Hey Kelley,

To get the G8.1 textures, you may want to check the method found in the DAZ forums:
HowTo: Create missing Genesis 8 skin parts on Torso surface from Genesis 8.1 Body and Head surfaces - Daz 3D Forums

That said, convert and save G8.1 textures to G8 (only four textures) with Map Transfer, and then follow the method in the video (morphs only).

I hope that clarifies.

Best regards,
Luciano

Let me say I'm skeptical this will work (there are quite a few people who have SAID they solved the 8.1 to CC4 problem, but none of the approaches I've tried have worked and this includes feedback from the RL Devs).

If you have a complete video showing the step by step process of getting, say, the 8.1 HD turtle into CC4 (or some other distinctly texturized figure - not just a regular "human") I'd love to see it.  In the meantime I remain unconvinced.

You're right. I went through tis last week.

Expand all on  the Daz character and look for the hidden body parts and turn them on. Re-export. Simple fix

Don't worry, Mike, if you need assistance, you can IM me. I'll try to record a full video combining morphs and textures early tonight. See below the end result for a custom alien. Before that, just to clarify, are we talking about CC3 or CC4? These methods were tested on CC3 only, and, unfortunately, I don't have any 'creature 8.1'. Keep in mind both methods will work for any figure based on default 8.1 UV (Base 8.1 Male, Base 8.1 Female). Custom UVs may not work in any generation, such as animals and humanoid figures with customized UV layouts won't work, generally speaking. DAZ's product information page show what is the figure's UV. For instance, Reptilian 6 HD for Genesis 2 Male(s) cannot be imported into CC3 because it has a custom 'Reptilian 6 UV' layout, even though is made on top of G2. The same rule applies for any generation.

I followed the 2 methods and tested with the assets below:
- Wolfgang 8.1 (Based on 'Base 8.1 Male' UV)
- Alternate Textures for Oso Newt and Genesis 8.1 Males
- Random body morphs for 8.1 and 8 Males

End result:

The 'custom creature' works as well, which means 8.1 morphs AND 8.1 textures can be exported into CC3. The legs are just posed to look animal-like, so a body pose can be adjusted in Pose Editor. This effect is equivalent to high heels.

Best regards
Luciano

I think it would be CC3 as CC4 is not out yet.

Hey, Mike,

Below is the video with both methods (8.1 morphs and 8.1 textures). It works very well for me, perhaps other DAZ-CC3 users may benefit from it. I wouldn't bother RL team at this moment: they must focus on making a great launch. Good luck for them, BTW.

Regarding Turtle HD 8.1, based on the product information page, it should work for morphs, however it is not clear if this figure uses Base 8.1 Male UV or a custom one. If you own it, I can help you with that.
I tested with Rex HD 8.1 and Wolfgang 8.1 morphed into Xenoman 8 (All G8 morphs are compatible with G81) using textures from 'Alternate Textures for Oso Newt and Genesis 8.1 Males'.

Based on the examples you are showing I still don't think it's working correctly - it's not mapping the UV textures correctly (not surprising - that's the whole problem).

I'll give it a shot with one I know doesn't work but as of now I'm more convinced than ever this is just the same approach another user tried before me and the devs showed it didn't work.  I don't think you can correctly remap those UVs.

That's right.
Not all textures are being loaded (normal, roughness, glow, for instance). However, that's a known issue on CC3's end.
I refer to the official solution: Character Creator 3 Tutorial - Using INI Files to Fix Daz Texture Load Issues - YouTube and Character Creator 3 Online Manual - Using INI for Loading All Body Textures (reallusion.com)

Let me know if you succeed on your test.
Best regards,
Luciano

Okay, this DEFINITELY doesn't work for all 8.1 Genesis figures - actually, it won't work for *most* (at least the trend for the newer figures).  Those are (usually, but not always) marked as HD (meaning high definition) but they add geometry to a Gen 8 standard base and thus can't be converted (you cannot, for example, add their morphs to a "normal" Genesis 8 figure - you can't even rename their base node so CC3 won't see them properly).

So this method is of very little use to most folks - as I said in another thread, we really don't need any more Genesis figures, but the ones we *could* use are the newer "creature" types and these are nearly always HD figures.  That additional geometry will not be supported by CC3 (it may be supported by CC4 but it won't be through transformer and thus the resulting avatars won't be compatible with clothing and/or hair).
