In case anyone is working on space movies, I've been experimenting with space visuals in iclone.  Test render can be viewed here

Was created as follows.

-dual layer earth prop one for earth the other for opacity of atmosphere.
-shooting star consists of blaze particle and rocket particle
- space background is space texture map applied to skydome prop with glow texture added for constellation.
-space dust via fog particle
-asteroid belt created using 2 flat 2d angled planes to simulate depth with an opacity map
-shuttle cockpit utilizing image layer.
