Da-Drifter (8/7/2021) My old system was the problem. With my new system I get 60 fps and fluid live animation. My new RTX A4000 is working better than I could hope for. Was getting 32 FPS with old system. Thanks for all the input! Super cool! Let us know how that card works overall for you. The 16 Gig of VRAM and low power consumption of that card are intriguing. :)

It is not so much the speed of the connection, but apparently the Ethernet interface works better for the iPhone in this particular application. What we advise here is based on our experience. So, if Ethernet turns out to work better, then that's what we choose. It's not really relevant at that point that USB 3.0 is theoretically faster. Some have had good results with a wireless connection, I haven't and neither have others. The preview FPS is always shown in red, even at 60 FPS, it doesn't indicate an alert situation of some sort. The recording speed of Live Face is independent of that.

Does anyone know if there is a big differance between ethernet vs USB or is it just a minor improvement? I would argue that gigabit ethernet and USB 3.0 are going to make a significant difference over using a USB 2.0 port. But you're probably not going to notice a lot of difference between USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. In terms of data transfer speed: USB 2.0 is faster than Ethernet USB 2.0 is slower than Gigabit Ethernet USB 3.0 is faster than Gigabit Ethernet Gigabit Ethernet is going to be twice as fast as USB 2.0. But USB 3.0 is 10 times as fast as USB 2.0. And I think USB 3.1 is supposed to be twice as fast as 3.0. Using USB will have some overhead cost on your CPU. So check the specs of your new computer and then you'll be able to determine what the best route is for you. And don't forget to turn on the smooth setting in Motion LIVE. https://manual.reallusion.com/Motion_LIVE_Plugin/ENU/Content/iClone_7/Pro_7.0/29_Plug_in/Motion_Live/Smoothing-Expression-Clips.htmAnd I agree, you may have some issues with that GPU.

Da-Drifter (8/5/2021) I guess I'll just have to wait a few more days for my new PC to narrow down the problem. You noticed what Mike and Peter said about that card? You probably will have trouble with that RTX A4000 card.

In iClone I am getting in (red) 32 fps during preview mode using Live Face. How many fps to be in the green? I'm thinking 60 fps. Either my PC is to slow or the transfer over USB is causing the lag. I guess I'll just have to wait a few more days for my new PC to narrow down the problem. Also, I have heard before that an ethernet connection is faster than USB. Does anyone know if there is a big differance between ethernet vs USB or is it just a minor improvement? Found this on the internet: The maximum speed that you can get on a standard ethernet connection or wire is 100 Mbps. This is almost 48 times slower than a 3.0 USB port. You might wonder why someone would end up choosing this over a traditional USB port then. ... Is this true?

The experience has been, I believe, that a wired Ethernet connection works better than a USB connection for the iPhone.

Da-Drifter (8/5/2021) Current graphics card: Nvidia Titan xp Collectors edition. A gamming card. New graphics card: Nvidia RTX A4000 16 GB Ram. A pro card for 3d and video creation. I am very happy to hear that "The graphics card is really the most important component for iClone and Character Creator" I spent over 1k on just my graphics card. I didn't know if iClone and Charactor Creator mostly used the Cpu or graphics card. Thanks for the info! Thanks for sharing the specifications. As iClone works in realtime (much like modern 3D games) we generally recommend gaming graphics cards rather than Workstation cards. RTX graphics cards like the RTX 2070, 2080, 3070, 3080, 3090 etc. will give great performance. That's not to say you won't get good results from a Quadro graphics card but as you can see we don't include them in our supported graphics card list HERE.

That RTX card is a stinker -- really, really horrible. I would NOT get it for iClone (you're better off with a used GTX).
