I have read the other posts out here and still have questions about exporting my avatar as a WMV file with a transparent background. I am trying to insert some talking characters into a Lectora program. (Lectora is an elearning program creation software.) The image needs to have a completely transparent background so that it just sits on top of the rest of the information on the page I am trying to create within Lectora. I do not have movie editor software to assist in this process.
Is there a way when I export my Crazytalk 5.0 file that I can have a transparent background instead of the colored box around my image? I have masked the background around the image and even imported the same image I have on my Lectora screen but there is still a box around all of that which shows up when the file plays. So I then have a box within the box. It will not allow me to crop my image without losing half of my figure's body in the process to reduce this outer box of gray. (The cropping tool is not very user-friendly since it will not allow you to custom fit your picture like I can in other software.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to achieve complete transparency both the video format as also the player need to support transparency. As far as I know, neither the Windows Media Video file format nor the Windows Media Player support transparency.
Many video editors support chroma-keying, also known as blue- or green-screening, a method of removing a color from one video or image to reveal another video or image behind it. Still it does not necessarily mean that the final video exported has fully transparent regions, even if the video format or codec support alpha channel.
Flash is the only way that I am aware of how to integrate a video with transparent background seemlessly into a website for example. Additional third-party software, like eg. Swish Video 3, would be required to edit and convert the video, though.
CrazyTalk 5 can export TGA image sequences with alpha support if the background of the model is masked. Maybe it is possible to import and animate the images in your software.

Since Flash is the only way to integrate a video with transparent background, how do I render my Avatar in iClone 4. Can you provide Step-by-step instructions. I am a newbie... Thanks

this original question is apparently from 2008 lol, but i'll answer anyways hehe
( explained extra simple so people who don't know much about transparency can understand too )
one way to approach it, which applies for cta, ic4 and ct6 or any other video for that matter, is to make whatever you do on a green screen background, then import it to the reallusion pop video converter, from there you key out the green and export it as an iwidget. take the iwidget and embed it into the widget cast software and make a widget .....that widget will hold the transparency, i did something similar on my myspace page, www.myspace.com/rickcrespo..... if you look at the player up top that spans the whole page, it's a widget cast widget .....and the dancer on the left dancing on the player has a transparent background remove the player and he'd be dancing in air ......... another way to do it ....is to make an animated GIF in the same fashion by keying out the green ( or blue ) background ..you will not have an audio option though and you would need another software to compile the gif's into one animating gif. , Iclone has the ability to export transparent png images but you would still have to cnvert them to gif and compile them to make an animated gif You have to consider that wherever you use these transparent images will have their own limitations , so you do have to follow some sort of pipeline to a format thats friendly with wherever you post it, as not all sites accept gif and not all sites accept html embeds. The transparency is a web code thing, not a video thing, at least on the web, as in video, chroma keying is for letting the video behind show ...and on the web its to let any page its posted on show from behind ....same concepts but different approaches. there are other ways of approaching this as well, ie - exporting alpha channels...but i find the pop converter does a very clean chroma key and keeps life simple ~ Good luck ;)
