A couple of questions...mesh related.

Hey Guys and Gals!

I have 2 questions regarding Character Creator and one off topic but about the forum.
  • 1) I am having a problem with a mesh (the skin) on a character that I am using the Camisole_D on. That top has a see through part at the top and in the middle.
No matter what I do, I cannot get the mesh to show up on the top part, the middle part I can get that to work after a bit, but not that top part.

Am I missing something somewhere?

Here are two screens in case you don't know, or me being me didn't explain it well, what I am talking about.

  • 2) When I export my character to UE 4 everything looks GREAT, except the shadow. The hair and some body parts are missing in the shadow.

It is like that in both First and Third person view.

  • 3) A non CC related question....does the search function not work here on the forum...I have never had it work.
I just go to the part of the forum I think what I am looking for may be in and do a manual search, which is VERY time consuming.

Thanks in advanced!

First things first - the search works, although sometimes (like almost everything on this forum) you need to be patient and sometimes even hit it more than once.  Hitting the advanced search is even better, because as a rule it's very slow on broader ones.

The first question is most likely the mesh has gotten hidden by default, but you can hide/unhide it by going to the Mesh Modifier tab, choosing Edit Mesh Mode, and then selecting what you want and either Show or Hide it.

I have no idea about UE.

Hey Kelleytoons!
Wow thanks for that quick reply!
I'll give that search trick a little more time next time...guess I am used to click an look....the optimum word is patience! ;)

As for the mesh problem...yes I have tried that but a no go with that... :(
I can get the middle part to show up, as you can see in the 2nd screen shot, but not the cleavage area.
I'll do that search here (with patience ... ;) ) and hopefully find it there...I even did a Google and YouTube search but still nothing.

Thanks for the help.

If you don't get this working and no one else helps I'll look at it tomorrow (cold meds are now putting me to sleep)
By FAITH BASED GAMES - 8 Years Ago
Ok that would be GREAT!

Thanks Kelleytoons! ;)

Also I have been very patient and the search still hasn't worked and I have even hit the search probably 25 times...nothing :(

1. Try to set Shadow to "Receive Only" for the Camisole
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/5233bba2-99c1-4261-b362-bb2d.jpg

2. Cannot be sure, but it looks as if you still have a hidden mesh there for that particular character. Do what KT says, or go to Windows > Cloth Layer Settings > Reset Content Settings

3. The way I see it, "search" does not work properly here at the forum. It works while searching for a single keyword, or multiple keywords with "OR" operator (Any Keywords).
But the most important search for "All Keywords" simply does not work. I already reported it, but nothing has been done.

The "all keywords" search works fine for me -- just did it now (perhaps it's browser related -- I use Chrome).

I tried all sorts of browsers. Same result...
OK. Lets experiment. Your quoted post contains 2 keywords "browser" and "Chrome". I should be able to locate it by entering those keywords and do an Advanced Search with All Keywords. Right?

Here is a screenshot of the query result:

Do you have it different?
By Kelleytoons - 8 Years Ago
Hmmm, it's odd because it does seem to work in the titles, just not in the message body (which is why I probably thought it was working in both places).

And I could have sworn it worked before -- but perhaps I was either fooled by the titles again.  Did you ever get a response from RL?
By 4u2ges - 8 Years Ago
Well, it does not work for the title either. It does work as "Any Keywords", that is how the basic search at the top is set to work.
But you understand, the search with "OR" would bring a whole bunch of unrelated to the specified "keywords" posts.
Specially if one of the keywords is very "general". It is impossible to find related information that way.

I did not actually apply to RL with this directly. Just posted this about 3 month ago:

I guess it was missed or neglected. Or worse yet, "All keywords" was intentionally turned off as it normally is more resource intense search type than any other.

Update: I forgot. There is workaround with google site search.
Use: site:forum.reallusion.com your keywords
But it only as good as the site is optimized for SE crawl.

This one for instance, with misspelled keyword would find a post by Kungphu (nothing personal :)):

Hey 4u2ges!

1) YAY that worked...THANKS so much! :D

And to both Kelleytoons and 4u2ges

2) I'll check that the next time I export to UE 4. ;)

3) It doesn't seem to matter what I search for regardless of settings nothing happens...I mean NOTHING...it just stays on the search, no busy icons or anything like that. :(

Again thank you both so much for the help...GREAT JOB!

Hmmm, I got it to work for title only, for example using FBX and Daz.  But perhaps it's not consistent.

In general nowadays I only search with username (mine) because I read all the threads and comment if something is interesting.  So it's easy to refind a thread I've seen and commented on.  But I really did think it used to work (but who knows how long ago that was).
By FAITH BASED GAMES - 8 Years Ago
Hahahaha...Kelleytoons, I just tried my user name and yours and it worked:D
...at least now I can see what the forum looks like when it does do a search...
THANKS!

GREAT that works REALLY good!
I just typed in mesh, with a search in the last 24 hours and this thread came up! ;)

 THANKS!! :)

Glad that helped! :)

I'm also pretty sure that search with ALL Keywords used to work at one time...
By 4u2ges - 8 Years Ago
It is quite possible. I am not sure it was this forum or not, but at some point while back I think the search was restricted to certain number of queries for unregistered users.
Maybe the restriction was lifted off along with "All keywords" search as it creates quite a load on web server. But I might be mistaken.
