This tutorial shows nothing.

I have all the body parts from an artist -- how do you open them in CTA and assemble them?

This is super confusing and goes by way too fast.

Where are the step by step instructions??

For example, how do you import body parts? How do you then just "drag the head to the body" like it shows in this tutorial?

I am willing to pay someone a small amount if they would be willing to rig all my characters that were created by a professional artist.
Thank you!

I agree completely! Maybe the people creating the tutorials know the software so well they dont remember that those that dont need to actually see the steps slowly and explicitly before they can understand how to "do something"

Why dont the CTA tutorials go step by step at each point so someone who needs a tutorial can understand? w00t

There are a whole slew of tutorials for creating your own characters.  See http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/animator/animator_training.aspx and there's also a whole YouTube channel as well.  http://www.youtube.com/user/CrazyTalkTutorial#p/u

I appreciate you pointing that out and dont want to start a "bitching" rant on the tutorials. I have seen dozens of the tutorials and I am able to figure out (slowly) how to use CTA.

My complaint is I find the tutorials missing details and explicit directions.BigGrin Not a newbie when it comes to learning software and it is just my opinion. Great program regardless of the tutorials!

I'll have to agree with some of the comments here... when i first purchased the software I almost wanted my money back because I couldn't do some of the things I wanted with it. I literally had to open the tutorial in VLC Media Player (free software) so that I could slow them down to 1/4 speed and TRY to figure on what they were clicking.

The narrator would say "Switch to xxx view and click the yyy icon to do this..."

And I was like, "How do I switch to that view?" Then when I finally figured out the view... I was like, "Okay... where is the yyy icon?" and I spent several more minutes trying to find it.

Take a look at one of the videos for Swish (a FLASH program) for example... they do them properly...
http://www.swishzone.com/tutorials/max3/wizard_gallery001_walkthrough/

They go through each step... then they tell you what button they are going to press, what it does, show you where it is... etc. You can actually follow along and do each step. Even if you had never heard of the software... after one of their tutorials I'm sure you could use the software.

I appreciate your tutorials... but please... please... don't assume we know how all the features of the program work and/or where they are. Remember... it is easier for us to fast-forward past something we know than it is to watch the video 5 times trying to catch a glimpse of "What the hell did he just click?"

Thanks,
Jerry

I fully understand your point and hopefully in the near future some complete beginners tutorials can be introduced that will indeed take you step by step through the basic procedures.

In the meantime I would advise spending some time with the CTA Help Guide which will explain the interface and where all the buttons are placed. Then when you are watching the tutorials they will be easier to follow.

Thank you for the feedback. It is appreciated.

For what its worth if you go into the developer area there are LOTS of written instructions in there and I was able to put together a custom animation of the mascot of my college. I have some kinks to work out before I share it but I found the instructions very informative and they had step by step images with good instruction.

Hello, friends. I'm from Brazil and our company is very interested in acquiring the CTA so I can work in the animation of our characters, but there are still some questions that need to take. As yet there is no training of Reallusion in Portuguese, I'm having to learn practically alone here in the company about the program. I downloaded all the tutorials and manuals possible but have not found something very detailed step by step how to do certain processes. For example, what programs were used to model those characters (Flash?) And how to outline these in detail.
I found the tutorials need to be detailed in this direction. How do I build my characters in detail, finally, more detailed step by step. Can anyone help me please?

The CTA is really fabulous and meets our needs for animation, but as I am of Brazil and for you Americans, it's kind of complicated the lack of detailed tutorials and personalized think about for me here in Brazil. I read English well but is complicated when we have questions we want to take. We want to buy the program and the packages but must be well prepared with the program. Please help me.

Considering I was recently involved with a company that still try to market what amounts to 1994 styled Powerpoint Audience-patronizing presentations, I'd have said this was a superb addition to their quest. I will watch this and see how I can mix it with iClone.

Hi Eho

Have you seen the two video tutorials below? They will take you through the process of creating a character from a single image. This should get you started. Smile

How to use the Cosmic Hero Effect 07 as in the vid?

How to use the Cosmic Hero Effect 07 as in the vid?

The actual effect is great to simulate your character running at speed etc.

To use the Cosmic Hero Effect 07 just add it to your scene. It will show with a dummy sprite. At the desired point on the timeline  you want the effect to play, just open the Sprite Editor and switch to the Effect sprite. It will then play. You can then Hide the dummy sprite for the parts you don't want it visible by using the Show/Hide button on the top toolbar.
