puppet clips, and then custom keyframed anims, custom VO and Viseme. There is no trial or DRM iClone only anims or assets in it.

I've tried to export this character, with it's anim, from 3DXchange 7 Pipeline, it flags the animation in red text in the Perform Editor, and when I try to export an FBX, it says I need to purchase an export License, but lists nothing. Sometimes it even insists that I need to buy the Export License for my custom character.



Trying another route : Exporting from Iclone says my custom character is not yet available on the asset store, which of course it isn't.

Even adding the .iMotionPlus files as an anim in Character Creator 3 Pipeline doesn't work.

I'm part of the development team on a game, and suddenly can't export custom anims out of iclone, something I've happily been doing for years?

Can Anybody give me a clue how to fix this?

Hi Dan

Sorry to hear you are having problems exporting.

As the error message indicates, there appears to be DRM protected content somewhere in your project.

You mention that your MotionPlus is made up of Motion Puppet clips only. Have you possibly customised Motion Puppet to add additional animation clips? If so one of these may be DRM protected.

Also to eliminate the character as being the problem, are you able to export the CC character on its own from 3DXchange/Character Creator without any problems or does this still show an error?

3DXchange 7 Pipeline still keep crashing with NVIDIAcard GeForce GTX 1050Ti.
Windows 8.1,64bit, 20GB RAM, Intel Core i7- 4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

NVIDIAcard driver is Disabled = 3DXchange P works.
NVIDIA card driver is Enabled =3DXchange P Doesn't work.

I was able to track down my issue to a single hand gesture, from an old Marketplace purchase (from 2014) that no longer exists. It was 22 animated hand gestures I believe, and it is no longer on the store, and doesn't seem to show up on the DRM checks. I rebuilt the animation, and eliminated that pack from my content files, and was able to get it out.

I am having a fun new problem trying to import a FBX. 
It is a boned and skinned character, with textures. 50k triangles, and a single UV.

I have made sure to set the Realitime Texture size to 4096, since that is the size of the largest accompanying, but not embedded texture. Everytime I try and import the FBX, it either hangs on "Converting real-time texture size..." for about a minute, and crash closes 3DX7 with no error or message, or I receive this message.
 
I have opened the FBX in Maya, and re-exported it in both FBX version 2014/15 and 2016, but recieve the same crash or error.  Could it be that it is looking for embedded textures that are not present, and fatally crashing?

Ongoing long term issue in 3DExchange 7.4.2515.1 (any of the 7.4 versions this has been the case)
Windows 10 (latest updates and nVidia Drivers)...iClone 7.41.2551.1 has been very stable and has not had any issues so far (we use it for animations only). Very reluctant to update...likely will not.

Note: 7.4 also fixed the bone transform issues with DAZ Genesis Models (also others too) so we are kind of stuck with it. Also don't see the previous version available using Reallusion Hub and Download Button from account.

There is a similar button in iClone7 that does similar things even though it is not 'exactly' the same. So continuing into iClone7.4 from 3DExchange7.4 make adjustments and animation naming then send back to 3DExchange.
So this has not been a show stopper but just an irritation. :)

UPDATE:

The development team have found the cause of this issue and plan to fix via an update. Unfortunately, I don't have a release date for the update but it is in the works.

When I import any DAZ gen3 or 8 character into 3DXchange7 it will load fine and display. When I try to export or click "Apply to iClone" the program is busy for a while and then crashes. There is no error message, it just disappears.
GPU is RTX2080 with latest driver 26.21.14.3086
DAZ 4.11.0.383 Pro 64-bit
3DXchange 7.4.2515.1

I tried unmorphed default figures, with and without animations and using various FBX versions. I have tried to follow the online manual to the letter, but 3DXchange crashes each time.
I posted this in another forum (by mistake. Sorry) Now here in the issues thread.

Here are some blocker Bugs with 3DXchange 7.61 I reported to the Support line. These really need to be fixed.

1) I export the CC3.21 CC3_OneUV_4K_Female as FBX. Then I Import it back using 3dxXhange 7.61. In 3dXchange, I save the 3dxFaceAnimProfile. Then when I try to import back the 3dxFaceAnimProfile into 3dXchange, the import fails. All facial morphs are there and work successfully in 3dXchange but I am unable to reload the file.

2) Furthermore, currently, I need to re-assign the facial profile every-time I go through 3DXchange 7.61 pipeline which is very time consuming and counter productive.

