I downloaded the icar body shop, and I thought I would test it out, but I cannot seem to get the character into the car. It worked fine with the jeep, but not any of the icars. The only thing I can do is open and close the doors. Am I missing something?

Thank you for your time,

ML

Try using the "Sit Here Dummy" in the seat. Make sure the character is far enough away to use the "Dummy" prop. The Jeep can also be used as a "GHOST Vehicle" inside yours on a temporary basis...to get the character to follow direction, then remove it from the scene visibly.

There are more extensive methods, whereas you can create and Collect then save the set for later use, such as opening the door, Getting in and then sitting down.

It is a fairly straight approach, but at the moment I don't have the time to spare on a write up. Perhaps later tonight I'll find the time.

The character wouldn't like being addressed like that... :D

I didn't name the feature, but it's easier to identify it by name than to explain where it is in a persons system.

Anyway, there are other methods and I just applied them in a small GIF you can see the results of by Looking Here...Either download or view in your browser.

The components, of what it took to get them in the car, was more time consuming lining the timing of the door opening and closing to the characters actions, more than anything.

Seen in the attached image...Not automatic, but doable.

The iCar shown was just completed by special order yesterday for an iClone user, and is available on the Clones2go Store.

Thank you very much Cricky. I tried out the sit here dummy. At present, the sit down billboard and arrow begin flying about after I start the animation, and the actor starts flying too. Your jpeg looks like some key framing involved. What would be the next move after establishing the attach and then clicking the aml operate sit down tab?

Thank you,

ML

You are correct in saying there is key framing. I did not use the "Sit Here Dummy** " helper at all. It was only a possible alternative. I positioned, walked and motion edited the character into position, then adjusted the timing of these to match the car door opening and closing.

You can use the helper to move the character into position and then once you have them motion edited to do what you want, COLLECT the motion and rid the scene of the Sit Here Helper and use the motion exclusively. Adjustment to the characters transform position initially after re-introduction would be all that's needed.

I'll have to confirm the Collection process in iClone4, once the tool is used and eliminated. It did work in iClone3, but take this advice with a grain of salt as things in iClone tend to change from version to version. I rarely use the helper tools, but every once in a while they make short work of things, so they can be handy.

According to the current Help File the removal of the helper can still be done after the character is positioned.
"When you are satisfied with the result, you may remove the dummy, or set its Opacity to 0 to hide it from being rendered. "

Constrain the character to the iCar by linking them after they are seated. This was done, in my case, to the driver's seat.

The character probably flew off because they were not linked to the car after being positioned.
