Hi, I'm new here and just heard of the deal for iClone 5 to spend $199.95 and get a free copy.

Sounds like a good time to take the plunge, but really have no idea what would be good content to but without ever using iClone before.

Any advice welcome. And what about DA points, how do those work and is that a safer buy until I get started and learn more?

Cheers.

Welcome to the Forum:)

You need to decide exactly what you want to use iClone for. Iclone has many different uses.

If you aspire to producing Storyline Films, there's an  iClone recommended starter content bundle. It would take me sone time to find it on their illogical & incoherent website..

DA Points are previously purchased credits for selecting individual items from iClone Content Packs, via iClone's Backstage & Content from individual Content Developer's MarketPlace Stores.

You can Mix both Content purchsases & DA points, including any added Value Added Tax, of $199.95 & above, to qualify for the Free iC5.

ADDED - Starter Combo Packs, here; http://www.reallusion.com/contentstore/promo/iClone_Starter_Kit/

Anyone-else?

Thanks colour.

I'm not sure exactly on all the uses I will make of iClone. Probably not too much on the narrative, but more on commercial applications.

Sounds like the DA points is a safe bet for now until I get into it more.

he ha ha ha he ha hu hu ha ha ha (joker laugh when he enter the criminals meeting).

anyway, the thing is this. if you buy content, depending on the content, it's outdated.

if you buy da point, you lose out compared to buying pack by cash. but it's good if you want to mix and match.

since time is running out (and i myself will make a purchase tonight) you really need to browse all item available, make a list, and triage, and see what best. nobody can advise you because nobody know what you want to make (what kind of film?) there are a lot of item specific to certain kind of flim.

I myself, despite previous user, need to spend the same amount, and i decided to go for pack - it's cheaper that way - confirmed by Peter. So I need to see what pack that have the item i need most.

I think you`re right. Get 2 times the 10000 points with 5% off and 1 time the 1000 points. That`s the first bonus and you don`t have to waste your points for content. Buy only the points and you get your free copy.

That you can purchase in Marketplace all content separately (like told above) is not true. There are a lot of combopacks you have to purchase at once. Reallusion is almost the only fair player with content. They give you the possibility to try the content and if you like it you can buy it.

Thanks all, that helps. Safe bet then is DA points but I understand that this means some of the packs deals wont be available.

Well, looking forward to getting something new to learn and play with :)

I guess that might be the right way to go.

However, I haven't spent enough time in Backstage to tell how good their content is.

Some seems good, but unless someone knows better than me...the content is not organized very well. It's hard to find the best stuff separated from the less attractive (or quickly hewn) items. The search seems okay, but not that reliable.

Hey, I just bought the Nature Builder Combo Pack for Iclone 4, it's got a terrain creator along with hundreds of plants, including trees, shrubs, etc. When I first received IC 4 last year, I got discouraged because I wasn't able to create the terrain I wanted, so I decided to save up for the Nature Builder Pack, which I know will help me tremendously in my movie making. That's my advice to you.

Interesting, thanks.

I went ahead and got the DA points to be safe, and have just received my Claim Ticket by email

Thanks all!