I hope the previously stated BUG will be fixed and also that the functionality will be improved to support the following very important Usecase:   

a) Export OneUV_4K Base Character from CC in FBX Format   
b) Import in 3dXchange   
c) Save Facial profile   
d) Import same FBX in 3DS Max   
e) Edit Mesh only in Max (change mesh topology and re-skin but also update all Facial Morphs so that they work on new mesh but keep the same name for each facial morphs)   
f) Export back into FBX   
g) Import in 3dXchange   
h) Apply saved Facial profile from previous Mesh (new mesh has different topology but has all the same updated facial Morphs for face).

Currently, I have to redefine them all which is a pain, and even that does not work !!! -> 3dxchange 7.61 reject the import even if all facial morphs are present. This is a pain point when I do re-purposing forcing me to always redefine the facial morphs in numerous scenarios.

Mixamo 2020 skeleton and animations into 3DXchange Pipeline 7.61.3619.1
The skeleton has several problems with rotated bones, it looks like Mixamo uses FBX 2019 that may be the cause of this but i can't find how to fix kneepoles, nor the twisted lower arms or hips. Some older Mixamo skeletons and animations import OK but it's a mess to try and match those with some skeletons as it gives an error if they don't match on import.. i assume it's the FBX that does this as all skeletons look the same

I have looked through many posts but hasn't found anything to solve it

Exporting a character out from mixamo in T-pose, FBX for UNity or FBX std gives this lovely stretch on import.. 3DXChange shows no errors whatsoever and it tells me it has converted all bones.. still




Selecting the T-pose that was imported with the model.. Arms fly out correctly but knees looks fliped 90 degrees both sides or that the kneepole is flipped



Have tried to convert the bones but all bones are filled correctly as 3DXchange didn't find any issues so.. i'm stuck

So I'm starting with 3DXchange. I have a character from mixamo, I've followed the instructions on how to download it in a tpose (which I've done with other characters) this one gets all jacked up, arms and legs wonky when I import it into 3DXchange. Can someone help? It won't let me edit the bone structure win I convert to non-standard.

On my laptop, 3DX7 Pipeline seems to have a problem with the new Genesis 8.1 Female as it will not import the FBX at all, it was just crashing without creating a crash dump.  I haven't tried this on the desktop computer.

All drivers up to date, just installed the newest NVIDIA driver this morning.

So I uninstalled 3DX using the HUB, restarted the computer with chkdsk enabled, reinstalled it using the HUB and tried to import the fbx again and it still crashed.  I tried two more times and got the same result.  I have no idea if this a DAZ FBX export issue or not, most likely is.

So to be sure it was the Genesis 8.1 Female that was causing the crash I successfully imported Genesis 3 Females, OBJ files, and other fbx files without a problem, but now it won't import any Genesis 8 characters at all, it just crashes.  However it did create crash dumps this time!

I submitted a support ticket but was wondering if anyone else is having issues importing the new Genesis 8.1 characters into 3DXchange Pipeline.

There were reports of incompatibility of Genesis 8.1 with CC Transformer, so apparently something has changed. Genesis 8 should work though. 

I also notice from your screenshot that there are more than 580K faces, so that may just be too much for 3DXchange. How large is the FBX file?

I can't help feeling that DAZ are trying to make importing their characters in to RL products as difficult, if not impossible, as they can. :ermm::Whistling:

There seem to be problems using the EXPORT TO OBJ function with a lot of content. So far I have noticed three kinds of issues which affect a large portion of content (at least from the spot check of content that I tried to export):

1. Parts of the exported content has missing meshes



2. The exported textures/materials are wrong



3. The exported files is a corrupt file

As you can see in the videos, the content does have correctly set UVs because the material/texture is correct when the content is pushed to 3DXChange from iClone which is what can be seen at the beginning of the video. However, as you indicated, when the content is exported then it looks like it is mixing up the material and/or UVs (Video #2) as well as sometimes dropping parts of the mesh itself (Video #1 but also seen a bit in Video #2).

For that I need to see the UV maps. General,  Only properly created UV maps are without trouble if you want share Objects
The most sketchup models are troublemaker, because only Material IDs with assign Texture but not right UV mapped 
Maybe you can upload your file for analyzed ?

I have an issue with targeting the bones for the Non Standard character in 3DEchange, the window is hiding the part of the left hand and I am not able to move it or resize the screen, may be somebody can help

You appear to be using an unusual screen resolution and that may be causing the sizing problem.

Have you tried clicking the "Restore Down" icon and then adjusting the size by dragging the outer window edges to increase the size?
