Those are great Daz clothes, Rampart, but I wouldn't have a clue as to how to bring them in through 3DXChange (I've watched the tutorials and by the time we get to creating the weight maps my eyes glaze over -- maybe it's just not my thing).  If I have to skin them though Blender I'd give up (I don't have that much time left in my life).

If you could do your own tutorial on just converting ONE I think there would be many who'd appreciate it (or point me to a good one -- the ones from RL seem to go "Now just do this... and YOU'RE DONE" skipping over steps and making it sound SO much easier than I find it to be).

I'm interesting in clothing that people will be wearing many centuries in the future. I don't know what it would look like...Unsure

Unfortunately, that's NOT what I meant.  I don't want to use Daz Characters, I want to use Daz clothing.  AFAIK, there is NO easy way to do this (import Daz clothing and use in Character Creator).  All I've ever seen is VERY complicated weighting, skinning stuff that just puts me to sleep.

But thanks anyway.

Hmmmm... I'm not sure either, but according to George Lucas there won't be any underwear. "There's no underwear in space!" Smile

Hmmmm.... You want to use CC characters.  It isn't worth all the effort to create CC characters and then attempt to create the quality of clothing as DAZ3d. by using other complex applications.    I decimate and export characters with clothing from Daz3d.  Saves me a lot of time as well.
I tried what you are thinking when CC first released.  I learned very quickly that was not a best way to save time or improve on anything.
If we could seamlessly use CC or clothing creation (as I thought it would do) it would an altogether different story.
I use both CC and Daz3d characters... abit confusing, but works OK for me.
I use the RL duf files when I export daz3d characters in Iclone.  The daz3d characters animate very well, when I do a proper conversion in 3dxhange.
Also, I can do material updates inside Iclone, PBR etc. for imported Daz3d content items.
As I see it.  I use what I can as best I can...and try not to get bogged down in all the detail and cumbersome edititing processes using several other complex applications,

I have 3dcoat and rarely use it.  Great for some quick edits.  I don't intend to buy a 3dsmax, maya, or other expensive and complex applications.
Like yourself ... I don't have the time for it.  So I use what I can as best I can to get the job done.

I have been very loyal IClone user for several years.  I have bought pipeline vesions of everything RL released up to now.   I only bought the Pro vesion of 3dxchange with IC7 this go round.  I haven't noticed one thing about 3dxchange 7 pro different from the 6 version up to now.  Guess it's because I pretty well do the same things all the time, and consistently use the same tools.

My take on video production is not about doing a bunch of tricked out things.  It is to get it done. Even if it isn't IClone pure. LOL

I understand you, and agree with most, except I'm sticking within the iClone ecosystem.  I don't see anything (other than clothing :>Wink I like in Daz better than what I can in CC, and I can easily alter/change/mod things there that I don't see possible in Daz.  As you suggest, we don't have the time to worry about learning too many things.

So I'll just stick with RL and hope they release clothing that works (so far I'm not nearly as unhappy with my clothing choices as I am with hair styles.  If I could get some more hair -- particularly men -- I'd be thrilled).

I understand where you are coming from.   I have a very large library of Daz3d stuff.  Among the stuff are alot of tools for working with Daz3d characters. I have learned if I want to keep things working well and not  create work for myself to pretty well ignore all the morphs and character edit tools and stick with the basic Daz3d characters for export to iclone.  I definitely have had problems doing exports to IClone.

My first response to this thread should mean something to you.  The soon to be released content pack "subject of this thread" is what I said.   We need better quality of basic content, not hastily created MD stuff that is dated and requires alot of work to use it.  RL is proud of their content so I visualize a $100 price tag on that pack.   I meant what I said in my first response... users should be consulted as RL develops or plans content packs.  This way RL and users will get what they need.   When users say nothing and RL asks users nothing...we get what RL is guessing we can use and will buy.  The party pack is a good example... early on we needed a  professional pack, instead we got a party pack.  I retunded that thing.  Yes... I needed some hair and a couple things, but not $100 for what I needed.

I encourage IClone users to speak up.  We don't have to complain...just let RL know our interests and needs (hopefully RL will pay attention)

I believe the feedback tracker to be a good idea fundamentally, but to be honest I suspect most users are too interested in their own work and expect RL to do their own homework or research.  So there is nowhere near adequate feedback from users to really make it a viable tool  Thread postings are probably the best for feedback, but threads are not always easy to follow and take alot of time to read through all the responses.  RL could have titled sub-forums that would be more effective especially since the forum would specifically identify feedback discussion points RL needs for evaluation of Input from users.

Example- If this thread were titled.  RL plans new pack for CC Street clothing-suggestions please
That is all it would take, and users could join the discussion.
As it is we are told what we are going to get, and what it will include.
The mind readers at RL have missed it with this pack...as to my needs.

I think many Iclone users might have been pleased to share and help out with suggestions when the pack was being planned.
Why speak up when the pack is already underway and what it will include are published?

Yes, you are correct completely.  RL *seems* to listen sometimes -- as you said, we really needed that professional pack and (eventually) we got it.  That suggests to me they heard the many complaints/wants/desires and finally gave it to us.  It's my most used clothing (and was very odd not to have something like that for so long).  This pack... just seems odd.  Nothing about it is anything I've heard anyone needing, and the choices themselves are just plain odd (is this *really* "street" clothing?  I get the hoodies -- yeah, a lot of blacks and young people wear those -- but who is actually making animations with those characters in mind?  I'm not saying no one -- but clearly the majority of things I've seen in iClone are either fantasy or sci-fi, and RL seems unwilling to do the sci-fi stuff and I guess they think we have all the fantasy stuff we need.  The rest of it doesn't look like anything I've ever seen anyone wear on the street, except for the homeless).

The only thing I can think of is who they partnered with -- it doesn't appear (now, at least) they have in-house designers and I can understand that.  So they partner with people (like the guy with the military pack/humvee and this gal with the MD clothes) to distribute what they have already produced.  That HAS to be the explanation here, these look like clothing items that were picked mostly at random and so I'm guessing this is just what this gal had -- "Oh, we'll put it all in one pack and call it street clothes.  Yeah, that's the ticket!"

I sure hope the upcoming hair pack is a lot more focused -- we so need more male hair (and "regular" hair -- not more punk or extreme hair) as well as some nice female styles (again, nothing "extreme").  If they partner with the right person it could be great -- otherwise, be prepared for a "street hair" pack that has the homeless look we all want so much (not, of course).
