Hi.
I'm trying to figure out a way to import my Iclone characters into maya so i can use the motion editor in maya and then export back to iclone.
is that possible? is there a way to do it even if i have to go through another software (i.e. - iclone -> 3ds -> maya) or such?

Thanks in advance,
manjero

Hi Shahar,

As far as I am aware the G1 and G2 Character Templates are only available in 3DS Max format. I do not use Maya so can't really say if there is a way around this. The obvious problem would be the RL Bone system used in the figures which is included in the Max templates.

You could try contacting developer [at] reallusion.com for more information on Maya support.

You do not need the iclone-characters for motion editing, just any basic skeleton rigg with around 26 bones.

iclone imports BHV motion files to convert to the VNS files.

I do not know if maya exports BVH or not.

I use the motion editor in iClone studio 90% of the time, there is a good tutorial about the motion editor on youTube.

For the other editing I use Poser7 (mainly because I already have it). I use the poser native "stickman", Keyframe the animation and then export as BVH.

you can use the BVH motion converter in iClone but you will need to make a prt file  (bone ofsets) for the stikman, but that is a once off thing to do. Tutorial for this is in the CCD files.

Good luck!
