Are there any white papers or tutorials about importing iClone avatars into Second Life or using Second Life props or accessories in iClone?

Hello Mharrsch,
Thanks for contacting us about your interest in exporting iClone characters into the Second Life community. Currently this process is not yet available. Many iClone users have requested this capability and as the virtual worlds like Second Life and others continue to grow in value as educational tools and social networks Reallusion is focused on guiding our technology toward greater interoperability with virtual worlds. I'm a member of Second Life (Animize Xi) and recently spoke on Machinima at the 2007 Second Life Community Convention where iClone and CrazyTalk were presented as tools for the Second Life filmmaker's toolbox. Are you presently an iClone user? What appeals to you the most about using iClone to generate avatars for Second Life over creating them inside Second Life?

Thanks!

I have not attempted to create anything in Second Life using their tools as yet, although I read their tutorial and their basic editing process seems to be similar in concept to iClone. I am a registered Second Life user and one of our research units, the Center for Advanced Technology in Education, has a virtual campus within Second Life. The iClone avatars seem to be more "polished" than the avatars in Second Life and move more fluidly than the somewhat bouncy animation in Second Life.

I would also like to be able to use Second Life environments and assets in iClone films. There is a wealth of assets created using a number of applications and any opportunity to repurpose these assets between applications is an important feature.

Sadly there is no news in this area. Development of iClone continues, so it is possible this may come in future versions of iClone. At present though there is nothing new to report.
