I always get scared even thinking about the (almighty) sun, but for the purposes of this video I am making I am trying to stay brave.

The prop looks 'ok' as I spin it around a little, but very far from good. I think I may be ready for Effects 101, but not sure what would make this look better (any ideas anyone).

The purpose of the video I am making is just to ask why in places where it gets hot, why do not take advantage of what our ancestors did before we had indoor air conditioning. If there were some shady trees nearby, that was an ideal place to build a house.
Anyone who has ever worked or just visited an addict during the summer knows it can be like a sauna.

I was planning on asking someone in Reddit / Smarter Than Me or whatever how much something like this might cost:
4 poles, 200 square yards of Trampoline Material or some fabric, and some wires connecting it all.
Then crews would have to put it up and take it down depending on where you live, or never in South Florida or Vegas.

Anything that pisses off Home Owner's Associations I am all for and my end goal is to see how much an electric bill might save, and could this be a viable business and save that poor polar bear those tree huggers keep placing on that small ice berg to take a picture.

Thanks, I forgot to add the 'Not To Scale' label before I posted.

A video such as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FOG95o4bbU  in the diffuse channel would have done the job.
(depending on the angle of view and how much of the sun you want to show)

Will it matter that the video has a background other than the sun?

That is the effect I was going for.

It actually does. The problem is, that you have to match the UV of the visible part of the mesh of the sun prop to the video. Here is a quick job in Blender:

Cannot show the resulted video from iClone because ripped video for the diffuse channel is in MP4 format, which does not render with iClone. It needs to be converted into WMV first.
But here is screenshot (resolution of the video is not that great though)

I actually just used my screen recorder and only recorded a close up rectangle.

My sun is now very red (too realistic) so I tried to lighten it and got it too bright.
I will try again in the morning.

I talked myself into Popcorn FX tonight to see what I can learn.

Thanks for suggesting a video, I am sure it is better than anything I can create.

I think yours looks better upon further review. I am going to see if I can follow your instructions.

Thanks,

I also tried PopcornFX, but not satisfactory. Finally had a chance to convert MP4 to AVI for the diffuse channel
Not really that great, but rather OK.

It looks better than my attempt. The occasional white flashes give it extra realism.

Thanks

Do you have K-Lite Codec Pack installed?
With these codecs I have no problem rendering mp4 with iClone...

Yes, I do. But it might be outdated. I need to push the latest pack and see if it does help. But thanks for reminding :)

UPDATE: Yes, It did the trick. Updated from v8 to v14 and all MP4s in texture channels are rendering alright!
