First of all, I have to say that Iclone 5 looks incredible, and I can't wait to get my hands on it and get back into movie making.

Will the Nature Builder be upgraded for IC5, or will an entirely new version of it come out? What about the material lib, will that be replaced with something new, or will the one that's currently available now be left alone?

I know of no plans at present for a new version of the Nature Builder series. The current iClone4 version will be usable in iClone5. Material libraries will also continue to be used in iClone5.

I have a question about the material library:

Ok so it will work with Iclone 5, but will it be
wanting an upgrade to the resolution of the textures,
after we all have 64 bit Iclone?

I saw that the Average Texture Size for material
texture are 1024 X 1024, on this page:

http://www.reallusion.com/contentstore/csproduct.aspx?contentid=AIC320DIENU070120090427001&MenuItem=ic_texture&Type=Material%20Lib

And I saw that this is rated as: Mild resolution on that page.

Then I looked at the "total texture gallery," here:

http://www.reallusion.com/ContentStore/iClone/pack/3DTextureMaterial/gallery/gallery.htm

And I must say this stuff looks great, but why would the people on 3dtotal be using
iclone textures? Aren't those people mostly into 3DS Studio Max and Maya?

edit: I then found this page:

http://www.3dtotal.com/textures/

It seems that 3dtotal sells dvd's with textures on them, titled:
"Total textures," and The Total Textures gallery, created with
Total Textures, must be using textures form that DVD collection,
not any Iclone textures. So why is it linked to?

I'm a little confused.

So anyway, my main question is: would this resolution of 1024 X 1024
be good enough for 64 bit iclone 5, or should I perhaps wait to see
if all the materials get an upgrade to the Total Materials Bundle?

Thanks!

1024 x 1024 is a good size for a prop texture in iClone5 and will give very good results. Remember iClone5 will be real-time just like previous versions of iClone and so texture sizes have to be taken into consideration, expecially in a complex scene with multiple props and avatars.

As iC4 (and 5) are realtime applications, this will most likely be limited by your video card because all the textures will be going through that. So chances are you'll want to have a video card with a lot of video memory.

And so I'm assuming that we can get these and it'll count towards the iC5 upgrade then.

The Nature Builder Bundles can be purchased as part of the $199.95 Content Store Offer. :)
