Now that things are beginning to settle down again I am behind schedule.
I am about a third way through the screenplay and I am not real sure I am doing it right this time. I have only done one other.
Things are in place.
I will send out the screenplays when they are ready and then I need to make sure I have the scenes and props I will need to make things while I am waiting for the voices to come back.
When the voices are back I can then put the pieces together and add some background music which I must download.
Then the final touch-up will take a bit of time and it will be ready.
Hope I didn't forget anything.

There are so many things good about this video as well as thing that can be improved.  But lets focus on the good.

You are up and running, using new software and animating in iClone.  You have pulled all the assets together into your NLE of choice and rendered out.

The screenplay has been finished today and was just sent out to the voices.
While I am doing that I will be finding ways to do some of the things that need to be done and making iprops for use in the scenes.
This should be an interesting trip through the program with lights and scene construction.
Hope I can remember everything I am doing.

Sounds like you're on your way. Just remember to take it scene-by-scene. Multiple projects per film and even per scene are the order of the day many times ya know. You don't have to cram "everything" into one project in case you were wondering ;)

Hi Ken,

good to see your movie is going on.
Just a couple of minor details, easy to fix:

1. at time 1.21, the woman in the middle is "flying": juts use some key-framing to bring her back to earth :)
2. at time 1.26, the camera re-position itself a bit abruptly. Maybe you can try to experiment with multiple cameras, create different renders of the scene, and then decide in the NLE (video editing program), how to cross-fade or change between various cameras

Then, as already mentioned, the background music is a bit too loud compared to the speech.
Anyway, great voice timbre: can I borrow you if one day I need some narration in some future videos ? ;)

The shows what 74 year old ears that are bad will do for you. I worry about the volume in my videos these days. I can see the video part but hearing the audio is another matter.
I have not found a way to vary the volume of the audio track by sections in Magix yet.
It seems I have to vary the whole track at once and not just when someone speaks.
I am going to redo the beginning scenes anyway when I get back to that part.
I have to figure out the audio parts now and then on to that.
I had noticed those video things already. That was one of the reasons for the redo.

Magix Video SW comes withe several solutions:

- right click the audio track opens a menue; there you find ( I hope my translation is correct):
- Normalizing per clip
- Loudness
- Loudness / volume - countours per clip
- Audio Cleaning

Also, there should be a plugin called "Audio Mastering Suite"

Hello Ken,

Keep an eye out on this little thing called the VU meter. Every program I ran into has this.



It determines the volume levels and if it's in the red- it is way too loud. Voiceover would be around -6db or so, while music is set at -12 db.

Remember to take all the feedback and suggestions in stride.

Sometimes people post their work in process (WIP) videos, looking for helpful criticism.  Other times a person posts just to share progress, not necessarily looking for suggestions.  But you'll almost always get some feedback here anyway.  (I've been on all sides of that equation.)

You'll run into the haters once in a while, but they're rare.  Mostly it's going to be people trying to be helpful.

In the end, we need to be satisfied with our creation, taking into account our experience and skill level, and the amount of time and money we're willing to dedicate to one project.

I'm excited to see you working on your first project.  You are taking on a huge challenge, learning multiple new software packages all a once.  If you are able to complete your project, THAT is a major accomplishment!  Never forget that.

Please keep posting.  I, for one, love seeing the WIP postings.  You'll always get ideas/feedback/suggestions/critiques, but they're intended to be helpful and constructive, not to make a person feel badly.

When I watch my projects, especially months later, I alternatively feel really good and cringe with embarrassment.  But I'm always glad to have done it.
