IllusionLab that's a great example of how useful they are. The movement of facial muscles is considerably less noticeable without the mapping.
Delerna. The quality of what you did quick isn't an issue. It shows how effective it can be on an Iclone character, nice work.
Data Juggler, now imagine we had that for nose, eyes, mouth, and cheeks as well as forehead, all dialing in dynamically as the characters move their faces.
My film is 70 mins but I'll only have head wrinkles for the last 5 minutes since it's a scene most important for of emotion, and even then I'll be rendering the scene twice (with and without the wrinkles) and blending between the videos in an editor.
Having an actual working wrinkle map system in Iclone could kick facial animation up 4 notches.
Faceware is a $1000+ plugin. We have the option to spend a lot of money to capture emotion but we can't get the most out our characters without this already common technique.
Edit. If I use the PBR mixer I can get more than one normal map on a surface at once. Far from an ideal solution but at least I can setup some kind of poor man's version that I manually dial up and down and won't need multiple renders or video editing.
