Terry Miller (6/17/2024) It's not a noob question at all. I, too, have the same problem, and I've been using iClone for nine years now. I have a hard time seeing the value of "in-place" mobility mo-cap. Yes, there are work-arounds, but they still create an immense amount of work to get the mo-cap functioning the way it should.
The main purpose of motions that take place on the spot is for use with "Paths" such as in crowd scenes where your character may need to walk between buildings, around objects and so on. If you need your character to follow a specific route through your scene, motions with a predetermined walking path would not be suitable.. Motions that take place on the spot are also used in our Puppeteering feature.

While you will still have to fiddle with it to get the distance correct, one thing that will help to reduce the foot sliding somewhat is to make sure the transition curves of the transform keyframes are set to "linear" instead of "default."
Good luck! Terry

Hi, sorry noob question here but I've search high and low for a tutorial to show me how to convert all the Iclone in place animations to animations that actually move across the screen. I'm not working with games so the in place animations are useless to me, there must be an easy way to convert them without having to change the character translation a million times until you find the exact distance travelled and have no foot slide. Seems like such a simple thing but I can't find an answer anywhere. Can someone please help me?
