Hey all :) Losing my mind here - anyone know how to import mocap files (FBX) now that 3D Exchange isn't a thing? I keep getting an error saying 'no compatible characters' when I try to import or convert an animation. Anyone know of documentation for this? I've just upgraded with the hope v8 fixes some old issues and so far I'm going backwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What kind of mocap data do you want to import? If you already have 3dxprofile created from 3dx7, you can use it for importing motion to iClone 8.

Hey Luke, Correct, I had already made a profile using 3D Exchange. How do I get this into iClone 8? Is there some documentation somewhere I can follow? Also, any chance you might know why when I upgrade an iClone 7 project that has multiple motion clips on a character, it all gets combined as a single clip? Basically collapsed everything to keyframes.

I was getting this error importing Mixamo FBX animations into iClone 8. It turns out that you need to change the Motion Profile to Mixamo_DefaultCharacter and then it worked flawlessly for me.

Put your 3dx profile under this folder C:\Program Files\Reallusion\iClone 8\Program\Assets\Share\CharaterizeProfiles when you drag the box onto the actor, it will list all suitable profiles at once iClone 8 doesn't support the projects from 7, it will keep the same result but without maintain layer keys

Basically collapsed everything to keyframes.hI, I am having the same error, how did you create a profile in 3dx.... i purchase a rokoko motion fbx motion but its not working properly in iclone8.. just deforming the character bones like a wrong retargeting

In 3DX you go to the "Non-Standard Human" rollout and assign all the bones, then save this profile somewhere you can find it. In the folder where iClone is stored (Program Files/Reallusion/iClone8/Assets/Share/CharaterizeProfiles) you put this file (it will end with .3DXProfile) and when you then inport the FBX into iClone you can choose the particular profile from a dropdown menu.
