IK FK & Curve Editor

iClone Motion Editing uses the HIK (Human Inverse Kinematics) system, particularly the IK mode on body parts to make it easier to animate.
iClone 7.1 Curve Editor provides even more meticulous animation tool in the form of FK mode for bone based XYZ axis manipulation.
Now every bone can be precisely controlled.

What is FK Mode

iClone is an immediate retargeting system and, for the sake of every standard character supporting Motion Data, every Motion Bone will perform retargeting.
The diagram below illustrates the Motion Bones.

  • In the diagram, the NeckWaistL_ClavicleR_Clavicle and Pelvis bones under the HIK mode can not be individually manipulated.
  • Once in FK mode, the bones can be individually selected and controlled.

Sync Bone Selection

Under the FK Mode, besides selecting the bone in the Curve Editor Outliner, one can directly select the bone or dummy from the viewport.
When selected through the viewport, the Curve Editor Outliner will automatically scroll to the selected components.

Mirroring

Mirror mode can be used to symmetrically animate both sides of the body at the same time.
